"Well if your looking for someone to hire." Lori offered. "I want to quiet my job at the paper. I don't want to work with Clark anymore."

"Its not as bad Superman." Joker snorted. "I look a lot different." he smirked.

Bruce paused, obviously taken by surprise by this offer. He thought about it. "That would be a great help to me...and you'd be a welcome addition. There's too many stubborn old men in the company, we need a strong woman to keep everyone in check." He smiled. "What are the terms of your employment? You would have full control of your schedule, and you'd be paid well."

Gemini nodded with a pained expression. "That's true. I still can't figure it out...an entire city completely fooled by a pair of glasses. And not one person notices the resemblance. It's kind of pathetic." She said.

"That's enough for me." Lori smiled all she wanted to do is be close to him and away from Clark.

Joker nodded. "I don't think anyone who knows him get it." He chuckled and then glanced away as it began to feel awkward.

"Then you're hired." Bruce said, this time with a genuine smile. He liked the idea of working with Lori. "When can you start?"

Gemini cleared her throat and glanced away. It was becoming difficult to ignore her feelings with him standing right there. "Did you burn down Harley's old apartment?" She surprised herself, not having expected to ask. But who else would have done it?

Joker had the grace to look ashamed. "I didn't mean for the whole place to go up just her apartment." he admitted though he still wasn't ready to admit he had started to love her.

"As soon as you fire the other person." Lori laughed.

"And it didn't occur to you that the apartments were all connected? Fire spreads, you know." Gemini's voice was more amused than accusatory. "Why did you do it?"

"You can start tomorrow, then." Bruce said. "I'll fire the other guy later today...right after the three-hour meeting he scheduled me for right after lunch."

"You poor baby." Lori smiled and patted his cheek gentle. "I'll come bring you some lunch. How does that sound?"

"It's hard to explain." Joker mumbled shifting his feet around.

Bruce found himself doing something he almost never did: blushing. "That...sounds nice. Thank you. I'd appreciate it." He said.

"At least try." Gemini said. "Lori and I were staying there. It's lucky we were gone when it happened, or..." She cleared her throat. It wasn't like he cared. "I think I deserve an explanation."

"I'm not explaining it to you." Joker blushed softly and glared at her. "I didn't know you two where there." he blinked and frowned wondering why that would have mattered.

Lori grinned. "Your cute when you blush." she squeezed his hand.

"You're just trying to get rid of any trace of her, aren't you?" Gemini accused. "You can't stand being reminded of her. Because you really did care about her."

Bruce blinked a little, surprised. "I...um. Thank you." He said, thinking he would have to start blushing more often.

"no I didn't." Joker growled and glared at her. "She was a pathetic waste of space! She was so easy trick." he was shaking a dark scowl on his face.

Lori smiled. "your welcome." she glanced over his shoulder and choked. Clark was with Lois sitting at a breakfast place Clark was kissing Lois in a way he had never kissed her. "I have to go." she stood grabbed her bag and raced off.

"You're a terrible liar." Gemini said. As she watched him react to her words, something clicked in her mind. She took a step back. "You know what? I can't...do this. I...I gotta go." She said quickly, turning back the way she came. She didn't care about going to see her boss anymore- she just needed to think. Or not think. Definitely not think.

Bruce stood up as well. "Lori? Wait-" He tried to stop her, but she ran off too quickly. Looking around, he spotted the cause of her sudden departure and scowled. Then, on an impulse, he ran after her, caught her. Tugged her around to face him. And there, right in plain view of Clark, leaned down to kiss her, very gently. Very soft. Loving.

Lori felt a hand on her arm and went to snap at Bruce when she felt his mouth on hers. Her eyes widened and with a soft blush she kissed him back clinging to his shirt. Clark glanced over and frowned.

Joker watched her go. "What am I doing?" he ran a hand threw his hair before turning and walking away.

Bruce let the kiss last just a little bit longer than he should have, then pulled away, blushing. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have...I just...didn't want you to leave upset. He's not worth getting angry over. I'm sorry."

"I'm not sorry." Lori smiled blushing. "Your an amazing kisser." she thread her fingers threw his hair. "A ton better then Clark."

That made Bruce smile. "I know I'm supposed to be more mature than this, but it's always nice hearing something like that." He said. "You're pretty amazing, yourself." He took a strand of her hair and twirled it around his finger.

Lori let out a content sigh leaning against him. "People are staring." she mumbled wondering what they where thinking. She was fairly certain the girls where plotting her demise.

"Sorry about that. People stare when I'm around." Bruce answered. "I'll leave if you want me to, but...you should expect your face to be in the papers by tomorrow." He warned, looking apologetic.

"I don't care." Lori grinned. "They're staring because they're jealous." she kissed him once one then pulled him towards his car. "I'm glad he's jealous. I mean they're jealous." she blushed.

Bruce smirked slightly, knowing exactly what she meant. "Is there somewhere you need to go? I'll drive you." He said.

"Well I walked from work." Lori gestured towards the daily planet. "I guess I know why Clark took the day off now." she joked then sighed and shook her head. "I'm sorry Bruce. I just can't stop thinking about him. I guess some part of me still loves him."

Bruce nodded. "It's alright, I understand. You just broke up, I can't expect you to move on so quickly. Take as much time as you need." He paused. "Someone told me once that when we love someone, we never fully stop loving them. You'll always have a place for him in your heart, and that's fine."

Lori blinked. "Did Alfred tell you that?" she smiled. "If he did he's very smart.' she squeezed his hand. "Here when you want me to start working just call." she wrote her number down and tucked it into his shirt pocket.

Bruce smiled. "How did you know?" He chuckled. "Most of what I've learned in life has come from Alfred." He looked down at the note in his pocket. "I'll give you a call. Be ready to start this week."

''alright boss. Or Mister Wayne whatever you prefer." Lori grinned kissed his cheek once more then hurried off.

Joker made it home and feed his pets with a sigh. "What do I do?" he asked them.
