"Exactly," Aurora replied. She huffed and took a big bite of her brownie. "We had everything under control, though."
"Of course we did," Reilly agreed with a nod. "We usually do."
Aurora made a face and shoved the rest of the brownie into her mouth.
"They didn't have to interfere," she grumbled around it. |
Reilly snickered a little, because she didn't mind as much.
"Well, hey, at least you got brownies," she pointed out reasonably. |
"No kidding," Aurora replied. She took another sip of her tea. "Though I'm kind of wondering if they live around here or something. They showed up fast."
"Yeah, they did." Reilly hummed a bit. "Not sure. Dunno if we'll ever get an answer, either."
"Yeah," Aurora said. She made a face. "It's still going to bug me." She settled back and winced as it pulled the stitches on her collarbone. "And so are these."
"Well, settle in. There's more food and more sweets, and we'll just have to wait and see what happens." Reilly handed over the remote to her.
Aurora nodded and settled in.
A few days later, Natasha and Clint arrived. Natasha had already arranged for a private suite for herself and Clint, and as soon as they were settled, they went to go see what the situation was with Steve and Bucky. |
"So, how deep do you think they're in by now?" Clint asked, grinning. Oh yes, he was definitely looking forward to this entertainment.
"Hopeless," Natasha replied, smirking just slightly. "You know them. They're like puppies."
"Yes they are. Hey, that's a thought. Think they'll do their best lost puppy impressions around these girls?" Clint grinned, bouncing on the balls of his toes for a moment.
"Without a doubt," Natasha replied. She smiled. "We should go and settle in for the show. I'm sure it'll be entertaining."
Clint cackled a little and went ahead a few steps to ring the doorbell.
Steve opened the door for them and smiled a little. "You took your time," he greeted, standing out of the way so they could come in. |
"There was no rush," Natasha replied, smiling a little as well. "You seem like you're doing okay."
Steve snorted quietly at that. "Not really," he said, though he was doing a bit better than Bucky. But they'd both already searched out the girls and had been watching from a distance.
"You haven't kidnapped them and chained them up in the basement," Natasha pointed out as she walked past him and into the house. "I'd say you're doing just fine."
Steve choked on nothing at that, going red. "I would not," he said, very indignant. "Neither would Buck."
"I've seen it happen," Natasha said with a slight smile. "As I said, you're doing fine so far."
Steve groaned and practically threw himself onto a couch, scowling at her. "Don't be so smug," he grumbled.
"I think I'm allowed," Natasha replied as she perched on the arm of the couch. "All things considered."
Steve grumped at her. "Yeah well keep it to yourself," he grumbled. "I'm not taking it quite as hard as Bucky is, yet."
"James is taking it badly?" Natasha asked. "Tell me, then. What happened, exactly?"
"He's not taking it badly," Steve told her. "He just feels the separation more than I do." He grimaced. "He's been out watching his girl a lot more."
"And does she know she has a lovesick puppy stalking her?" Natasha prodded gently. "And does yours?"
