"I have no idea." Lori shrugged. "She's been that way since she was little. I always had to be up for a while and had my tea or coffee before I was that...energetic.''
|
"Huh." Cal refrained from saying anything else, knowing he would probably end up insulting one or both of the sisters by accident.
|
"She's my sweet little spaz." Lori smiled at her sister. She placed her money on the table "better to see how far along my shop is."
Alex stood as well. "And I have a sweet old lady waiting for my help." he glanced at his brother. "See you at lunch." he wondered over to Rose and kissed her cheek before walking out. |
Cal stood up as well, smiling slightly as he watched his brother kiss the girl and the girl blush happily. "You know, we may not like it, but they are cute together." He said to Lori.
|
Lori was glaring at the back of Alex head. "Yes there cute." she sighed and headed off to check on her store.
|
Cal followed, since he was one of the people working on the building anyway. He didn't try to talk to her, just got there and got to work.
|
Lori was examining her new stove grinning. "Its perfect." "We'll have it in soon." The man builder promised. Lori grinned and stroked her stove. "Soon." she whispered.
|
Cal, working nearby, heard the exchange and smirked. She sounded like a villain planning a murder, and it was kind of attractive. The hell is wrong with me? He thought, shaking his head before getting back to work.
|
Lori bought lunch for everyone and sat eating watching her store come to life.
Alex stopped in at the inn for lunch plopping down in a chair with a groan. |
Cal worked straight through lunch again, out of habit completely forgetting to eat.
It was busy at the inn, and Rosemary was thankful that she wasn't the only one working the lunch rush. She stopped by Alex's table to take his order. "Hey stranger. Hungry?" |
"You didn't eat again." Lori poked the back of his head and held out his plate. "No reason for you to faint from hunger."
Alex stomach made a sound a cross between a lion roar and a rumble. "I'm starving." he blushed. |
Cal blinked, startled out of his thoughts. He had been so focused on his work, he hadn't even heard her approach. "Oh, uh...thanks."He said, taking the plate. "I wouldn't have fainted, though. I'm used to going days without eating." He wasn't bragging, it was just a simple fact.
Rosemary chuckled. "Apparently. Sit tight, I'll get you something good." She said, whirling away before he could answer. She came back a few minutes later with a platter full of food. "The lunch platter- my own personal invention. If you can finish it all, you get it for free." |
Alex finished it before she even finished talking. "Can I have seconds?" he asked holding out the plate.
"But you forget that your brother force feed you...in a way." Lori smirked a little. "So eat." she went back to her own lunch. |
Rosemary's eyes widened, and she laughed. "Alright, but slow down or you'll make yourself sick. And the second one you have to pay for." She said, taking the empty platter.
Cal stared down at the plate for a moment, thinking, then slowly started eating. |
"Alright." Alex agreed taking a sip of his juice. He ate more slowly when she brought the second plate. "It's good!"
Lori cleaned up after they finished eating. "I can't believe this just two more days and I can start baking." she grinned. "I'll need to buy so much...I'm going to need a wagon and a horse." she mused. |
"Glad you took the time to taste it this time." Rosemary said humorously.
"You can use my horse. He's a strong one." Cal offered. "And I won't be riding him much once I get my own business up and running." |
Lori nodded. "Alright...thanks." she smiled at him. "Now I just need a wagon. I'm going to go have them build me one." she headed to the builders.
Alex blushed softly. "Sorry I was starving." |
Cal nodded and got back to work.
"Clearly." Rosemary laughed. "I've got to get back to work now, lot's of lunch customers. See you later?" |
"Defiantly." Alex kissed her hand paid and headed off humming softly.
Lori headed out on a borrowed wagon while the builders worked. When she returned the wagon was loaded with sugar, flour, and tons of other things. "Look I got what I needed." she grinned as she jumped off the wagon she misjudged and wound up nearly falling on Cal. |
Luckily, Cal was paying attention and caught her easily. Blushing, he gently placed her back on her feet. "You okay?" He asked, not looking at her.
|
"Yeah...thanks." Lori was blushing as well. "I misjudged the space...I'm just lucky my skirt didn't get cut." she pulled away and dusted herself off. "Can you help me pull this stuff of the wagon?"
|
Cal nodded. "Yeah, sure." He said. Still avoiding her gaze, he went to the wagon and started unloading things. "Just tell me where you want everything."
|
"I'll show you." Lori grabbed a sack of flour and carried in to the huge cabinet the builders had made. She glanced at him ever once in a while.
|
Cal shrugged a little- as much as he could with bags and boxes weighing him down- and followed. Taking his cue from Lori, he started putting things where they belonged. He was sweating just a little bit, just enough to make his shirt stick to him and show off his form as he worked. He was lean, but muscular, and well-built.
|
Lori stared at him for a while. Then looked away wondering what was wrong with her? She had escaped from her life and Cas who was cute and sweet just to fall for a good looking guy she barely knew who had been trying to bring her back to her parents for ransom money. She shoved him as hard as she could with a rage scream "I HATE YOU!" she screeched making the other workers look at them.
