Dis considered that for a moment.

"They remind me a little of Fili and Kili," she finally said. "The entire journey here, they were courteous and dutiful, if more well-behaved than my sons. And they seem to have an uncanny knack for predicting the weather."

Thorin's eyebrows rose a little at that. "Do they indeed? That could be a useful tool," he murmured. "So, do you think it likely they will want to stay?"

"Given how they greeted your consort, brother, I think it is safe to say that they will want to stay, at least for a while," Dis replied, grinning a bit. "From what I understand, hobbits are a close-knit sort."

"Not unlike dwarves," Thorin agreed. He'd learned that dwarves and hobbits weren't so very different, after all. "Hmm. I suppose it won't hurt to let them stay for a while, as long as they write to their home."

"I'm sure it will not take much to make them do so," Dis said, nodding a bit. She grinned just a little. "Perhaps it might be worthwhile to let Bilbo go back and retrieve his belongings, if he is going to be living here from now on."

Thorin was quiet for a moment. "Perhaps," he agreed. "But not immediately. It's a long journey, and winter would set in before we arrived."

"No," Dis agreed. "You're right, spring is best. That will give you the winter to get affairs in the mountain back into order, as well."

Thorin nodded. Good, they were in agreement on that much, at least. "Fili has been working with me the past few weeks," he told her. "Now that I have an actual throne, rather than just an honorary one."

"Good," Dis said. "He will be thankful for the experience, when the time comes that it's his turn."

Thorin nodded. "Kili is helping some as well, although he's not as attentive." He grinned a bit. "Not that I expected him to be."

"It is still a good experience for him," Dis said. "It should keep him out of trouble, for the most part."

"As much as is possible," Thorin agreed. "We will have to set up a full, official council soon." He made a face at that.

"I will help with that," Dis said. "Anything you need, brother."

Thorin nodded gratefully. "I do appreciate that," he murmured. "Thank you."

Dis stood up and stretched a little.

"Come," she said. "We should go and see how much trouble Fili and Kili are trying to get into. And you should check and make sure your guests have everything they need."

Thorin nodded his agreement and held the door open for her. It was good to have his sister back.

Or it would be until she tried to kill him for something or another.

Elsewhere, Hyacinth was grilling Bilbo on what the adventure had been like, and had ended up turning the conversation back around to her soon-to-be cousin.

"You know, there's a stitch I learned back home, they call it a dragon scale stitch," she said. "I brought one of my hooks with me, so as long as I can get my hands on good yarn, I can probably make the blanket for the child with the dragon scale stitch." She grinned. "The most unique blanket ever for a babe."

Bilbo snorted. "Well, the mountain doesn't have much by way of yarn," he told her. "But Laketown has some. Traders have started coming again too, so you might be able to find some from them."

"Excellent," Hyacinth said, grinning. She moved over so she was sitting next to Bilbo and leaned against him a bit. Hobbits were a rather cuddly bunch with kin, and Hyacinth was certain Bilbo hadn't been getting enough cuddles. "I want to see if I can find angora or cashmere yarn, but I suspect that might be a bit of a challenge if you say trade only just opened up again."

Bilbo chuckled. "You're more likely to find wool around here, but given time I'm sure you could find angora." He settled in there, wrapping his arm around her.

"Wool will work," Hyacinth said, nodding a bit. "As long as it's soft enough."

"And even if it's not, we can make it softer easily enough," Bilbo pointed out. "So that won't be a problem."

"It all hinges on finding yarn," Hyacinth said. "My little cousin will have the best blanket I can make."

Bilbo chuckled and nodded. "Tomorrow, perhaps, we'll venture down to Dale and see what we can find."

"That sounds good," Hyacinth said, nodding. She grinned a bit. "And don't forget, you should write back home, to let everyone know you're alright."
