"You're not his only lawyers," Alana pointed out. "If you accept, you would be on call, yes, but never obligated to a case if you already have too much going on."

That made Matt raise an eyebrow. So far, he didn't hear a downside to this. He nudged Foggy a little to see what his partner thought about it.

"That... Almost sounds too good to be true," Foggy said, unconsciously echoing Matt.

"Well, you'll be dealing with matters of dubious legality for Mr. Stark and the Avengers. There is no precedent for many of these issues concerning superheroes, or vigilantes." Alana shrugged.

Ah, there was the catch. Matt knew there had to be one.

"Dubious legality?" he echoed. He wanted to be clear on that point, even though he knew he really had no room to complain when it came to vigilante work and he knew it.

"There are very few, if any, laws concerning these matters," Alana said. "The Avengers work wherever they're needed, regardless of country lines and allegiances. They've already gotten in trouble over it, but Captain America has been... adamant on that topic." She smiled a little.

"We've heard," Matt replied with a bit of a smirk. "Can we talk this over and get back to you about it?"

"Of course." Alana gave him a rather approving look and handed her personal business card to Foggy, who took it. "Call me whenever you decide."

"We will," Foggy told her, looking down at the card.

Matt nodded in agreement.

"We will definitely give you a call soon," he said.

Alana nodded. "Very good. I look forward to hearing from you." She smiled at them and showed herself out of the office.

Matt waited until her footsteps disappeared down the hall and out of the building, and then he turned to Foggy.

"This might be a good thing for us," he said. "This could really help us get on our feet."

"But questionable legality could mean a lot of things," Foggy pointed out. "This could also end really, really poorly for us."

"Foggy." Matt gave him a bit of a Look. "Come on, we can handle something like that. We know what we're doing. And this can help us keep helping people and still, y'know, pay the bills that are piling up."

Foggy nodded, mulling it over for a few more moments. "We need to work out a contract," he murmured. "So we don't have to drop any of our cases, or in case something important comes up."

"We can do that," Matt said, nodding. He grinned. "You're even good at it." He was quiet for a second. "We don't have to do it right this minute. Let's take a day, sleep on it, and talk about it again tomorrow. See if it still seems like a good idea then."

"Right. Good plan." Foggy paused.

"Matt. Matt if we do this we might have enough money for bagels more than once a month."

"Foggy, if we do this, we can afford to put AC in the office, pay Karen, and get decent office equipment," Matt replied, grinning. "Just imagine being able to do all of that."

Foggy grinned. Oh that was a nice thought.

"Decision tomorrow," he reminded them both. "Sleeping on it is a sound idea." But that didn't mean he wouldn't go start on a draft of the contract, though.

"Right," Matt said, nodding. "Tomorrow." He grinned. "Today, we have cases."

Foggy nodded. "So, are you taking the dog case or am I?"

"You can," Matt said, grinning. "I'm sure they'll want someone with working eyes to... attest to the attractiveness of the statue."

Foggy snorted and shook his head. "Oh, speaking of attractiveness, don't think I didn't notice you turning on the charm for the good looking lady," he hissed, mostly teasingly.

"Was she good-looking?" Matt asked, grinning a bit. "Couldn't tell."

Foggy snorted. "Please, Matt, finding good-looking women and charming them is your actual super power."

"not all of them," Matt protested, grinning a bit. "I mean, there's Karen. And I'm pretty sure Claire wants to stab me sometimes."

"You charmed Karen too at the beginning, she's just become immune," Foggy protested. "And Claire is clearly a saint for putting up with you." He grinned.
