The Tavern door opens and in walks an average sized girl with a small pack, looking as if it were to hold personal belongings. She gives the place a once over and half grins. This town is going to be all too easy. She walks to the bar and sets her pack down, she takes a seat.
"Yuu-kun you should rest whatever needs to be done can either wait or I shall do it for you" she said firmly she should get up, take care of things will Yuu-kun rested but she didn't want to get up, she wanted to watch over him help take care of him, he was obviously in a lot of pain even if he didn't show it. Sighing she sat up leaning down to kiss him lightly on the cheek "you rest you need it, besides your no good to anyone with half a bottle of vodka in your body"
As he placed a few smaller shards of glass in the tray he looked up as he was spoken to. "Yeah but i didnt think you going off your nut was one of them." He said with a smirk trying to lighten the mood. "Ill get a rag and clean this up, you lie down and rest, okay Champ?" Leaving the room he noticed a woman sitting at the bar, an attractive woman at that. The man nods and smiles as he passes behind the bar, dumping the glass into a bin where the empty bottles went. "I'll make you a drink when i get bck, alright sweetheart?" Desmond said with a wink as he grabbed a rag and some cleaner and headed back into the room. After cleaning the spill we walked back out to the bar and cleaned over the counter a bit at the woman. "So what can i get you?"
"It may be in me, yes, but it doesn't matter. My mind isn't under the influence of it, I was drinking it to make the pain subside." He grins mischievously at Kiya. "It would take a heck of a lot of influence to keep me down when I don't want to be." He slips and rolls away from her, standing up a bit unsteady at first. Turning to look at Kiya playfully, he turns his back to her and starts wagging his tail at her her, daring her to try.
((O.O.C.: Not worries Kya, we all have to learn somewhere. )) |
She gave a sultry smile and responded to the bartender, Wiskey. She brushed a peice of hair from her forehead. Is there much for work in this town? ...Or gambling? She lowered her voice at gambling, she didn't want anyone else to hear. They may notice she was the fugitive, Vexaline Maichetta, and didn't want to be on the move again before she'd had her drink, and possibly a good nights rest.
"Whiskey, eh? Bit of a strong drink for a woman. Impressive." Putting out two shot glasses he poured whiskey into both and lightly pushed one foward towards the womans hand. "There may be gambling in the city but im not sure, never taken a crack at it myself. Too much bad luck." The man chuckled and placed the bottle on the counter before lightly taking the second shot glass he had filled. "As for work, there's always here, Yuuichi is still looking for some waitresses i believe."
She picked up the glass and tipped it back. You're not so good at gambling huh? Wanna play me at Black Jack? I'm not very good either... She smiled a conniving smile, knowing very well she was good at Black Jack. She picked up her bag and began to dig for her cards. She thought for a moment about being a waitress, but wasn't sure if she'd be better off working for tips, or conning her way through this town like the last.
The sudden change from somber to happy was a surprising yet welcome change giggling softly she jumped off the bed reaching for the tail that wagged before her face, just enticing her to grab it and play with it. Her tail wagged itself her ears perked forward intent on capturing that tail. Her eyes followed the wagging tail and she shifted into fox form without even noticing, bunching her legs up under her she took a flying leap lunging at the tantalizing tail. Only to swipe at it and land on the ground looking up at the tail a small bark escaping. The shift had been so quick so natural she hadn't even noticed the change in size or form
The man chuckled at her suggestion and knocked back the shot, hitting the glass down with a soft thud. "Only if its for kicks, i have too little money to waste it on bets and wagers." He said with a smile. Seeing her smile he could tell that she was lying about being "not very good" at blackjack. He had met this kind before, Scam Artists.
Forget it, I'm tired anyway. She was annoyed by the bartender's rejection. She wasn't one to be rejected by a man. She sulked. I might as well get some sleep, I need to find work in the morning. Do you have any available rooms here? Her smile returned, Or should I stay at your place tonight? She loved when men fell for this one, she'd be making off with any valuables he owned, and he wouldn't even know her name.

Jaden took his sweet time on his walk. Once he’d stepped outside, he’d easily shapeshifted into his cat form and took off at a brisk walk. He didn’t have any particular destination in mind…or so he thought. For a long while all he did was walk letting his more curious side take over as he roamed about the outside of the tavern. He didn’t know how long he was outside distracting himself but eventually he tired. Yawning softly Jaden padded back towards the front door of the tavern intending to go inside and do his job for once before his nose picked up a familiar scent. Virsat was back! Without thinking a low purr escaped him before he quickly smothered it, or rather tried to. Virsat was back; maybe now that he’d fed Jaden could curl up in his lap and get another thorough petting. That didn’t sound too bad… and it was completely innocent! He wasn’t a dirty kitty…well not too dirty anyway. Besides those earlier thoughts hadn’t been his fault! Virsat had done it, it might be hard to believe but the sweet timid, human fearing vampire had been the one to cause up that small amount of trouble, not Jaden. For once he was completely innocent….then again that might be stretching the truth a bit….
Shaking his head slightly Jaden dispersed any further thoughts of the vampire. Why was he even bothering? He wasn’t against a fling here and there but he doubted Virsat would be up for that despite what his actions had implied earlier. And even then, the vampire was just too…heck, Jaden didn’t know what Virsat was. All he knew was that the vampire definitely wasn’t his type, what ever type it was that he preferred he was almost positive Virsat didn’t fall into that category. With that thought in mind, Jaden back away from the door and decided that maybe for now he’d just take a nap in a nearby tree. Padding around the tavern, he found a tree that met all the requirements for a good napping spot and easily climbed up the tree his tail twitching leisurely from side to side as he walked out on a branch that was sturdy enough to hold his slight weight. That wasn’t the only good thing about the branch though, it was also conveniently placed near a window. Whose? Jaden had no idea and he really didn’t care. Although…he was kind of curious. It was a cat’s curiosity, not a human’s. Cat’s wanted to know what but not why, they simply reveled in what they found. With humans it was much more complicated. For now, Jaden allowed himself to enjoy his cat’s side simple curiosity and crept closer to the window to peek inside. He immediately regretted his decision. Even though he’d already told h imself that nothing would come from that brief spark between him and Virsat he couldn’t quite believe what he was seeing. Virsat in the arms of someone else. He wasn’t jealous….he was just…bothered by it. Yea that’s it. He was bothered by the fact that the other guy seemed to be so fascinated with Virsat where as Virsat didn’t seem interested in him in the same fashion…and ok maybe he was a little jealous. But it had nothing to with how the male was touching Virsat, it had everything to do with the connection between the two. How the heck had that stranger managed to build a connection so solid, so tangible in so short a time? Jaden had respected Virsat’s need for space and yet this guy was completely ignoring it…a low dangerous yowl escaped as he dug his sharp claws into the thin bark of the tree as he continued to watch in silent anger his eyes narrowed as his tail lashed from side to side. It wasn’t long before Virsat was in the bed-thankfully alone- and sound asleep. Jaden hesitated slightly still perched on his branch. Maybe he could sneak into the room and watch over Virsat. Not in a creepy stalker fashion but in a protective way. Something about this guy (E.J) was off. He didn’t smell right and that scent was really bugging him. Meowing softly he left his perch on the branch and took a more precarious one on the windows ledge. Thankfully the window was open just enough for him to slip throw. Mewing pitifully, he brushed his slender furry form against Virsat’s sleeping body until he reached to top of the bed and curled up on the pillow glancing in the handsy strangers way. ’I don’t trust you…Virsat might but I don’t.’ he thought with a lazy yawn as he nuzzled Virsat sweetly a low purr rumbling up from him. Sofia let out a soft sigh of relief as the drama in front of the door finally subsided and the tension dissipated. True she hadn’t accomplished much but she’d taken a step in getting over her fear. That was good. She couldn’t help it that the timid vampire had turned down her offer. She couldn’t blame him for being afraid of humans. She’d met more than her fair share of despicable humans lately so she couldn’t argue with his reasoning. She just wished..she wished she could show him that all humans weren’t that bad. She wasn’t like them. She wouldn’t harm or force someone to do something they detested and she wouldn’t torture anyone. Even if her life depended on it. Shaking her head she lifted a small hand to brush her thick red hair out of her face as she walked away from the door and sat on an open bar stool. She was parched and starving to say the least. But she didn’t have any money, she’d yet to even speak to the owner about getting a job or somehow paying for her time here. She hadn’t seen him since she’d first arrived though…Her brow had wrinkled in thought but she jerked out of her thoughts at the mention of a job. Looking up, she swallowed nervously seeing the bartender. Was it just her…or did he seem impossible tall? Then again everyone was tall compared to her…she was blowing this out of proportion. She was just asking him about a job. She hesitated a moment longer nervously biting her lower lip before she spoke up. ”E-excuse me for interrupting…but did I hear you correctly sir? You mentioned something about waitressing. I’m in desperate need of a job…” she murmured softly lifting her bright green eyes up to meet his so she wouldn’t look half as nervous as she appeared. |
Sensing Kiya jump to get his tail, Yuuichi pulls it up at the last moment, forcing her to miss. "Going to have to try harder than that, love." He grins as he kneels down to stroke her ears for a moment. "I think I'm going to head back out to the bar. Feel free to join me if you would like." He winks at her as he heads to the door, wagging his tail tantalizingly at her again. "You never know, I'm still unsure what your prize should be if you catch it. Not that I expect to have to think of one anyway." He slips out the door, shifting into fox form as he runs out into the common area, hopping up on the table where Desmond was. "You know, this should be the point where I get mad at you for drinking while working. But I can't, that would make me a hypocrite. Just watch this one, ok? When I stepped in her, something about her eyes and her demeanor set me off. Put her in one of the bare rooms if you wish her to have a room, ok?" He turns to look at the woman and lowers his head in a mock bow.
That tail was calling to her teasing her, she wanted to catch it if nothing more then to play with it growling playfully at him she rubbed against his hand missing the contact when he left going back to the bar. "Don't tease me Yuu-kun that's so mean I wanna play with it" she thought chasing after him down the hall and into the common area. She stopped once she reached the end of the hall that lead out into the room, her eyes locked on the woman sitting there, human she could smell it, two of them, the other one the red head sitting there was human as well. So many humans she thought taking a step backwards. Don't be stupid Kiya she chided herself, her eyes jumping back to Yuu-kun sitting on the counter in fox form. "Well how about I get erm uh my own room?" truth was she only wanted to catch his tail to play with it, make Yuu-kun laugh. Walking into the room skirting around the human she hopped up onto the far end of the bar stalking the white tail
Desmond chuckled at Yuuichi as he gave him a look for seeing him drink. "Oh come on man, live a little, one drink isnt going to make me all woozy. If you remember my tolerance is pretty high." Winking at his boss he turned back to the woman. "I can get you a room, i prefer not to take new aquaintences to bed, usually things are missing when i wake up". As he looks at the available room keys he remembers the night he took in a girl from a bar saying she had no where to go, when he woke up some of his clothes and food were gone, as well as all his booze. He sighed at the thought and picked out a key that was placed speacially on the side for "shady" characters and turned, placing it on the counter infront of her.
The mans eyes look up to see another girl, seems they were just flocking to the Tavern now that he was here. Montioning his head over to the male kitsune he smiled. "This is the bossman, so you need to take it up with him." |
Yuuichi cringes a bit at Desmond motions towards him to point out the owner to Sofia. "Thanks Desmond....you just blew my damned cover! That woman was positive that this form was just a pet of the taverns.....She was afraid of me in my human form, not sure why though, but I have suspicions." He turns his head to look at Sofia and nods at her, waiting for the inevitable question. After a moment he listens to Kiya and rolls his eyes. "I take it, my bed is not worthy of you then? Oh and, if your really going to try and stalk me like that, drop your butt a little more...well better yet, keep it up, it makes for a good distraction."
It was odd to see the little fox make such a human like motion as to stick it's tongue out at the white fox, following his instructions Kiya dropped her butt down a bit mentally chiding herself and oddly the chiding sounded a lot like the voice of her former mentor and father like figure Harken you know better then that young lady, didn't I teach you better?... Sorry Harken she thought as an image of his disapproving face flitted through her mind. He was onto her! How could she get his tail if he kept tabs on her, he would just move it out of the way. Mind working she hopped off the counter, slinking past the people and hid under a stool. Need the element of surprise
"I do like your bed Yuu-kun it's very comfy, I just figured you would want some more room and wouldn't care for sharing it with me" she pointed out creeping out from this bar stool under the one next to it, which held one of the humans. The one with the red hair that seemed awfully nervous. Biding her time she was waiting for him to put his guard down "I will get that tail Yuu-kun mark my words" she teased |
Desmond sighed as the mental voice scolded him. Sorry Yuuichi..i didnt know. the man thought to himself and turned around to wash some of the dirty glasses that had been used the night before. Leave it to him to slowly dig himself a hole to get his boss to hate him.
Sofia’s eyes widened prettily her lips forming a soft ‘o’ of surprise as the bar tender motioned towards the fox that had seemed so friendly to her the night of her arrival. She couldn’t believe it..T-that was the boss? But it couldn’t because she’d seen the boss and he hadn’t looked anything like the cute and cuddly looking little fox. That little fox had made her feel safe and comfortable. But the person she’d seen before she’d started cooing and petting the fox had done the absolute opposite. He’d scared her as much as every other male she’d met so far.
On the one hand she felt disbelief but on the hand she felt…annoyed. He’d tricked her! As scared as she’d been-as scared as she was he’d tricked her! And she’d trusted him! She’d foolishly followed him upstairs into a room where he could have very well shifted back into his natural shape and..and..She didn’t want to think about it. The moment she’d saw the cute fox from her first night she’d started to reach out and pet him but now that she knew she wasn’t even going to consider petting him. She stiffened uncomfortably in her seat and hurriedly pulled her hand away from his soft inviting fur. Instead she gave him a cool look and did her best to lock away her budding fear and nervousness. She opened her mouth to repeat her question about a job before promptly changing her mind. Despite her efforts to lock away her fear she looked away the deceptively cute fox and looked at bar tender giving him a timid smile as she spoke. ”Can I have a drink? Please? I don’t mind what it is so long as its strong.” Bad idea. She wasn’t what you’d call a heavy drinker, honestly she rarely drank but on the odd chance she did..well listeners beware. She was usually a girl that kept to herself but once she’d had a drink or two-two was her limit- then she had no qualms about speaking up. |
((OOC: I'm about to use this getting a room thing as my out for the night, so ahead of time - Goodnight all, it's been super fun ;)))
Vex's smile faded again, better luck next time. I'll take a room here then. She picked up her pack and waited to be shown the way. She looked over at Yuuichi. A little small and hairy to be a boss don't you think? |
He glances at Sofia, his eyes apologetic, getting the feeling deep down she feels betrayed by him. "Please forgive me miss, it was never my intention to trick you in such a manner. I just had a feeling that you were afraid of me in my human form.....so I shifted into my natural form to put you at ease. I promise there was no ill will intended, I just merely wished for you to feel safe and be able to rest." Hearing Vex's comment about him being 'small and hairy' Yuuichi turns and snarls at her, his feeling of her not being trustworthy still holding. He turns to look at Desmond again, a little fire in his eyes. "Smallest and barest room we have for her, nothing nicer, got it?" He puts force behind his voice, trying to get the point across to Desmond that he will not budge on this matter.
Getting a strange idea Kiya is trying to sneak up on him as he hears her paws hit the floor, Yuuichi fakes like he is yawning and stretching. He keeps his muscles ready to hop quickly out of the way as he knows she will be trying again soon. "Too be honest, you sleeping in the bed with me helps me somewhat. Keeps the bad memories away....but the major plus side. You are a fellow kit, and your not terrified of me. Oh, and good luck love, you will need it." He smiles inwardly as he gets a cruel idea. He conjures up an image of himself sitting in the same place on the bar, and walks off himself, knowing that Kiya, being unused to illusions, will attack the fake and think she won. |
Pawing lightly at the leg of the human girl Sofia Kiya peeked out at Yuu-kun good he hadn't moved yet, but she didn't take any chances ducking back under the stool she waited. Waited for just the right moment you just wait Yuu-kun I will get you she thought smugly confident in herself. Peeking out once more she confirmed what she thought he hadn't moved yet unaware that she was ready for him "Why would I be afraid of you Yuu-kun you have been nothing but nice to me since I've come here. Even giving me lessons on illusions which I never even knew we could do. Or all the different types of Kitsun which again I had no idea about you've been very kind to me" she thought to him creeping out from under the stool hopping up she landed lightly on the human woman's lap her eyes fixed on the white fox. "I will get you Yuu-kun" she teased sending a mental image of her sticking her tongue out at him childishly. With a quick jump she landed on the tail of the white fox pinning it down with her paws, she let out a little bark feeling victorious "I got it!"
Yuuichi allows the illusion to fade and watches her as the one she thought she caught, vanishes from beneath her, Yuuichi himself standing on the other side of the table. "Going to have to try harder than that Kiya. I have a few years and a lot of time hiding and sneaking around on you." He creates an image of himself in her mind winking at her as he starts to laugh a bit. "Let us see how you like this one." He closes his eyes and starts to concentrate, causing himself to vanish again, and several illusions of himself to start appearing around the bar. "If you can find the real me within three tries, I will allow you to do whatever you so wish to me." He forces himself to reappear elsewhere in the bar, enjoying his game with her.
Suddenly Yuu-kun disappeared.. an illusion? So that was his game, now it was on! "What happens if I lose Yuu-kun?" she asked looking around all the Yuuichi's that were appearing everywhere this was going to become difficult. "I know what I get if I win, but what happens if I lose?" she asked again using all her senses to try and find the right Yuu-kun. The illusions didn't smell like anything, because they weren't real, but Yuu-kuns scent was everywhere, after all he did own the place. Lifting her nose she took a whiff drawn towards one on the end. Padding over to him she eyed him, he certainly looked real enough well I have three tried pouncing on the illusion she wasn't particularly surprised when it disappeared on her. Jumping up she was more careful this time sitting and watching as all the real looking Yuu-kun's moved about confusing the poor little fox. Cocking her head she watched one in particular that she thought could possibly be him. Running up to the fox sitting on one of the tables she jumped at him surprised as once again she choose wrong. One more try she thought sitting down on the table weary of the rest of the illusions gotta find the right one
"You will work for me, or I can put a collar and leash on you, your choice. Or maybe I might choose both, not sure yet. And careful love, only one more try, harder than you expected, isn't it?" He smiles happily, knowing she is more than likely thoroughly confused by the illusions, but at the same time kind of wanting her to find him, after all if she doesn't, what does that say about him as a teacher? "Ok little one, I will give you a little information to help you. Close your eyes for a few moments, and steady your breathing, try not to concentrate too hard, but at least make sure you are completely calm. When you open your eyes back up, look for something that might be out of place. That is how you go about facing illusions. They only affect you when your eyes are open, love."
"Oh a leash? What do I need a leash for?" she asked following his instructions and closing her eyes, it was hard to calm down but by taking some deep even breaths she was able to calm herself down. Opening her eyes she looked around feeling almost in a different state of mind, the technique really did help, the illusions now had an odd cast to them. She couldn't say exactly what but there was something different about the fake Yuu-kuns even though they looked exactly like the real one hopping down from the table she moved around the illusions finally spotting the real Yuu-kun mixed in with the rest. A small human like smile touched the little foxes lips looking extremely odd, bounding forward she pounced on the real Yuu-kun feeling smug "GOT YA" she nearly crowed proud of herself
