No problem, Mavin said, snickering just a little. After a few more minutes, she hit the button for the elevator.

By then, Steve and Bucky were both out and dressed again and waiting in the living room. Steve was in the kitchen tidying up a bit, keeping an eye on the door and Bucky.

Mavin stepped out of the elevator and glanced around.

"Hey," she said, nodding to them. She looked at Bucky. "I'm supposed to evaluate you after the fight, make sure you're okay."

Bucky nodded, fidgeting a little where he sat.

"Make yourself comfortable," Steve told her, shooting her a quick smile. He wasn't happy the UN felt they needed to reevaluate Bucky, again, but at least it was just Mavin.

“I’ll try to make the questions quick, at least,” Mavin said as she sat down across from Bucky, so he had enough space not to feel crowded. “But they do want me to just observe, too. I’ll do what I can to make it as painless as possible.”

Bucky nodded once to show he'd heard. He wasn't happy about it, but there wasn't anything he could do to stop her, either.

Mavin took a moment to look over her instructions, then decided to just jump right in.

“Do you feel any different now than you did before the fight?” she asked.

"No." Bucky was watching her, sitting very still, though he was clearly not in Soldier mode.

"At any point during the fight, did you feel yourself slipping?" Mavin went on. She jotted down a few notes about his body language and his general apparent mood.

Bucky shook his head. "No. I was in control."

"Okay." Mavin made note of that as well. "Those were the important questions. Aside from those, I'm just supposed to observe. Is that alright with you?"

Bucky blinked but nodded. "Yeah," he agreed quietly. "S'alright."

“Thank you,” Mavin said. “If at any point you’re not comfortable with the observation, let me know and we can work something out.”

Bucky nodded, already determined to not let it bother him to that point.

"Not so bad," Steve agreed with a little grin aimed at Mavin.

"I didn't honestly expect it would be," Mavin said, nodding. She got up and tucked away the questions from the UN. "Now I just try to settle in somewhere out of the way for the evening."

"Anywhere you like, you won't be in the way," Steve assured her, moving around the kitchen again.

Bucky rolled his eyes at the two of them but settled in as well.

"Oh I'm sure I'm in the way," Mavin said, glancing at Steve. "I just want to stay as out of the way as possible." She sighed. "I left Connor with Lucy again. I hate doing that to her so often."

"She doesn't seem to mind," Steve pointed out. "Besides, she's got the best help she could ask for, and they probably fight over who gets to take over for her."

“I know,” Mavin said. She sighed a bit. “But it’s not fair to her that I have to keep leaving him with her, and I mean, he’s my son, I don’t like leaving him so often to begin with.”

Steve nodded. "I can imagine that's rough," he agreed. "If you wanted, you could bring him around. I know there's a daycare somewhere in the tower for employees, Tony wouldn't mind if you dropped off Connor there once in a while. Might work when you have to be here anyway." He shrugged a bit.

Mavin was quiet for a moment, considering that.

"We'll see," she said finally. "Maybe if this turns out to be a regular thing. I'd rather not impose more than I need to."

Steve didn't push, just nodded his acceptance of that. That was good enough for now. "You want anything in particular for dinner?" he asked instead. "I was gonna get started on something." He grinned. "Or start chopping things. Buck insists that's all I'm good for in the kitchen."

Mavin blinked at the change in subject, but shook her head a bit.

"No real preference," she said. She grinned. "Feels odd for someone to ask me what I want. Usually I'm trying to make something a picky five-year-old will eat. But I can help cook, if the extra hands are needed?"

Steve shrugged. "Have to leave that up to Bucky," he said with a bit of a grin. "I usually get shooed out of the kitchen once everything's chopped to his satisfaction."

Bucky snorted at him and stood, going to go investigate what Steve was pulling out. "You can get a pot of water going," he told Mavin. "If you want."

Mavin nodded and did so, poking around a little before she found a good pot and got it going on the stove. She jumped a little when the stove beeped cheerfully at her and she side-eyed it warily.
