Harry looked back at Hermione, taking in her words.
"I don't think we'll be allowed to be at his trial," he said. "It'll probably be full of reporters."
Harry lowered his voice and spoke just so Hermione could hear him. "But, I need to send an owl to Kingsley..." He'd mentioned vaguely to his friends what had happened in the shack, but had never told them that Snape had been in love with his mother, all those years. "I, er, well, I have some pretty important information," he said very quietly.
As he was speaking, he noticed Pansy Parkinson leaving the hall, looking pale and anxious. Snape had, Harry knew, been generally very fond of his students, and probably they all had returned the feeling. Glancing at the rest of the table, he could see many of the older students whispering and murmuring to each other.
Harry wondered—if his evidence saved Snape from the Dementor's Kiss, would he be allowed to return to Hogwarts? While he didn't want to see anyone, even Snape, unjustly punished, he wasn't sure he'd want Snape back as a teacher, either of Potions or Defence. And besides, they had a full staff already.
