Aurora was not a morning person. She had never been a morning person, for as long as she could remember. She hated getting up before ten in the morning. So when her phone started to buzz at her at eight-thirty, she groaned and glared at the screen as if it had personally offended her. She didn't even particularly care that the message was from her favorite cousin. He'd interrupted her sleep.

Unfortunately for her, Tony continued to call back until she picked up her phone. He was persistent, if nothing else.

"Good morning sunshine," he greeted, far too chipper for that hour of the morning.

"Tony, I will find you and I will skin you," Aurora grumbled as she squinted a bit against the light from her phone, dragging it under the covers with her. "What do you want?"

"Got a tip an hour or so ago," Tony said. "I was investigating a bit before I pass it along. You interested? It's not too far from where you are currently."

"Why are you even awake?" Aurora groused. "Did you not sleep again? You need to stop doing that." She squirmed up and out of her blankets, propping herself up on her elbows and reaching for a bottle of water. "Now what's going on?"

"Reports of a couple vamps," Tony told her, sidestepping the sleep issue entirely. "Apparently there's a couple of them. They're being careful, though, no unusual deaths in the area that I could find, not for the past six months or so."

"Then why did you wake me up so early?" Aurora whined. "It's not like there's a body count this time."

"So? Doesn't mean there won't be one," Tony pointed out. "Just because they've been sneaky so far doesn't mean they always will be. Besides, I figured you'd want to go take a look before the body count started."

"You really didn't sleep at all last night, did you?" Aurora asked as she sat up and got her feet on the floor. "That's why you're handing this off, you're probably to the point of hallucinating."

"I am not handing it off, I'm going to join you," Tony said. "I'm giving you fair warning, and all that."

"But you still didn't get any sleep last night," Aurora stated as she stretched a bit. "Considering you keep dancing around that. Something happen?"

"Nothing out of the ordinary, just been working." Tony shrugged. "It might be ready by the time I meet up with you two, not sure yet."

"What is it?" Aurora asked, digging through her dresser now for a suitable tee. "Anything interesting? Fun new toy?"

"Should be once it's done," Tony agreed. "I'll tell you more later. Want me to send you what I've got so far on the vamps?"

"Yeah, sure," Aurora replied. "Send me what you've got, I'll look it over once I've had some coffee and a shower."

"Sure, fine, I'll see you later." Tony hung up and promptly sent over all the information he had on this case.

Reilly poked her head out of her own nest. "Job?" she asked, her voice still hoarse with sleep.

"Yeah," Aurora replied as she threw her clothes onto her bed and grabbed the towel from the back of her closet door. "Tony's going to send over the information. Apparently, he was up all night working on some new toys."

"Fun stuff." Reilly yawned. "I'll make coffee, you shower first." She dragged herself out of bed, ignoring her bed-head and rumpled pjs, and just headed for the kitchen.

"That was the plan," Aurora said, heading into the bathroom. A hot shower sounded heavenly.

Reilly snorted quietly but got to work on coffee and some breakfast for the two of them, settling into the routine easily enough. Although it was much earlier than normal.

Aurora throughly enjoyed her hot shower, and eventually came into the kitchen, dressed and still toweling her hair.

"Shower's yours," she said as she went over and got a clean coffee cup.

"Alright." Reilly finished up the blini, setting the stack on the table. "Help yourself, I've already been snacking on them while I was cooking."

"Awesome," Aurora said, taking a plate. "You always make the best stuff."

Reilly grinned a bit and went to go take her own shower.

Fortunately, it didn't take too long for Tony to get back to them again, since he was clearly impatient.

Aurora was reading the information on her tablet when her phone went off again.

"I promise, Tony, I'm reading it now," she said.
