"Lazy day?" Gemini asked hopefully.
"I don't think we'll be able to go a whole day without some disaster happening." Steve said. |
Tony shrugged. "Even if one happened we aren't the only Avengers. Let the others handle it."
"You always say that." Aurora rolled her eyes. |
"We've been on call a lot recently, though. I guess a break wouldn't hurt...as long as we're ready to move if we're needed." Steve said.
Gemini raised her hands triumphantly. "Lazy day!" She hopped up and went to the living room, looking for movies to marathon. |
Tony chuckled. ''she's so spazy." he followed her into the room and pulled open a large cabinet of movies.
Aurora blinked. "That's a lot of movies." |
Gemini squealed, picking out movies and setting them aside. "We'll make popcorn and snacks and sit down and watch movies all day~" She said excitedly.
"It sounds like she's been planning this for a long time." Steve said as he watched. |
"Seems that way." Tony grinned and started the popcorn.
Aurora was watching Gemini a sad look on her face. "I have to go." she stood suddenly and headed for the door. |
Gemini looked up. "What? Why?" She asked, pouting like a child.
Steve stood up to follow her. "What's wrong?" He asked gently. "I'm not going to stop you from leaving, but could you at least tell me why you want to go?" |
"I can't." Aurora was staring at the floor. "They deserve to hear it." Cress said. "They'll understand...or at least no arrest you." "I can't Cress." Aurora shifted. "Come on love we've held this is in for so long." Cress urged. Aurora turned "I'll tell you but you have to promise not to hate me." her lower lip quivered.
"I promise." Tony frowned a little. |
"Of course, I promise." Gemini said with a worried expression.
"I could never hate you. Either of you. I swear." Steve agreed. |
Aurora swallowed. "I was seven just about and I had a great friend a little girl my age that didn't have a name. Together we gave her the name Crescent Moon because she liked it. We use to watch movies, play and do everything kids are age did then one day I..." her voice broke. "The microwave wasn't working right so I decide to try heating the popcorn myself and I set the whole building on fire. We where the only ones home...she didn't make it." she took a breath. "I killed another friend when I was thirteen, then one more when I was fifteen. Five of the orphanages I lived in burnt to the ground...but Cress was the first she was the first to talk to me the first to treat me normal and I killed her."
|
"Cress...as in...?" Gemini asked hesitantly, having trouble wrapping her mind around this information. "But that wasn't your fault, Aurora. It was an accident."
Steve nodded. "You didn't mean to hurt anyone. And I don't really understand why any of that means you have to leave now. You have control over your powers now, and we can all protect ourselves. No one here is going to get hurt." |
"Cress developed after I killed my friend and while." Aurora shrugged. "I named my imaginary friend after her." she shook her head. "You don't know that Steve. I could hurt you. Everytime I get close to someone they get hurt...I'm a curse."
"I'm still alive." Tony pointed out. "We weren't that close in college besides you might be fine but your parents died." Aurora bite her lip. "You think...that's ridiculous." Tony scowled. "My parents did not die because of you." he glanced at Steve. "They died thanks to someone else's friend." |
Steve flinched slightly, guilt crossing his features. "He's right. And I'm not hurt, either." He pointed out.
"Yeah, neither am I. And you're the first friend I've ever had. You can't get closer than that...without being a couple." Gemini agreed. |
"You don't know what could happen." Aurora had started to cry wrapping her arms around her waist. "I don't...I can't." she broke off with a choke. "I don't know what to do." she hiccups sobs shook her shoulders.
Tony touched the top of her head ruffling her hair. "Just be you." he smiled. "We'll be fine." |
Gemini nodded, patting her back comfortingly. "Aurora, you're not alone in this. It's taken me so long to get close to anyone here for the same reason as you. You remember, don't you? About how my parents..." She broke off. "What happened with you was an accident. For me, I killed them with my own hands...the point is, I know how you feel."
"Have a little faith in yourself. You haven't hurt us so far. We believe in you." Steve assured her. "And we're a lot harder to get rid of, too." |
Tony held his hand out. "So come watch a movie with us."
Aurora nodded and took his hand. "No popcorn." "No popcorn." Tony agreed and lead her to the couch letting her sit down. "What do we want to watch?" Aurora shrugged. |
Gemini went back to looking for a movie. "Oh, I know! Let's marathon Harry Potter!"
Steve smiled and sat down on Aurora's other side, putting one arm around her. "Isn't that like...a solid two days of movie watching?" "Well, we don't have to watch all of them." |
"Lets at least watch the first one and go from there." Tony suggested.
Aurora nodded and curled against Steve. |
Steve shrugged, pulling Aurora closer. "Okay, fine with me. I haven't actually seen the movies yet, so."
Gemini cheered and pulled out the first movie, getting it set up before going to sit on Tony's lap. "Alright, let's start!" She said, pushing the play button. |
Tony grinned at her and pulled her closer settling his head on her shoulder.
Aurora frowned when the movie started. "OK...I have questions but Steve can ask any he has first." |
"Surprisingly I don't have many questions...well, I read the first book so I guess it's not that surprising." Steve said. "Mostly I just want to know how that lighter took all the streetlights out?"
Gemini chuckled. "It's a magical lighter. It's kind of an unsatisfying answer, but a lot of questions in this series are answered with "it's magic." What about you, Aurora?" |
Aurora opened mouth. "Why do they hate Harry? Why did Voldomort think the prophecy was about him?Why did Hagrid or one of the others just go to the house when the letters where sent? In fact how did Hagrid or Dumbledore know where Harry was? Where did the stone come from? Was it just hanging out in the basement? How did Quirrel wind up with Voldomort on the back of his head?"
"WHOA!" Tony held up his hands. "One too many questions." |
Gemini blinked rapidly and shook her head to clear it. "Wow. Um, okay. One at a time. The Dursley's hated Harry because he represented a world that they didn't understand and thought of as unnatural. On top of that, Petunia had some serious issues with her sister, and they never liked Harry or his parents in the first place, so being saddled with the nephew they didn't like already just made them angry." She explained. "I don't know exactly why no one just delivered Harry's letter in person sooner, but I personally like to think that Dumbledore knew what was going on and wanted to mess with the Dursley's, and maybe hoped that with all of those letters, Harry had to get at least one. Every young wizard gets a letter when they turn eleven, it's not that anyone keeps tabs on where they are, it's just that the owls get a name and somehow know how to find the person. It's another "it's magic" answer. As for Harry personally, Dumbledore had people keeping an eye on him just in case. The books explain it better." Gemini took a breath. "They explained that the Sorcerer's stone was created by Nicholas Flamel, who was a friend of Dumbledore. When Flamel died, he trusted Dumbledore with the stone. Dumbledore took his most trusted professors and had them each design a trap so that it would be nearly impossible to get to the stone, which he'd placed in the safest place in the castle. And as for Quirrel, he happened to come across what was left of Voldemort during his travels. Voldemort won him over with promises of power, and what happened was sort of a possession deal. Again, the books explain it better."
|
"Then I need to read the books." Aurora decided with a scowl. "I mean it was good but I guess I like to pop holes into the plot." she sighed and shrugged. "Sorry about the questions. I just really wanted to ask them."
|
Gemini shrugged. "It's okay. The books are better anyways, and it's good that you're asking questions. It means you're paying attention." She said, going to start the second movie.
