Charles caught the mental ping and frowned. This seemed important. He wheeled down to the infirmary to see what was going on.

"Hank?" he called.

"Professor," Hank said, looking at him. "I finished analyzing the foreign agent used on Mavin. It's... not good."

"Is she alright?" Charles asked. "Where is she?" He cautiously cast around with his telepathy, and his eyes widened when he found Mavin. "Oh. Oh my."

"She transformed and then finally fell asleep," Hank told him. "Her mutation was... kick started, for a lack of better term. Forcibly. By the drug she was given."

"This is troubling," Charles said. "Both the fact that there is a drug that can cause such a thing, and the fact that someone is willing to use it so recklessly."

Hank nodded. "We've seen the drug before, at least on paper," he said. "Or I have, it's crossed my desk once or twice. Up until now, as far as I'm aware, it had been nothing more than a potential, a possibility. Mutant growth hormone." He was quiet for a moment, looking at the results. "It looks like someone actually isolated it and stabilized it."

"That's worrisome," Charles murmured. "I've heard of it, but last I heard anything, it was far from complete enough for something like this. And it's obviously made Mavin's gift unstable. There's no telling what will happen when she tries to change back."

Hank nodded, frowning down at the results. "At the least, this has boosted her mutation," he said. "But there's no way to tell what else it may have done."

Charles sighed.

"Alright," he said. "Thank you for letting me know. I will ask Lucy to look after a Connor for a few days, until Mavin's condition can be assessed."

Hank nodded. "I'll keep an eye on her and alert you of any changes," he told Charles. "If any of those that attacked the crowd are still alive, perhaps have Storm ask them a few friendly questions?" He smiled faintly, because Storm in a rage was anything but friendly.

"I would, if Logan hadn't already gotten to them," Charles replied. "They were still not very forthcoming with answers. However, I have a few contacts I will reach out to, to see if any of them know more."

Hank nodded. "Very well," he agreed. He settled in to keep an eye on Mavin for the rest of the night.

Bucky got back to the mansion with Steve a while after everything had calmed down. Steve hadn't had to look into the incident, but he made sure he and Bucky had stayed out of things, which Bucky appreciated. Once they were back to the mansion, Bucky just quietly went into the main common room and glanced around for Lucy. She could tell him what happened.

Lucy wasn't in the common room. She was in the kitchen stress baking, because clearly that was an appropriate response. Fortunately Logan was on Connor duty for a while.

Bucky searched methodically until he found her in the kitchen. He lingered in the doorway for a moment, and then went in and sat down at the table.

"Cookies?" he asked quietly after a few moments, glancing at the ingredients scattered across the counters.

Lucy nodded. "Yeah," she murmured. "I'm making a few kinds." Because it was that kind of day, clearly. She already had a set of chocolate chip ones cooling, a set of lemon cookies in the oven, and she was finishing up the batter for snickerdoodles.

"Steve kept us out of it," Bucky said after a moment. "Still not sure what was even going on, everything was kind of a mess."

"Good call on his part," Lucy agreed. "It was a mess." She paused, glancing back at him. "Do you want to know? Or would you rather not?" She would, at least, give him that choice.

Bucky thought about it for a moment before deciding knowing was better than being kept in the dark, and nodded.

"Tell me," he said.

Lucy nodded and told him everything that had happened, and everything she knew up to this point. Her voice didn't shake, but her hands were trembling as she put the cookies in the oven to bake.

"So we're still trying to figure out why the MGH affected Mavin, but not Connor or I. Connor didn't get much of a dose, I don't think, but I did," Lucy finished.

"No idea," Bucky murmured. "Kids react differently to things. Might be why." He was quiet for another moment. "She alright? Your sister."

Lucy paused there and sighed. "As far as I can tell," she said. "She's having difficulty mastering the change. It's a new mutation, and the first change was caused by pain and stress, as far as we can tell."

"What could she do before?" Bucky asked. "Never actually saw her do anything."

"Minor mutation," Lucy said with a little shrug. "She could do things like change the color of her eyes and hair. Nothing major."

"Huh," Bucky murmured. "Pretty huge change, then, from that." He glanced at her. "And nothing happened to you, even though your power was bigger from the beginning?"
