I smiled and finished my soup.
"May I have seconds?" I asked politely. "Well, you're all child hood friends, so i'm assuming Winry has loved you longer. You should go with her." he yawned. "Sounds like the speech i gave to Havoc a few weeks ago.." he said quietly. "Well, Ed, youre a blond, blind idiot who doesnt take hints very well, if she had to explode all of this out at you now, then Im sure of it." he stopped walking and turned swiftly towards him. "If you love her or not, you should tell her. Think about it first, because it may ruin your friendship with her, or Shiba, depending on whom you choose. And who knows... the loser may end up with the younger brother." He'd glanced over at Alphonse and winked. |

"YOU'RE NOT HELPING!!!" Edward screamed. He heaved a heavy sigh and rubbed his forehead out of worry. "Roy, you suck at this thing you know that....wai--why are you even HERE?!" Not one of the things the Colonel had said made Edward feel any better...and he was starting to think he'd followed them all the way out here just to torture him. Alphonse blushed, Love wasn't on his plate at the moment...not that he could see, and he certainly wasn't looking for it. "You're just joking.." He laughed...but it was a little laugh...that bordered on nervousness. "I've been wondering the same thing...are you on leave Colonel?" |
He shrugged and started his way again, pushing his hands into his pockets.
"Sorry for stopping by while I was in the neighborhood. I got a lead on Scar here, so I thought Id stop by the Rockbell's when a blond squirt came rushing past me. Sorry for being so concerned. Good luck then." He started walking away. "Just make the right choice." [sorry i didnt respond right away, i'm feeling a bit nauseas and I ate an apple to calm my stomach. I had a long day and my eyes hurt XD] |
Edward looked over at Alphonse.
"Hey wait...you don't think that 'old--' OOF!" Alphonse jerked his elbow out of his brother's ribs while he once more made strangling gestures and smiled at the Colonel. "I'm sure he will," He bowed. "Thank you for all your advice Colonel." Edward glared. "I'm..." "--going to kill me, I know Ed, I know, but you'll thank this corpse one day..if you'll just listen to yourself." "Shut up." He merely smiled to himself and waved a hand at the boys not looking back. "For your sake, Fullmetal, I hope its the right choice." he said quietly, and disappeared into the night. Thump. Thump. THUMP! I quirked an eyebrow and looked at the ceiling. "What is she doing up there?" Den dashed up the steps and pushed her door open with his head. She was cleaning her room, throwing the tools across the room into their homes into the toolbox and Den seemingly smiled at her and sat down. She continued to clean, picking up nuts and bolts and washers and throwing them into the chest. her eyes were still glassy. [i dont know what else to do, I dont want Winry and Shiba together; I hate Winry and I'm trying not to show that through Shibas actions XD] |

Edward sent Alphonse on back to the house ahead of him, and he stood out in the dark pondering. "What should I do." "Idiot!" He sighed, with a shake of his head...still after all this time, was the Water Sprite not gone!? Her voice rang in his head loudly...and he sighed. "Think about what you feel moron! Who did you like first?" "Shiba...I think." "Don't Think KNOW!" "Alright...Shiba." "Good, now how do you feel about Winry?" "She's...she's home." "Family, right?" "I guess.""Then you have your answer Shorty. Go back there and fight for what you want, don't let yourself get pushed around by tears! Tears are nothing but water! They evaporate and then are only remembered." "You're right.....for once.." He looked back the stretch of road that he'd travelled and smiled. He knew...he knew what he had to do. I finished up my soup and stood, taking my bowl, and hers into the kitchen to wash them. "Thanks so much, it was delicious!" I washed them and laid them in the drying rack and stretched up my arms. "Well, its getting late, I'm gonna hit the sack. Goodnight, Ms. Pinako." I bowed to her and headed for the door. The room was spotless, you wouldn't even know Winry Rockbell, the famous Automail maker had lived here. She smiled and sat down on the floor beside Den and put her arms around him. "I'll always be a sister to him... wont I boy?" Den only whimpered in reply, laying his head against hers. "Ill always be here for him...whomever he decides." |

Edward was smiling by the time he got back to the Rockbells, Alphonse was sitting in the living room with a book when he poked his head in. "Well, you look decidedly better, don't you brother." "Of course, why wouldn't I be?" "I don't know maybe becuase you just ran out of here about a half an hour ago freaking out over something that Winry said?" "Ah, but you see, I have my answer now." "Oh? And that would be?" "That's for me to know, little brother, and you to find out." He twirled away with a grin and headed into the kitchen. "Shiba?" He called as he walked through the doorway. |

I was about to step outside through the kitchen door when I heard someone call my name. "Hm?" I stopped and looked back, my feet already out the door. I... didnt think it was him, so soon. "Oh, good evening Edward. Pinako saved you some soup, its on the stove." I was fairly calm, even knowing in my heart that i could lose him forever. |

"Shiba!" He saw her across the room, as if comign back from the back door. He didn't waste a moment but ran over and lifted her by her waist swinging her around the kitchen as much as he could. "You're not getting rid of me that easily you know." He said with a smirk. "I got chewed out by a certain Water Sprite's memory because I couldn't make up my mind, and now I'm sure of it, I'm not going to let you go. EVER. But only if you want me around..I may not be the best, but for you I'll certainly try." He set Shiba back on her feet and took a step backward, and waited, as if expecting an answer. |

I laughed as i was lifted into the air; something he had never done before, let alone alot of physical contact like this. I laughed, ;holding onto his shoulders and looking at him over my black rimmed glasses, my hair flowing with me as I spun. I only smiled at him, saying nothing as we spun, then I was put gently on my feet and I looked down at him, into his eyes. "I'm... glad." I said simply, walking up to him and wrapping my arms around him, over his shoulders. I pressed his head into my collarbone, his cheek against mine, my lips to his ear, I whispered softly, "I love you." I kept my grip on him, tightly. His hair seemed to dance in my face and I could only feel happy, and an overwhelming feeling of content and love. |

Edward smiled and wrapped Shiba in his arms, gripping her to him, as if she might somehow drop away from him if he let go. "I love you too." He murmured into her shoulder. "Oh so much." He breathed deeply, absorbing everything about the moment, Shiba's scent, the way her hair tickled his nose where a few stray locks fell inbetween her shoulder and his face, even how small she seemed compared to him, hid frame, however lithe, was still bulkier than hers, and right now, Shiba seemed so frail, and yet so rooted. |

After about a minute I let him go, sliding my hands from him, taking in every curve, and looked down at him, blushing. "I'm going to bed outside... You should go have a talk with Winry... she hasn't come down from her room since you left. I'll be outside if you wanna talk afterwards." I tapped my index finger on his nose and smiled at him warmly before turning and going out the door. Upstasirs, Winry sat on the floor drawing new leg designs for Dens automail leg. Complete with measurements and surrounded by pencils, pens, erasers and rulers, she worked on, trying to push the thought of Edward from her mind. |

Edward nodded. "I'd planned on it. After...after I face the music, I'll defintely be out there, but...don't wait up on me...I have a feeling that this may take a while." He sneezed from her finger and smiled, blushing, as he scratched the back of his head. Edward turned and slowly made his way up the stairs, taking his time on each step wondering how he was going to deal with Winry if she had another breakdown on him. He finally reached her door...and knocked, expecting full well to be hit as soon as it opened. |

I seemed to fly from the top step to the ground; i was floating on air as I made my way towards my campsite in the yard when I noticed a figure was sitting inn Al's chair. "Hello?" I said cautiously. "Hey." he waved, looking over at me. It was Roy. "Oh sir, I didn't expect to see you there." "By the look on your face, it seems Edward has made the right decision. I'm glad." he stood, putting his hat on again. I walked up to him. "Is that all you're here for?" He only nodded. I smiled and saluted him. "Thank you, sir." He smiled and looked down at me and nodded. "At ease. have a good night." He walked off calmly. Looking up form her drawing, she said softly. "Come in." She looked back down at her paper and continued to draw, Den resting his head on her thigh, both still curled up on the hard wood floor. |

He looked at her his eyes clear and resolved. "Winry....I can't love you...not like you want me to. We've grown up together, you were there when me and Al first screwed up...and you've helped us so much since then...but everytime I see you....you feel like home....like family, so I DO love you....but...I feel diffrently about you and Shiba...Shiba....I-I gave my heart to Shiba while in East City..so..I don't have it to give anymore." |

I noticed his leaning away from my hand and I took my hand from his shoulder and flopped it to my side. he had never shied from me before, when I would take a hold of his torso as he screamed in pain as we attached his arm...or when I would touch his back when I did repairs, or would brush and braid his hair for him. Tears filled my eyes. The words he had said, hurt more hearing them than anything I had ever felt before. "I..understand..." I said softly. My eyes fell to the floor, as did my tears. I stayed standing before him, as strongly as i could. |

"Winry.." He said softly, reaching out to touch her shoulder. He stopped just inched from her and just dropped his arm, that wasn't going to do either of them any good, and he knew that...but what was he supposed to do? Seeing her cry like that? "Winry....I" Why did he feel the need to apologize all of a sudden? He really didn't do anything wrong...but he still felt the nagging guilt surge through him. "Let her be Edward." came a voice from the door. Pinako smiled as he turned. "She'll be alright, you're guest is waiting outside for you, go talk to her, and leave Winry to me." She patted his shoulder, as much as she could reach as he nodded and ducked out. "Now, now, look at you, a big girl like yourself crying over something so silly." Edward closed the door behind him and smiled as he saw Shiba's tent...he hoped she hadn't fell asleep waiting on him. |

I looked to grannys face as she looked up at me and I fell to my knees and snuggled my face into her shoulder. "Granny... I love him.. I've always loved him... i was just always to scared to say something... afraid he'd reject me... like he did... Granny..." I sobbed. Outside, I was laying, sprawled out in my rather large tent, 8x8 feet, and nicely crafted, to have a skylight overhead and even a zipper; the area had a lot of metals in the ground to help with that. The tent was zippered, and even had a floor; no hard ground for this girl. I was snuggled in a ball on top of my coat. It was a nice, warm summer's night, no need to be cold. My eyes were closed, but i was not asleep. I was hoping things were going well with Edward and Winry... I was praying my visit wasn't a mistake, like I knew it would be. |

Pinako just shook her head, and smiled, patting her granddaughter's back as she cried. "I know, I know, but you just spoke up too late, if you want something Winry dear, then you've got to pounce on it, how do you think I got to be called the 'pantheress of Risembool'? I went after what I wanted, and didn't let anything stop me. There were times that, like you, I missed my chance, but look at me now, I'm alive, so if I survived rejections like you've had, I'm sure you will as well." Edward poked his head inside and smiled half-heartedly. "Hey there, you asleep yet?" |
"I guess you're right..." I sighed and pulled away from her and wiped my eyes with the back of my hands.
"its just so hard to even think of ed with someone... other than me... I had always hoped, and dreamed we'd be together..." I sat back on my knees and sighed, looking over at Den, who seemed so concerned. "I lifted my head and shook it. "Nope, I couldn't, knowing you and Winry could be fighting because of me.... please, come in, and take off your shoes first." mine were neatly outside my tent.[is he wearing his coat again, or just his tank and long black pants?] I saw up and rubbed my eyes and slid over a bit, for him to sit down. It was really made for just me, but I was more than happy to be smushed in a small tent with him. |
