Belle blinked then nodded a little. "Yeah." she frowned worried about Cal.

Belle lead the way over to the vampire in charge of the meetups.

They took Rose's blood and Belle got her a juice box. "Now we just have to convince Cal to come to the meet and greet."

Belle nodded. "Do you think maybe his siblings died?" she whispered the sentence glancing around.

Belle grunted in agreement trying to figure out what it could be.

The person leading the event grinned right at him. "First up we have Todd who is paired up with Belle."

Belle smiled at Todd. "What a surprise."

"So nice weather huh?" Belle grinned at his back. "I mean usually it's wet and cold but." she shrugged.

Alex grinned when he got paired up with Rose. "That was perfect." he took her hand grinning.

Todd rolled his eyes. "You're something else, you know that?" He asked, but he was smiling. "I didn't know vampires donated blood."

Rosemary raised an eyebrow. "Was that really a coincidence?" She asked suspiciously.

"I didn't." Belle shrugged. "It was just good luck." she grinned at him. "Nothing more."

"Maybe." Alex chuckled. "I just want to spend more time with you." he kissed her hand.

"You're lying." Todd said casually. "At least, partially. Let me guess, Rosemary donated for you, didn't she?"

Rosemary sighed, but she was smiling. "Okay, but don't do that too often." She said. "I'm really not worth that much."

Belle chuckled. "What if she did? She's worried about you." she paused and shuffled her feet. "So am I." she mumbled so low he wasn't sure he had heard it.

Alex nodded. "I promise. Besides as much as I like you Holiday would stop us from being partners. She would say we need to make friends with others."

Todd stopped and turned to look at her. "You're worried...about me?" He asked, somewhat disbelieving.

Rosemary nodded. "I admire Holiday, but there's still a lot she doesn't know. Making other friends...I've already made all the friends I'll ever make."

"Well then she would say to get along with them." Alex frowned at her a little but kept his mouth shut.

"Well yes." Belle glared. "Don't make me say it again."

"But I do. I get along with you and Belle and Todd. You guys are my friends." Rosemary said with a smile.

Todd blushed. "Okay. Um. Thank you." He said. After a moment he cleared his throat. "Alright so obviously you wanted to talk about something, or you wouldn't have gone to so much trouble. What's on your mind?"

Alex blinked. "Yeah I guess so." he frowned a little and let it go. "So what do you want to do?"

Belle took a breath. "Don't be mad but you where acting weird when we where talking about siblings earlier...did something happen?"

Rosemary smiled. "Let's go by the lake. That way we can talk and only the animals could interrupt." She said.

Todd winced. "No holding back, huh? Alright..." He looked around. "Come with me." He grabbed her hand and pulled her along to a more secret spot near the river. He sat down on a large, flat rock, tugging her along with him. "I'm trusting you with this, okay? You can't tell anyone."

"Scouts honor." Belle held up her hand in scout fashion.

"Deal." Alex lead the way to a spot with shade and sat down. "Want to go for a swim?"

Rosemary blushed slightly. "That does sound nice, but I'd have to go get my swimsuit." She said. She was wearing white and there was no way she was about to jump in the water wearing white.

Todd nodded and took a deep breath. "Okay. The truth is I don't actually have...a family. Like, at all." He sighed. "The chameleons at the compound took me in when I was just five years old. My parents weren't chameleons...they were both mixed breeds. Something happened to them...I don't know what it was. I don't remember. But there was blood and screaming." He shook his head. "Anyway, the chameleons found me, and when they realized I was a first generation chameleon, they took me in. I was never really settled in with one family- they each took turns taking care of me. Or...not taking care of me. Either way. Point is I'm supposed to be a secret. No one's ever known a chameleon like me before, one who didn't have a chameleon parent. I'm kind of a medical mystery, and I've been hidden from the FRU my whole life. Just being here is a risk, but I couldn't stay at the compound...they were planning to marry me off." He sighed again. "So that's it. I have no family, I'm an orphan and kind of sensitive about it, and I'm not really supposed to exist."

Belle stared at him for a second trying to form a response. "And I thought my life was screwed up." she mumbled. "OK first a question. Who where you suppose to marry?" she frowned. "Second you know the FRU isn't all bad right? You've meet Burnett he's a teddy bear. Why didn't you ran away sooner? If your not suppose to be here why are none of the other Chameleon's turning you in? Did you strike a deal with the adults? Or with the other teenagers?" she took a breath and punched his arm. "Of course your suppose to exist! Your parents obviously loved each other very much because your here! And your not an orphan because you have all of us now!"
