Justice Is Blind
 

Alana huffed to herself as she flopped back in her chair at her desk. It was past time for her to have left, but Tony had done something again and she'd had to do some emergency work.

One of these days I'm going to kill Tony, I swear to Thor. She sent the text off to her sister before gathering up her stuff and leaving the office for the night. It was already after dark, but oh well. Not like she was going to get into any trouble on her walk home. And I'll be accompanying him to your museum tomorrow, at least to start.

Why is he going to show up unannounced? Athena asked warily, watching her phone for the reply. This counts as unannounced, we usually need at least a day to prepare for a visit like that.

Because he's Tony and he wants to see what you guys are actually doing with the stuff he donated rather than having time to prep and redirect, came the reply. He is, frankly, ridiculous. Don't blame me. I tried to talk him out of this nonsense.

We literally open in five days, he can't wait five days? Athena made an aggrieved sound. The walls aren't even completely painted yet.

Apparently not. I tried, I really did, but he wants to come look for himself. If it's any consolation, he does know that you'll be opening in five days so I don't think he'll stay too long. Alana shook her head, taking her normal short cut. And I swear if ranting about Tony makes me get mugged I'm going to clock him.

He had better not get in the way, Athena replied. We have too much to do, and we have Strange coming in to go over a couple of pieces for another section to make sure there's nothing magic hidden in them.

I'll make sure Tony doesn't get in the way and is not there while Strange is there, I can make this happen. Alana made a face. Sometimes I wonder why I'm still doing this. Then I look at all the candid Avengers shots I have.

You still owe me a copy of the frilly apron ironing board roomba surfing. Athena couldn't help but snicker at that. She'd heard about that misadventure.

I can do that, not a problem. Alana looked around and grimaced. Street lights are out again down my short cut, fml. Might have to go for a bit. I'll never hear the end of it if I get mugged heading home.

Be careful on your way. Text me when you make it to the building. Athena kept her phone nearby, just in case

Alana made it home without problems, heading into the building. Back safe, all is well, see you in a minute.

She didn't jog up the stairs, because she didn't have the energy for that. But she did eventually make her way up to their floor and let herself inside.

"Hey," Athena called from the other room when she heard the door open. "Welcome back."

"Thanks." Alana dropped her shoes next to the door. They were very nice shoes, she adored them, but right now they were evil death traps in disguise. "How was your day?"

"Ridiculous," Athena replied from where she was sprawled on the couch. "Nobody can agree on what color to paint the walls, and how to display some of the older pieces next to the newer ones, since the older ones can't take as much light as the new ones can. And all of the posters and paper display pieces have to be put under glass and low lights, but the alpha-model Arc reactor needs its own pedestal display under a spotlight, and I don't have separate galleries to split this all up in."

Alana snorted. "So, a lot of logistics shit that you will deal with but it's a pain in the butt." She got down her vodka, pouring herself a generous bit and adding cranberry juice. "Oh what a day."

"I swear to god if Stark tries to backseat drive on my gallery I will end him," Athena threatened, although she didn't get up from her place on the couch.

"No you can't do that," Alana said. "I can do that, or get Pepper to do that. You're like at the back of the line at this point." She grinned a bit.

"Then he'd better not interfere," Athena said, stretching a little. She flopped back down with a sigh.

"I can't promise anything, you know this," Alana told her. "It's Tony, no one can guarantee anything."

"I just don't want him in the way," Athena said. "Or worse, touching things. Bad enough we have to touch things to put them up. I would pay a lot of money for a competent telekinetic to not-touch things."

Alana snickered at the ranting. "I know, I know," she said, waving a hand. "I've heard all this. Don't get your knickers in a twist over possibilities."

"I can't not worry about it," Athena grumped. "It's literally my job."

Alana huffed a bit. "Well then worry about it tomorrow when you're on the clock again," she said, rolling her eyes. "Honestly."

Athena snorted.

"As if either of us are ever truly off the clock," she replied, grinning a bit.

"We kind of are," Alana protested. "Moreso when I threaten them if they disturb me, but still." She grinned.
