"So what's the plan?" Valerie asked cautiously, looking at the two handlers. She felt a little rattled knowing that she'd been targeted for kidnap and trafficking.
|
"You two are going to stay switched, but officially this time. We're going to work on finding out who this organization is and what their intentions are," Merlin told them.
|
Valerie paused at that.
"You... want us to stay switched?" she asked, making sure she heard right. "It sounds a little backwards, but yes," Coulson said, nodding once. "Think of it as... being a liason, if you will. Someone we know we can trust, who can help each agency understand the other better." |
"That makes sense," Callie agreed after a moment. "Still reporting back to you, at least once in a while, presumably?"
"We were thinking once a week to start," Merlin agreed. Because clearly he and Coulson had talked all this over already. |
Valerie nodded as she thought it over.
"Once a week is easy enough," she agreed. "Excellent," Coulson said. "Then Valerie, you'll be coming back with us. Though I'm sure you know that a suit isn't standard issue SHIELD gear." Valerie couldn't help but smirk. "But sir," she said sweetly, "I won't be there as SHIELD, I'll be there as Kingsmen, and Kingsmen wear bespoke suits." |
Merlin hid a snicker behind his clipboard. Coulson just sighed and didn't bother to argue that point.
"I kinda want one of my own now, it's pretty comfy," Callie commented. "I'm sure we can arrange something for you." Merlin looked far too amused now. |
"You can borrow one of mine," Valerie offered. "It'll fit about the same, after all."
|
"Yeah but it's still yours," Callie pointed out. "If I'm going to be here a while, I may as well get my own."
|
"Point, but still, in the meantime you can wear mine," Valerie said. She grinned. "But I'm not wearing your jumpsuits. Sorry, not sorry."
|
"I would have been more surprised if you did wear one," Callie said with a shrug, clearly not bothered by this.
"We'll be heading back to the States tomorrow afternoon," Coulson told Valerie. "Three o'clock. Don't be late." |
Valerie nodded.
"Yes, sir," she said. She grinned. "I need to pack my tea, and a spare service." |
"So long as you're not late, I don't care what you bring," Coulson told her. "We've got space on the jet."
|
Valerie just beamed. Oh yes, she was going to bring tea and a tea service and it was going to be wonderful. And, hey, she was headed back to the States and her sister would be fine now, and life was good.
|
Coulson shook his head a little but didn't object. And by the next day, he hadn't changed his mind.
Clint, on the other hand, was eyeing the twins. "Callie," he finally said, looking at the correct twin. "I swear if you get yourself kidnapped again I'm telling Steve." Callie actually paled at that. "Don't tell Steve, you wouldn't do that to me," she said, holding up her hands for peace. "Natasha don't let him sic Steve on me, or at least give me a heads up. I still have blackmail on you, Clint, keep that in mind." |
"Can't believe you pulled one over on us," Eggsy grumbled at Valerie. "Not cool."
"Merlin didn't fall for it," Valerie pointed out with a bit of a grin. "But Harry did." |
Callie grinned. "Harry definitely fell for it," she agreed, crashing their conversation and not caring one whit. "So did Clint. Pretty sure Nat knew from the beginning, though."
Natasha just smiled. |
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure she knew, too," Valerie agreed. She snickered. "Got you, though, Eggsy."
"'Ey, not my fault you both got the same bloody face," Eggsy defended. |
"Not to mention we're good at impersonating each other," Callie pointed out.
Coulson rolled his eyes as he passed them. "Wheels up in five," he said. Clint and Natasha were already ahead of him. |
"Yes sir," Valerie replied. She gave her sister one last hug and then grabbed her things. "I'll text you when we get there."
|
"Please do. Keep me updated." Callie smiled at her, letting her go. "Don't let Clint get to you. Threaten him with the spray bottle."
|
Valerie snickered at Clint's indignant squawk.
"Will do," she said. |
Callie grinned and waved her off, watching them actually depart before she huffed a bit and tucked her arm through Eggsy's.
"And now that the cat's out of the bag, I want the full tour of this place so I don't get lost again." |
Eggsy snickered.
"Yeah, don't blame you that," he said. "I got lost a couple times too." |
Callie grinned. "Good. Merlin will let us know if he needs something, I'm sure. And if you show me around I'll bake later."
|
Eggsy raised an eyebrow.
"You bake?" he asked. "Val cooks sometimes, but never bakes." |
