Alana just huffed and clung to the back of the seat in front of her with a grim determination. Why oh why did she still let Pepper bribe her with gorgeous shoes.
Tony managed to park the car neatly in a spot when they got to the museum.
"See, that wasn't so bad," he said as he got out. |
"Says you." Alana got out carefully, taking a moment before she straightened her shoulders and headed for the entrance. "Come on, we'll be late."
"Thought they didn't want me here to begin with," Tony pointed out, smirking.
"No but it'll only be worse if you're late," Alana pointed out, rolling her eyes. She let herself in and checked in at the front desk before heading back towards the section where the new exhibit was going up.
"Athena!" |
Athena snarled to herself when she heard her name and turned around. She paused when she saw her sister and sighed.
"Already?" she said plaintively. "I have so much to do." |
"Don't worry," Alana said. "We'll keep it quick and stay out of your way as much as possible."
Tony snorted at the very pointed look aimed his way and ignored it with aplomb. "Well, this is cute," he said, looking around. Alana just hung her head and looked vaguely like she wanted to shoot herself. |
"I'm glad you think so, Mr. Stark," Athena replied, a little waspishly, "considering it's not done yet."
"Yeah, no, got that part," Tony said, looking around. "Huh. This actually makes more sense than when it was stored." He smirked a little.
"No kidding," Athena said. "It's actually organized here. And arranged aesthetically." She glanced at him even as she stepped to one side to let one of the assistants through with a new display case.
"Storage is arranged," Tony said. "By year. I think. Something like that, I never paid attention."
"That's just painful to listen to," Athena said, shaking her head a bit. She glanced over at her assistants. "Hey, careful with that! Those pages are delicate! They don't go under the spotlights, they go under the diffused flood lights!"
Tony watched her, grinning a bit. "Well I'm not in charge of storage so I don't know how it works."
"Yes, well, I wish I was so that I could be certain all of these things are properly kept," Athena said once she was sure her assistants weren't going to destroy any of the pieces.
Tony shrugged. That wasn't his problem. "So you've got things under control, good, looks good so far." He headed further into the exhibit, looking around.
"Touch anything and I will skin you alive starting with your fingertips," Athena threatened. She paused when a runner came up to her and murmured something to her. She snorted. "Okay, I'll deal with him."
She immediately went over the doorway splitting this gallery from the next, and leaned past the temporary barricade. Through the doorway was a display of ancient artifacts that she was fairly certain had a magical one in it. "Stephen, stop being an asshole to my assistants." |
Tony looked over to see who warranted that kind of tone and did a double-take when he saw Stephen Strange. "You!"
"Hello again Tony." Stephen smiled blandly because he knew it infuriated Tony. On cue, Tony visibly started puffing up. "No," Alana said dryly, glowering at both of them. "Stop it, no." |
"Do not start anything, not in my gallery," Athena snarled at them both. "Do. Not. Not here, not now, I will disembowel you both with a butter knife."
Strange looked amused. Tony looked like a puffed up cat, and also vaguely affronted. Alana just sighed and gave Tony a stiff shove in the opposite direction.
"Stephen, finish what you came here to do," Athena said, sending him a Look. "Do not antagonize Stark. I have too much to do today to run herd on visitors."
"Looks like he's under control anyway," Stephen said, but he turned back to the items he was examining anyway.
"Stephen..." Athena sighed. "You're being an asshole again."
"Aren't I normally? That's usually one of the complaints." Stephen carefully picked up an item, frowning as he examined it.
"You are, and you need to not be," Athena said. "I have to get back to my job. Don't antagonize Stark and stop being an asshole to my assistants."
Stephen just grinned and waved his fingers at her. He'd keep out of trouble well enough.
