Gemini kicked her heels gently, afraid of hurting the horse. As it turned out, it was too lightly- the horse didn't feel it at all. She kicked a bit harder, and finally got the horse moving at a steady walk. Perfect, step one down. After taking a moment to get used to the shifting pace, the flicked the reins to the right, getting the horse to turn. Soon, she had the horse walking in smooth circles. "Look, I did it! Um...how do I tell her to stop?"
"Just pull the reins back and say whoa." The woman smiled at Gemini. "or you could try going faster." she watched the horse and rider carefully in case she needed to step in.
Gemini perked up at the idea of going faster. "Okay...let's try that." She kicked her heels again, this time a bit harder, which resulted in the horse going a bit faster. "Oh! Wow, this is fun!"
''Good job." The woman grinned and let her go a few more times. "Alright start slowing her down." she glanced at Al who was happily watching Gemini ride.
Remembering the instructions from before, Gemini pulled back on the reins, making the horse slow down. "She's a great horse." She said, stroking the horse's mane lightly.
"Yes she is. Her names Star." The woman helped Gemini down and handed her a sugar cube. "Go ahead and give her the treat."
"Star, huh? That's my last name." Gemini smiled and held her hand out, letting Star take the sugar cube. "Thank you for letting me ride you, Star."
"It must be fate." The woman smiled. "We still have an hour left." she looked to Al who shook his head. "This is all about my girlfriend." he smiled at Gemini. "She can go as many times as she wants."
Gemini smiled, grateful, but shook her head. "No, it's okay. I want you to go, too. Unless you don't want to." She said. She wanted them both to have fun.
"I'll give it a try." Al approached the horse looking nervous. The last time he had been near a animal besides Den the creature had taken off. Of course he wasn't a suit of armor anymore but still he didn't want to scare the horse. He managed to get up in one try thanks to his longer legs. After he fell to the ground groaning "Never again." he sniffled hurting in the worst place possible.
Gemini grimaced and went over to Al. "I'm sorry. I didn't realize it would be that bad." She said apologetically. "I won't make you do that ever again. I'm so sorry."
"i didn't think it would be that bad either." Al whimpered. The woman was laughing "You poor dear. I did warn you. It can take men a while to get use to the ride." she smirked. Al sniffled and pouted up at Gemini "Don't ever tell Ed about this."
Gemini nodded, putting a hand out to help him stand up. "Oh, no, I'll never tell Ed. Definitely not. He'd have a field day." She said.
"yeah he would." Al grimaced as he stood. "Come on I'll get you an ice pack." The woman lead them into her house and handed him one. "thanks." he say and hissed at the cold. "I'm pathetic aren't I?"
Gemini shook her head. "No, of course you're not! Why would you think that?" She asked, astonished that he would even ask.
"Because I'm lying here with an ice pack whining like a child." Al sighed softly.
"You're not whining, Al. You got hurt. It's not pathetic to be hurt." Gemini insisted. "And there's nothing wrong with accepting an ice pack or any other kind of help for that matter."
"I feel a little pathetic." Al glanced at her. "I lost some cool factor." he pouted. ''i wanted to look like a cool guy up there riding that horse. Did I look cool?"
Gemini rolled her eyes, chuckling slightly. "You never lost any cool factor." She said. "I think just getting on the horse in the first place was really cool. And yes, you looked really cool up on that horse." She said, completely honest.
"I was cool wasn't I?" Al grinned up at her. "What do you want to do tomorrow?" he asked taking her hand in his. "Not this. Not for a while."
Gemini chuckled. "No, definitely not this." She said. "Maybe we'll have a picnic?" She suggested, thinking of the least stressful thing she could find.
Al smiled "a picnic sounds great." he stood slowly and took her hand. "Let's start headding back." he limped forward for a few steps and then started to walk normal.
Gemini smiled and took his hand, ready to help him if he needed it. He seemed fine after a moment, though, so she simply walked with him happily.
Al spotted a ice cream shop and stopped there letting him rest for a while. "It gets so hot here." he sighed. "I can't wait to go home where the weather is normal." he flinched. "I don't mean to sound ungrateful to be here but I miss Winry and Granny, Den, Lori, Roy even Armstrong."
Gemini nodded. "No, I understand what you mean. It's nice to visit other places, but in the end there's no place like home." She smiled. "I'll be happy to go back and see everyone."
