Peggy snorted quietly at that. "I'm not surprised," she murmured. "He seems to enjoy any kind of challenge, really."
"He is rather easily bored," Kurama agreed. "Though it helps that Kuwabara gives him the spirit detective cases that Koenma hands down, it keeps him busy."
"He needs another hobby besides being spirit detective." Peggy paused for a moment. "And apparently being married."
Kurama gave a slight grin.
"No one can deny that they're very happily married," he said. "Although I'm certain you knew that already?" He glanced at her, hoping the gentle prod would bring forth more information. |
Peggy snorted quietly. "Oh I know. We went out for a day with the two of them and Yukina, it was a lot of fun. I mean, Yusuke and Keiko have always bickered like an old married couple, but it's even funnier now that they are married." She grinned a bit.
"Very little has changed, with them," Kurama agreed, nodding. He glanced at her. "I must admit, I'm curious as to what you know about us all."
Peggy was quiet for a moment. "Quite a bit, I suppose," she said after a moment. "The show covered a few years of your lives, after all."
"Interesting," Kurama said. "You must have seen quite a few major events, then."
"Yeah, I'd agree to that," Peggy agreed. "I saw the Dark Tournament, all the stuff with Sensui, things in the Makai..." She trailed off.
"That's quite a bit," Kurama said. He looked at her. "May I ask what your thoughts are on what you've seen?"
Peggy blinked at that and internally flailed for a moment. "I mean, it makes sense? It influenced a lot of what I see now." She shrugged a bit. "If that makes sense."
"I'm afraid I don't follow," Kurama said with a slight frown, trying to sort through what she was saying.
Peggy huffed a bit. "Right, sorry. I mean, I watched this all growing up, so I was watching you all go through the events and growing kind of while I was. So seeing where you are now makes sense."
"Ah," Kurama said. He nodded. That did make more sense. And, if he was inferring correctly, it indicated that she had likely gotten emotionally invested at some point. He filed that information away for later. "I suppose it makes things a little easier for you now, though?"
"In a way, it does," Peggy agreed. "I know what people are talking about, at least, and I know some of your past and habits and such." She glanced at him. "But you've also changed some. Like Keiko and Yusuke getting married, that happened sometime in the past ten years. Actually threw me off for a minute."
"Interesting," Kurama said, thinking about that. "That actually gives me a rather good idea of where your knowledge cuts off, then, because Yusuke and Keiko were engaged very soon after his return from the Makai, when the first Makai king tournament concluded."
Peggy nodded. "It was ten years ago, thereabouts," she said. "That my knowledge ends. Approximately." She shrugged.
Kurama nodded.
"Yes, Keiko and Yusuke married around that time," he agreed. "Perhaps slightly less than that." |
Peggy nodded. "Makes sense," she agreed. "As far as I can tell, that's the biggest difference. Or at least the thing that most surprised me."
"Interesting," Kurama murmured. He had plenty to mull over now. He ignored Youko in the back of him mind whispering to get closer to the girl to find out exactly what she knew. There was no need for that, and he was certain Peggy would tell him more eventually. He looked at her again. "How are you handling being away from your own world for so long?"
Peggy blinked at that before she shrugged. "Fine? I'm not really missing much. Work was work, nothing special. Not like I have any pets to look after, and my best friend is already here." She glanced at him, one eyebrow slightly raised at the question still.
Kurama raised an eyebrow in return.
"You would agree that I may know something about being in the wrong world, as it were?" he pointed out. "I merely thought to offer my assistance if you were having a hard time." |
Peggy actually blushed faintly at that and ducked her head to hide it. "Well," she murmured. "I think so far I've been too busy to really get homesick, and everyone has been quite nice. But some less acerbic companionship than Genkai might not go amiss."
Kurama laughed lightly.
"Master Genkai does mean well," he said. "But I do understand what you mean. She can be... abrasive." |
"Indeed." Peggy was quiet for a moment. "She does care, in her own way, but she doesn't like showing that she does."
