As always I'll do my best. Coulson grabbed his own go bag and headed for the jet. See you in eight hours or so.
This was going to be very interesting, and hopefully worth every bit of paperwork he'd have to do. |
Meanwhile, Valerie was finishing up grabbing her things, and was heading to the quinjet hangar. It was past the time she wanted to be gone, and she was getting antsy.
|
Clint and Natasha were both waiting there, chatting quietly. Natasha looked over at her and quirked an eyebrow.
"Twin, huh?" |
"I would ask how you know, but nothing is ever really a secret around here," Valerie said, hefting her bag up on her shoulder.
|
Natasha just smirked and motioned for her to go ahead and get on the jet. "Wheels up in five," she said. Clint snorted quietly and let himself in and straight to the controls.
|
Valerie nodded and got onto the jet, setting her bag down and strapping herself in. She couldn't wait to get to England so she could find her sister.
|
The trip took a little less than eight hours (because Barton was a menace but Coulson let it slide) before they were touching down.
"We're almost there," Coulson murmured, half to himself, half to Valerie, because she looked like she needed something to help ground her at this point. |
Valerie just nodded. As soon as they touched down, she would start heading for the tailor shop, and woe unto anyone who tried to stop her. She needed to find her sister.
|
Coulson sort of headed her off. Here meaning he had a car waiting for them, and he ushered her in while Clint threw their stuff in the trunk and Natasha slid in the driver's seat.
|
Valerie was still antsy even in the car; she fidgeted and kept glancing out the window, as if trying to make them get there faster. She fidgeted even more as the Kingsman Tailors storefront came into view.
|
Coulson let her out first but he did hold the door for everyone as they trooped inside.
"Ah, you're early," the shopkeeper said. "Right this way, if you please." |
Valerie nodded to the shopkeeper and followed him to the fitting rooms. The others had barely gotten into the room when Valerie reached for the trigger hook on the wall and pulled it, glancing at them as she did so.
"Careful," she murmured. "Sometimes the ride isn't smooth." |
"And how do you know that?" Coulson asked, voice mild, little smile in place. Natasha was smirking.
|
Valerie froze for a second as she scrambled for an excuse.
"My sister works here," she said. "I've heard all the bitching." |
"I see." Coulson let it go for the moment. After all, he already had his answer.
|
Valerie fidgeted all the way down the elevator, and into the tube. She knew exactly where she had to go to find Merlin, though she didn't miss the looks she was getting from Coulson and Natasha.
|
The ride to the estate was fairly quick, and Coulson looked around. He hadn't been out here in a long time.
Fortunately, Eggsy was already there to escort them up, on orders from Harry. |
To his credit, Eggsy didn't stare for very long.
"Bloody hell, you really do have the same face," he said when he saw Valerie. "Didn't believe it till now." "Yeah, I bet," Valerie muttered as she waited for him to lead the way. She knew where she was going, of course, but she also knew she couldn't move on ahead without some uncomfortable questions. |
Merlin was waiting for them inside, tapping away on his clipboard. He looked up when they entered and looked briefly surprised.
"Phil, I didn't expect you." Coulson smiled. "Yes, well, I decided to come along." |
Valerie blinked.
"You know each other?" she asked. She shook her head. "What am I talking about, of course you do, why not?" |
Phil smiled a little. "I know plenty of people," he said. Behind him, Clint coughed suspiciously.
"Yes, indeed," Merlin mused. "This way, please." He motioned for them to follow and headed for his office. |
Valerie glanced between them and then followed Merlin.
"Is there any update on my sister?" she asked as she followed. "Anything at all?" |
"Not yet," Merlin said. "But I have people working on it." And he knew Harry was personally very motivated to find her again.
|
"What do you have so far?" Valerie pressed. "You have to have something."
|
"Oh I have information," Merlin agreed. "Just not a location yet." He did glance over when he heard familiar footsteps heading towards his office. Ah. Harry was back from his most recent attempt, then.
