Olivia snorted at that. "As if you would," she said, shaking her head. "You like the cute little birdies as much as I do." She grinned teasingly.
"Plenty of mice in the castle," Cat pointed out, grinning a Cheshire cat grin.
"Mice are fair game," Olivia conceded. "As usual." She shook her head a bit, amused.
"I could very easily leave you a lot of them," Cat teased, nudging her a bit. Then she stretched a bit and flopped back. "But I won't."
Olivia snorted quietly and shook her head, amused. "Uh huh. So, apart from this new mystery that's got you curious, anything else on your mind?"
Cat shook her head a bit.
"Not really," she said. "Mostly just the mystery of Lupin. Why, did you have anything you wanted to get off your chest?" |
"Not really." Olivia shrugged a bit. "Just curious." She paused for a moment. "Still no updated plan to smuggle my niffler home, though."
"We'll figure something out," Cat soothed. "Even if we have to stuff it into a basket and charm the top closed to get it on the train." She paused. "Though it might be easier than we think, I swear I heard the magical creatures professor making noise about retiring early."
"What's that got to do with making things easier?" Olivia asked, blinking at her. "I already get the niffler whenever I want, not like the professor objects at this point."
"Yeah, but no professor means we'll probably have an easier time sneaking it away from the grounds for good," Cat replied.
"This is true," Olivia agreed, grinning briefly. "Just means he'll get to come home this summer."
"So long as you keep him out of my jewelry box," Cat said, grinning a bit. "I can't be held responsible for what happens to the little platypus bandit if he gets into it."
"No, he stays outside. Not in the house. Can you imagine the havoc he would wreak?"
Cat snickered.
"Gran would kill us," she said. She paused. "Yeah, no, I'd get lumped in too, she'd kill us both." |
"Yeah she would," Olivia agreed with a grin. "For not restraining me."
"Exactly," Cat replied. She rolled her eyes. "At least it's not the kneazle you brought home and set loose in the neighborhood. I'm fairly certain there's a colony of barn cats that are all part kneazle now."
Olivia snorted at that. "Possible," she admitted after a moment. "But hey, that was fun. It still comes for a visit once in a while."
"It does," Cat said, grinning. "And this summer I'll finally be allowed to make the change at home, so I'll probably see it when I go explore the neighborhood."
"You probably will." Olivia was still grinning, totally unrepentant.
Cat grinned, and then paused.
"Oh hell, I'm going to have to tell Gran about the change," she said. "She doesn't know yet that I can do it." |
Olivia snickered. "Have fun with that conversation," she said cheerfully, because at least she didn't have that problem.
"Hush you," Cat said, giving her a bit of a shove. "I'm not looking forward to that."
Olivia snickered. "It'll be fine," she said, semi-soothingly. "It'll go great."
"At least Gran likes cats," Cat said with a sigh. She stretched a little. "I think I'm going to head back to my own house. Password changed the other day, by the way, so you'll need the new one if you feel like visiting to watch the inside of the lake."
"Okay. I'll let you know ahead of time if I decide to drop by." Olivia yawned. "For now, though, I'm good."
