"And why aren't we?" Steve shot back. "You're just as gone on her, and you haven't even spoken to her yet."
"Waiting for the right moment," Bucky replied. He snorted. "'Sides, you're the one who made himself sick drinking a coffee."
Steve shrugged. "Worth it." It definitely had been. And he intended to text Aurora later, too.
"If you say so," Bucky said. But it did get the gears in his own head turning.
Steve let out a quiet little breath when the girls got home safely and trudged inside to clean up and such. He gave them an hour before he sent Aurora a text.
Insomnia strikes again, I'm afraid. How about you? |
Was out late with my sister. Just got home not too long ago. Aurora stretched out on her bed, blissfully clean and comfortable.
Out having fun? Well, that was probably kind of the case, even if they'd been out hunting. Steve was mostly just relieved at this point that she was home safely.
In a sense, Aurora replied. Nice to be home though.
Well that's good. Think you'll be up for coffee tomorrow? Or do you need the day to recover? Steve hadn't even been planning that, it just happened.
Dunno. Ask again in the morning? It wasn't that Aurora was tired, per se, but she also felt a bit weird going on a date almost immediately after a messy hunt.
Sure, no rush. I'm not going anywhere that I know of. And it is late, I'm sorry, I should let you get some rest. Steve fretted a little, but there wasn't a whole lot else he could do, really.
No worries, I was still up. Aurora grinned a bit. I promise you'll know if you wake me up.
Or just make me wait until morning, one of the two. Making me wait is totally fair if I wake you up. Steve grinned a bit, set a little more at ease again.
Nah, I'm the type that answers a text that wakes me up. Never know if it's important. Aurora settled back on her bed, getting comfortable. She would probably be asleep soon enough.
Good to know. Oh, random question. Are you a music in the car person, or a podcast or audiobook person? It truly was a random question, but it wasn't new. Steve had a list.
The question surprised her a bit.
Music in the car, she replied after a moment. Why? |
Like I said, random question. I'm a music in the car guy, but I've got a friend who swears by audiobooks. Haven't been able to tear myself away from the radio long enough to find out for myself.
I know someone with a thing for podcasts, Aurora replied. I have a soft spot in my heart for a few, but mainly I use Spotify.
Sounds like fun. I haven't played much with Spotify yet. Steve settled in a little more, grinning to himself.
You should. Free streaming, though it doesn't have everything, and there are commercials sometimes. Aurora grinned. May have to friend you if you can find me on there.
That almost sounded like a challenge, I am not against challenges, you realize. Fair warning, and all. Steve smothered his grin at that, because "and all" covered a whole lot of things that Bucky would bitch about for hours given half a chance.
Take it how you will, Aurora replied, grinning a bit impishly.
Steve grinned broadly at that. Oh trust me, I will. This was going to be very fun.
I look forward to it. Aurora stretched and settled more on her bed.
A few days later Reilly and Aurora were out doing a bit of shopping, taking the day to just relax.
Not too far away, and completely unintentionally for once, Bucky and Steve were also out and about. |
