Maya was back on her feet already, leaning against a section of wall with her hands on her belly. The baby was kicking hard, and she was feeling occasional pains low in her belly, and she was doing everything she could to calm the little one again.

Once the Doombots were taken care of, Bucky headed back to where he'd last seen Colbie. He wanted to make sure she was alright.

Colbie did a quick visual check of Maya once her brain rebooted. "We need to go." She forced herself to not think about anything except getting Maya back to the tower, where it was safe and Bruce could check her over.

"Everything good?" Steve asked as he fell into step next to Bucky, though he was still tense. Clearly some of the bots had gotten behind him; he could see the still-smoking remains.

"Yes," Maya agreed, getting off the wall and standing up on her own. She winced when the little one kicked.

"We need to get back to the girls," Bucky said. "And then get back to the tower, before anything else happens."

Colbie herded Maya out in front of her, tense and alert and wary as she'd not been for weeks now. She didn't even relax when she steered Maya straight over to Steve and Bucky.

Steve frowned a little when he saw the two, but focused on Maya first. "Are you alright to walk back to the tower?" he asked briskly. He could carry her if he had to.

"I'm fine," Maya replied, nodding. The baby was still rolling around, but it was nothing she couldn't handle until they were back.

"Let's get back to the tower," Bucky said, glancing around. He was making an effort not to look at Maya, though he kept glancing at Colbie.

Steve wasted no time in getting back to the tower, and he punched in the floor for Bruce's little medical area immediately.

"Jarvis, would you let Bruce know that we need him in medical?"

"Certainly, Captain."

Colbie remained silent and too still in the elevator, her clenched fists the only outward sign of her distress.

Maya bit her lip and groaned a little as another pain tightened through her belly just as they got out of the elevator. She pressed the heels of her palms to the sides of her stomach, trying to get the tightness to ease.

Bucky could see how quiet and tense Colbie was, and glanced at Steve when the elevator doors opened.

"You look after her," he said quietly to him. "I'm going to take her somewhere quiet and try to snap her out of this."

Steve nodded. "I will. Good luck." He gently put his hand on Maya's back to steer her out of the elevator and to the medical area they had set up.

Colbie made an aborted motion to go after them, but stopped herself and rocked back on her heels again. Maya didn't need her there, after all.

Maya allowed herself to be steered into the medical area.

"She's still upset," she murmured, still trying to calm the little one. "She hasn't stopped moving at all."

"Hey, come on," Bucky said quietly as the elevator doors closed again. "I don't know about you, but I could use a bite to eat. Let's go see what we can find while Bruce does his whole doctor thing."

"Were you hurt?" Bruce asked as he looked her over. "Or moved too suddenly? That could be why she's still so active."

Colbie nodded once, jerkily, but kept her gaze somewhere on the floor. When the doors opened again, she waited until he moved out of the elevator to follow him.

"I was knocked over," Maya said as she let him check her over. "Some bruises, but nothing that won't be gone by tomorrow."

Bucky noticed how she was acting and mentally cursed. He had no idea how to handle this kind of regression. He walked with her into the kitchen and grabbed some fruit off the counter.

"Here," he said, handing her an apple. "Start with this."

Bruce nodded. "Okay, good," he said. "The baby is probably fine, but Jarvis is double checking for us, just in case."

Colbie looked at the apple for a few moments before she took it, turning it over in her hands. But she didn't eat it.

"She's not happy," Maya said. She grimaced at another pain. "Especially when that happens. I think I'm too tense, and that keeps happening."

Bucky gestured for her to sit down at the table.

"I need you to talk to me," he said to her. "Tell me what's wrong."

Bruce nodded. "A bath will help," he said. "Warm water will soothe both of you, I think. If not, we'll figure something else out. It'll help with the pain, too."

Colbie sat down slowly and drummed her fingers against the table.

"I failed."

Maya nodded.

"Definitely worth a try," she said, massaging her belly firmly with her palms again. The tightness in her belly eased a little, and she sighed. "Does she look okay, at least?"

"You failed?" Bucky asked. "What did you fail?"

Bruce nodded, pulling up the live feed to show her on his tablet. "She looks healthy, just active right now."

Colbie frowned and spoke slowly, with a little pause between each word. "I didn't protect Maya. I failed. I had one mission and I failed."

Even with the discomfort, Maya couldn't help but smile when she saw the feed.

"She's already strong," she murmured. "Now I just hope she tires herself out and gives me a little peace soon."

"You did protect her," Bucky said, frowning a bit. "She is in the tower, safe, and not injured. You protected her."

"She will," Bruce said, sounding a little amused now. "Go take a bath, that will help settle her."

"I didn't. She was hurt. I was protecting her and she was hurt on my watch." Colbie got to her feet again, starting to pace the kitchen. "I failed."

Maya nodded and glanced around.

"Where did Colbie go?" she asked. "She was just here."

"You didn't fail," Bucky said firmly, watching her pace. "You got her back here safely. That was your mission, yes? You accomplished it. She's fine."

"She's with Bucky," Steve said. "She's fine."

Colbie snarled at him. "No," she disagreed, shaking her head sharply. "No."

"Where is she?" Maya asked again. "I need to update her on my status, since she isn't here."

"Yes," Bucky said, just as firmly as before. "You achieved your mission. You protected her. You did not fail."

"You can update her in a bit," Steve said. He'd seen Colbie, though peripherally; she hadn't looked good. "Bucky's taking care of her for right now."

Colbie looked at him for a few long moments before she shook her head again. She blinked and found herself on her knees on the floor, a little dizzy and not sure what exactly was happening.

"No, I need to find her now," Maya said, shaking her head. "I have to. She'll worry otherwise."

"Hey, easy," Bucky said when she hit the floor. He was next to her in an instant, helping her back to her feet. "It's alright, I promise. Just take a deep breath and let it out, and let's get you somewhere comfortable."

Steve nodded. "Jarvis?" he asked, knowing the AI would know where to direct them.

"Miss Colbie is currently with Sergeant Barnes," Jarvis said. "I believe they'll be moving momentarily. I would suggest you wait until they stop again."

Colbie blinked rapidly, because this was strange and unusual. She wasn't functioning properly. No, that was wrong. Something was wrong with her. But she was docile, at least, and let Bucky decide where they were going.

"Where are they going?" Maya asked. That didn't sound right. "Is something wrong? Is Colbie alright?"

Bucky steered her into a quieter room, sitting her down on a couch.

"Talk to me," he said quietly. He needed to get her responding again. "Give me a status report."
