"Um, hi?" Winter said, giving an awkward little wave.
"Kagome, these are the two I told you about," Inuyasha said. "Just dropping them off. I can't stay, I have to get back, I'll call you later and let you know what happens with the other clans." |
Kagome nodded. "Alright. Let me know if anything else unexpected happens." She grinned and ushered the two girls over to her.
Peggy headed over, grinning. "Thank you for the ride," she murmured to Inuyasha as she drew level with him. |
Inuyasha just waved as he headed back to his car. Time to go see how badly his brother had riled the other clans.
Winter let herself be ushered over to Kagome, still looking around a bit. The place definitely felt peaceful, and something tingled along the edge of her spiritual senses, but she couldn't quite put her metaphysical finger on what it was. |
"So you two dropped in." Kagome smiled. "Come on inside. I have a feeling we'll want some tea."
Peggy nodded and followed Kagome's lead, toeing off her shoes before she stepped inside. |
Winter did the same.
"Yeah, that's a pretty accurate description of what happened," she admitted. |
"How did you end up dropping in?" Kagome asked curiously as she led them inside.
"I can teleport and I screwed up," Winter said as she followed Kagome. "I'm Winter, by the way."
"I'm Peggy." She grinned a bit.
"It's pretty obvious you didn't mean to be here," Kagome agreed. "I'm guessing you can't just go home? Or have you not tried yet?" |
"There hasn't been a chance yet," Winter admitted. "And that's what I was trying to do in the first place, and I landed us here."
"What do you mean?" Kagome carried a tea pot over to a low table and motioned for them to sit as she gathered up three cups for them.
"I was trying to get us home," Winter said, sitting down at the low table. "And I thought I had a handle on it, and apparently not, because I ended up dropping us in the middle of that meeting."
"Where were you before?" Kagome asked quietly, frowning a little. That sounded odd, and she was pretty sure there was more to the story.
Winter hesitated, and then decided Kagome was fairly likely to actually believe them from the start.
“Another world, more or less,” she said. “I had managed to unintentionally make the jump from our world to the other one, and when I tried to get us home, we ended up here.” |
"Another world entirely?" Kagome looked interested. "Why don't you tell me everything? From the start."
“Are you sure?” Winter asked. “It’s kind of a long story.”
"I've got time," Kagome assured her. "Take your time, tell me everything." She had a feeling this was going to be very interesting.
Winter glanced at Peggy, and then started at the beginning, from the incident at the bank. She outlined everything that had happened, although she held back on the whole TV show thing for the moment. She wasn’t sure how Kagome would react to that quite yet.
Kagome sat in silence for a few moments after she's finished speaking. "That's... a lot," she agreed. "It sounds like you two are handling all of this really well, though. I have a bit of experience myself in being where I'm not supposed to."
“We were freaking out at first,” Winter said. “A lot. Now I think we’re kind of just rolling with it.”
Kagome nodded wisely. "Going with it is the best course of action," she agreed. "Now that you're here, though... sounds like you could use a few friends. Or at least some allies." She grinned, and there was a very particular glint in her eyes.
Winter saw the glint in her eyes.
“Allies would be nice,” she said, just slightly wary. “Friends would be better.” |
"I can work with that," Kagome agreed easily. "No problem. Especially since you two are clearly fine with demons." Her wink said that she hadn't missed the ease with which they treated Inuyasha, and the general lack of screaming and/or freaking out.
“This isn’t the first time we’ve encountered them, or something very similar,” Winter admitted. “We’ve done our freaking out.”
Kagome grinned. "Good," she agreed. "If you're going to be here for a while, I don't doubt that Sesshomaru will want to talk more." She paused. "Well. As much as he ever talks."
"I have no idea how long we'll be here," Winter said. She considered for a moment. "Is it okay if I experiment a bit? I want to know how easy it is for me to get across the shrine. Last time this happened, I tried to get across the grounds of a temple and it put me on the ground with a migraine."
