Misfits

Heikio City seems like the perfect place to live. Beautiful weather, nice people, tons of things to do, most would think it impossible to be lonely right? Meet the Misfits, a goup of teems who inhabit Heikio City and see it in a different light. Why is it different to them? Well perhaps it is best to start from the beginning. Hundred of years ago, Heikio was a temple city. Many priests, priestess, and clerics were raised here. It was a large area for supernatural and spiritual energy and beings. Long after the city passed, and the new Heikio City was built, the land never lost its' properties. Mysterious things continue to happen around the city. Most can not be explained, giving Heikio its' nickname of the city of magic.

While time passed, one thing did not. Heikio Shrine is the oldest building left within the city. It has been training people to defend Heikio City since it was built, for not all the forces in the city are good. This is where the Misfits come in. They are the students of the shrine, currently being trained to protect the city. They can not tell others about their world, but without them, their world would be shattered. Things however, are getting more complicated. The energy circulating around Heikio is growing, more and more things are beginning to happen within it. People are beginning to be afraid and ask questions. The Misfits must save the city, before all is lost for ever.

Ikari paused in front of the temple. He sighs, pondering the pros and cons of going in right now. He was on his way to school, but there was something he wanted to talk to the sensei about first before he did. His eyes moved around the street, it was oddly quiet for a wednesday morning. His hand moves up, running through his hair. No one was there, no people, no animals, not even a single soul....and they were usually everywhere. It was odd, deffinetly unlike Heikio. He shakes his head, it was probrably nothing, and he would be interrupting sensei if he went in right now. He guessed he was probrably busy with his morning duties as the temple keeper, so he didn't want to bother him. It couldn't hurt to leave a note saying he needed to talk to him during practice after school right?

He slips out a paper, careful to write neatly, even though he was writing on his hand for support. He stepped into the confinds of the temple walls, and immediately felt the rush of energy he usually did when he crossed the threshold. None of the others usually felt it, or at least not as strongly as he did. He was more in tune with the spiritual and sacred aspects of the world, and the temple was built on holy land. Once inside, he noticed that not even the spirits who usually roamed the temple were out at the moment. That was strange to him, they were usually always out. The temple was a safe and good place, or at least that was what Ikari was brought up to believe.

He shakes his head, he was getting distracted. He made his way to the door, slipping off his shoes, in respect. He walked along the long wooden corridor towards the sensei's office. The temple was baised on old japanese architect. It was the oldest building in the city, and to this day was always sed to be in excellent condition for its' age. He smiles, this place was like a second home to him. The spiritual energy it gave off was comforting to him, helped him relax. He often spent the free time during training in the meditation garden deeper in the temple. The door to the office was closed as usual, and he slowly slid it open glancing in to make sure the sensei wasn't inside.

When he was sure the older male was not there, he stepped within. Immediately, he felt a pair of eyes on him, and turned to see an odd spirit gazing at him from the far corner. He had never seen it before, and it did not look like the others he had encountered. This one was a large black mass, estimating, he guessed about seven or eight feet tall. It haunched over slightly, watching him. It's face was made up of a white mask, with black holes where the eyes should be, and nothing else. No mouth, and no nose could be seen. It was kind of creepy, and if he couldn't feel it's energy to know it was a spirit, he might have guessed it was a statue at first. His body felt suddenly cold, and he found himself unable to move. There was something not right about this one.

Nekozawa whistled tunelessly as he finished washing his dishes having just finished breakfast. He had woken up a few hours before feeling a chill in his room, but since fall was approaching, he had simply thought it to be the changing of the weather. Leaving the dishes to dry, he left to return to his room, picking up a heavier blanket from the laundry room on the way. When he saw his door open, his eyes narrowed in suspicion, setting the blanket down quietly. One of his hands began to glow with a sickly green light, his veins popping out as black lines. Creeping to the edge of the door, he waited, taking a deep breath before quickly moving through, letting out a shout as he held his hand high, ready to strike, before skidding to a halt when he saw it was just Ikari. Blinking in surprise he said, "Oh... hello Ikari," giving his hand a shake, returning it to a normal state, he gave the young man a smile, "What are you doing here this morning, don't you have school to get to?"

Lylth sat quietly in her room, her back straight and eyes closed, meditating. With a deep breath, she stood with one simple, balanced motion of her legs from her pretzel-shaped seat on the floor. She reached up into the air and took in a deep breath, letting all of yesterday's stress pass through her and leave her mind at peace, ready for the day with a positive outlook. Lylth cleaned up her room (what tiny, almost unnoticeable messes she had made in various locations) and prepared herself for her morning routine. She put on a pair of training shorts and socks. Put on her chest wrap and hand wraps, and finally a lightweight tank top to exercise in. She sat down on her bed and sighed, pulling out a drawer of her nightstand and extracting a hair band, then tied her jet black hair up in a tight pony tail, with her thick straight bangs falling just short of her eyelashes.

After begrudgingly brushing her teeth (Lylth loved to be clean but hated the work that being hygienic required) and headed to the kitchen for a quick morning snack before training. Her stomach growled. I'm starving. I really hope I still have fruit left over. She smiled to herself, finding a nice ripe apple in the corner of the kitchen, stashed away like it was her special treat. "Om" her mouth sounded as she took a large bite of the apple. Satisfied with her find, she left the kitchen to the yard outside, ready for another morning of hard work mastering her energy weapons.

Ikari pauses, looking at the sensei who had just entered the room. His heart skipped a beat as he did, caught ioff guard. "Sensei...I was just...leaving a note" he holds up the paper. "I didn't want to disturb you, then I saw-" when he turned, his heart seemed to jump into his throat. The ghost was now right next to him, staring at him. Those hollow eyes creeped him out, bearing it seemed, into his very soul. It didn't move or speak, it just stared at him. He was a bit unsure if he should look away or not, he didn't quite trust it behind him. The spirit was new to him, he wondered if it was in the old books from the library. He thought about looking it up, he was curious, but it seemed a bit unappropriate to ask the sensei at this time. Besides, he was right, Ikari had to be in school soon enough, and he had never been late before. He sighs slightly, his mind containing so many thoughts now.

Nekozawa's smile turned questioning as he looked in the direction Ikari seemed so focused on before the smile faded. He moved to stand beside Ikari, placing a reassuring hand on the boy's shoulder as he asked, "Tell me Ikari, in detail... what do you see?"

In an alley in the dirtiest, most crime-ridden section of the city, the sounds of fighting, flesh on flesh, grunts of pain, and feet scuffing the pavement echoed throughout. A dozen members of the biker gang known as the Red Ronin were all gathered around a person, doing their best to beat their enemy into the ground, only for the members to be driven back. The angry yell of a girl resounded loudly in the alley as the entire group stumbled back, some of the members going flying. Standing in the center of the alley was a bruised and bloodied Dianna Dee, dressed in a pair of jeans, a T-shirt, and a black, biker jacket. She smirked as she looked at the Red Ronins as they picked themselves up, spitting out some blood as she said, "You guys are pathetic, you know that? I called you punks out hoping for a challenge!" The Ronin members looked at each other before, as a group... they turned and ran away, not wanting to get beaten up by the freakish little girl anymore. Dianna blinked in confusion before letting out an irritated breath, her hands going to her hips as she said, "Well, isn't that f*&#ing disappointing?"

Ikari took a slight breath. "It's a spirit...but not one that I have seen before...It's huge, maybe bout eight feet....black with a white mask like face." He looks at his teacher for a moment. "I think it's giving off an energy..that's why the air here is so cold." His skin felt the air, goosebumps running down his hands. He takes a deep breath, looking back at the spirit. It seemed to just be watching, making no move to take action as it did. It was like a giant doll, the eyes hollow and watching but never moving.

Lylth finished the rest of her apple and threw its core over to a nearby tree that she knew some neighborhood animals frequented. She was sure one would enjoy some free lunch on her behalf. She stretched her body, making sure she was limber and ready to work out, then steadied herself on both feet and closed her eyes. The earth was busy around her, but her focus remained intense and singular, guiding all of her chi to her hands. As they throbbed and her heart rate increased, a low glow eminated from her hands which began to tremble slightly; something was forming. Something that at first looked like small balls of light or energy, but as her mind stayed on track and her hands clenched into a fist, a staff began to form, and a large one at that. The staff --now turning visibly into a polearm-- grew a blade with warped metal that wrapped around itself in a complicated pattern, like metal meeting lace, and formed an exaggeratedly long, narrow tip at the end. Several spikes jutted out from the decorative area before the blade, adding another level of intricacy. The weapon itself was black, with a faint purple glow hovering in the air surrounding it. Almost exhausted, Lylth finally opened her eyes to take a look at her new weapon, straight from her imagination. A look of pure joy fell upon her face.

"I did it! I did it again!" She bounced around in excitement, "I had to draw it a hundred times and my hands feel like they're going to fall off, but I did it!" Still overwhelmed with happiness, she brought her hand to the blade and sliced. I bet that's pretty sharp. She acknowledged, her hand completely unphased by the cut. After all, her own weapons can't hurt her. I wonder what sensei will think. I'll go show him before I start my workout today.

A slight frown came over Nekozawa's face before he put on a reassuring smile, pulling Ikari away, saying, "Don't worry about it, Ikari, it isn't anything hostile. However, I want you to get to school and tell the others to come right here after school, we're starting the next phase of your training. Oh, also, since I'm here, would you like to just tell me what's on your note?"

He paused for a moment, noticing the change in the look on his teacher's face. He nodded, when asked to tell the others to come straight here. He clenches the note lightly in his hand, and takes a breath. "It is probrably nothing, but things are to quiet...I've noticed a significant drop in spirits around town, even in the temple...there is usually spirits roaming around, and suddenly their gone...then this thing shows up." Ikari looked back at the other ghost, but once again it had moved. He looked out the door, now it was down the hall but moving. Slowly it inched its' way down the hall moving farther on.

Lylth strolled happily back into the temple, excited about her weapon. Most of the time, she can only summon simple weapons: daggers, swords of various kinds, and basic blunt weapons, but today was the second day she summoned her dream weapon. She hadn't created a name for it yet, her time was too often taken up with drawing it to memorize how she could make it form; without studying the weapons she wants to create, she has nearly no luck making it. Thus her hours of sitting in the dark at night, carefully drawing out each delicate design and figuring out what it should look like as a final product, how it would grow in her hands and what part to start summoning first. Giving her weapons names was a nice way of remembering what it looks like, but with this special project, her dream weapon, she had no time to think of an amazing title for it to claim.

Maybe something like "Demon Hunter" and pretend I'm on an episode of Sailor Moon; summoning it and shouting "Demon Hunter -- Blade -- Initiate!" Lylth giggled to herself at the absurdity. Perhaps I could actually give it a real name. Something creative, after all I've spent so much time on this thing. She was halfway to the sensei's room when she spotted Ikari at the end of the hallway, seemingly flustered about something. She tilted her head to the side and walked up to the two of them.

"Good morning Sensei!" She greeted him and nodded out of respect. "Hey Ikari, you okay?" Though they weren't really on a best friend basis, Lylth liked Ikari. From what she'd experienced being here at the temple, he was a good person and she admired that quality in anyone. Not that she expected to be best friends with anyone at the temple, they were all sort of outcasts, but she enjoyed that everyone was different. "Don't you have to get to school?" Lylth was suddenly thankful she had already graduated. Homework and nightmarish classmates... She shuddered.

Io was perched quite contentedly atop the temple. Just above the entrance the students usually used. The demon-eater sat silently, just watching the sky, his gaze had been taken from the lovely sky to Ikari when the young man approached the temple and entered. Io's head tilted to the side slightly and he couldn't help but wonder what had caused the young man to stop in so early. Still it wasn't really any of his business. Well, that wasn't completely true but he was sure if they had need of him, he would have been called.

And so Io returned to watching the sky for a peaceful few moments longer before Lylth came strolling along. She seemed rather happy, and though Io didn't really smile he did find it refreshing when the children were happy. The human looking goblin stood and stretched. Recently though, he had felt a decrease in the spiritual pressure, or activity around the temple and the city itself. Io stepped off the roof of the building and dropped to the ground. Landing easily on both feet, as usual Io wore a white somewhat loose top that had straps up the front and decorative burgundy trim around the edges of the sleeves and along the collar, front and bottom edge of it. The pants he wore were loose white ones, no shoes on his feet.

Io entered the temple, nodding in acknowledgement of Ikari and Lylth as he moved past them to stand next to Nekozawa.

Ikari looked at the other two as they entered the room. He was a bit unsure about now having an audience. He gives a light incline of his head to the sensei, nodding to the female. "Yes, I should be going." He turned away, walking out of the room. He sighs lightly, taking a slight breath as he did. He took out his phone, texting the other's to meet here right after school. He made a stop at the library first, getting a book to do some research before taking off to head to school. He sighed lightly, this was going to be a long day. He made his way to the school, hurrying up the steps.

Mitsukai paused in front of the hall mirror. This human form was interesting to him. He had grown accustomed to its' looks, and it was now a part of him. Humans and demons were so different in some ways, and alike in others. He takes a breath, looking towards the room where his 'parents' were in still asleep. He sighs, turning away to grab his bag. Outside it was a nice day, but instantly, he could feel the shift in energy. Or to be honest, lack there of. Usually, he could sense the energies around him flowing from everything seen, or not seen. His stomach growled lightly, he needed a snack before school. He stepped into the ally near his home and allowed his body to shift into its' true form. It felt so good to be him again.

He easily hopped up onto the roof of the building next door. The view was great from up here, just like in his room. He could see much of the town from here. The breeze ruffling through his hair was a nice change from the standing enviornment down below. He moved along the roof to the next one, using his speed to move before he was seen below. He noticed a small spike in dark energy near the temple where his people were partially bound to by word. He paused to see a small goblin like demon peeking through the bars in the huge iron fence. He dared not touch them, probrably knowing they were protected by the magic of the temple.

It was dangerous hunting right outside the temple's door. HE prefered to keep himself hidden, and far away from this place for now, until things were settled. Howver, this was just to tempting to pass up. He hopped down from where he stood, careful not to make a sound as he moved behind the little demon. His tongue gently slid across his lower lip. He had not fed in a few days. His people were often compared to vampires, for they did not feed on the meat of their prey like other demons did, they fed off of their life force, or energy. The more they took, the weaker the prey became, until they died. He himself often did not kill his prey, but this time might be an exception. A little demon sniffing around the temple was not a good thing.

A teenage girl walked through the street, bobbing her head to the cheerful song she listened to on her iPod. Her eyes on the sidewalk ahead of her as she made her way towards her school. The girl waved to the store owners she knew as she walked by their store fronts. She lived in this neighborhood as long as she could remember and had pleasant memories of her beloved city. "Morning, Miya." The grocer said as she walked by his store. He tossed an apple to her to eat on her way to school. "Thank you, Mr. Koita." Miya yelled as she picked up her pace so she would be late to school.

As she walked into the school building, the brunette smiled at some of her friends from the literature club. They waved at her and went on walking towards their homeroom as she walked up the stairs of the school. Her blue eyes scanned over the hallway as she moved towards the stairs to the second floor where her class was located. Miya walked through the bustling hallway to her classroom and walked into the room quietly. Some the other students turned to look at her as she entered.

Larissa, called Issa by her friends, hummed contentedly as she brushed her long hair back into some semblance of neatness.
She was in a super good mood today, not for any particular reason she just felt today was going to be special.
Placing the brush back on the desk she checked her reflection in a decorative hand mirror.
Yeah, good enough she thought with a small smile and placed it next to the hairbrush.
A quick look round her room to check nothing was out of place (spotlessly clean with bare walls and only one photo frame next to the newly made bed) Issa flicked a stray strand of hair over her shoulder, turned with a flourish and left the room.
Today she wanted to practice and for that she needed to be around people.
With a mischievous twinkle in her bright eyes she went in search of the other students. After all not all of them were in school.

Lylth raised her eyebrows, confused, as Ikari breezed past her and Io. I wonder what's on his mind, she though passively, usually he isn't this quiet. Hm. After a small sigh of concern, she directed her attention to Io for a moment, nodding at him as well. Io was a curious creature. Since the time she first came here, he was present, ever watching, and ever guarding the shrine. He almost never spoke, which was interesting to her, and she could honestly say Io was her favorite "person" at the temple. Not because of the mystery surrounding him (though as a very curious type of human, she found it fascinating), but because he was so proud and honorable --not to mention, incredibly strong against demons (or so she had heard from rumors)--, it seemed. She held loyalty and honesty above all else in this world, and he appeared to be a dedicated expert of those qualities. But one thought always crossed her mind about his mystery; did he really want to protect us? Or did he want to live his own life? After all, isn't he only here by contract? The constant rumors surrounding Io were great in quantity, but had nothing for factual evidence.

Lylth wondered what it was like being able to identify spirits and demons; she knew nothing of detecting supernatural creatures unless they were in solid form before her, and had always failed when trying to "see" them. Even after training with other people in the Heikio Shrine, she only made a fool of herself, with no natural inclination to spirits whatsoever; all she knew was that they existed, and she could make weapons that could stop them. That was enough for her. Speaking of weapons -- "Oh! Sensei, the reason I came! Sorry to bother you," she bowed in apology, "but I thought I'd come show you this!" She extended her arm to the sensei and smiled. "It almost killed me, but I made it again. And this time I didn't collapse!" A laugh came from her; the last time she summoned her newly beloved polearm, she had passed out from exhaustion and laid unconscious on the ground for several minutes before reawakening, though this was only told to her, she barely remembers successfully making it last time. Now, she had only felt short of breath and her hands felt like they were suffering from third degree burns; luckily she was very used to pain.

Summoning her more intricate weapons took all of her concentration and energy. After only making it appear once before, this was a huge step in the best direction.

Nekozawa gave Ikari a reassuring pat on the shoulder as he left and smiled at Lylth, saying, "Very good Lylth, excellent work! You've really progressed," he thought to himself, 'It may be needed.' He smiled, saying, "After the others are done at school, we'll be advancing everyone's training. We're going to begin sparring sessions between the students, as opposed to simple weapon drills. I want you and Dianna to assist me in this, since the two of you are the most experienced when it comes to fighting, you with your training and Dianna with her... extensive experience."

Dianna emerged from the public bathroom, her face cleaned up from the fight and changed into her school clothes (profile pic). As she took a few steps, she heard the sound of heavy breathing behind her, breathing that propelled some truly wretched breath. She let out a disgusted sigh, saying, "Okay mouth-breather... if you're still there when I turn around on three, I'm going to kick your @$$ into next Tuesday... 1... 2... 3... Okay," she dropped her backpack, saying, "You asked for it." She turned, fists raised... only for a look of shock and fear to come over her face as her gaze traveled up... and up... and up, to look the 'mouth-breather' in the face. "Oh... poo."

Io stiffened slightly. He hadn't really moved, but the air around him seemed to become very tense. The goblin glanced at Nekozawa for nearly half a moment before he was already rushing out of the room and then out of the temple itself. Something was close. He could feel it, it was too close and Io wasn't sure he liked what he felt. Once he was outside of the building he could feel the spiritual pressure easier, he had been right in assuming what he had felt was not inside. Now he followed that sense like a dog would a scent.

Demon, and it was too close to the shrine for Io's comfort. Io stepped into view of the small goblin like demon that was peeking through the bars of the fence. Reddish brown eyes of his were studying it intently as he tried to discern how big of a threat it would be. Still the spiritual pressure he felt most was not coming from that little creature, what Io had sensed the most was the demon that was stalking the smaller one. He didn't move, only stood and watched to see what might happen.

Lylth nodded, understanding the sensei's instruction. "I'd be delighted." She stated, but cringed a bit. Dianna was a nice girl and all that, she didn't mind her, but her anger problem was through the roof; luckily Lylth was very good at not getting on people's bad sides. Perhaps with age, she pondered, Dianna will grow to use her powers more productively than destructively. What a fine sparing partner she will make, then.

Lylth flinched and stared worriedly as Io bounded out of the hallway and disappeared around the corner. Curious as always, she looked to her sensei and got a frustrated look on her face. One that resembled a puppy that knew it couldn't have a treat. "Um.." she glanced back, "You now how I am. I have to go check it out." And after a nervous giggle, she was gone in a flash, right after Io. A short run later, she was ten feet away from him at the entrance of the temple, peering around a corner and watching him. He was tense and focused on something in his line of vision. Lylth knew better than to go walking out into the open and making a scene, in case whatever has a hold on his attention isn't human (which it almost certainly wasn't; Io never behaved like this when it was any less than some sort of demon near the grounds). Instead she chose to crouch and wait while the guardian remained fixated. I hope whatever it is won't hurt him. She thought to herself for an unknown reason. She knew he could handle things with no problem or effort yet a growing level of his safety was arising within her.

Mitsukai paused, the feeling of someone's eyes on him was hard to miss. He knew it was a bad idea, and this proved it. His eyes scanned the area carefully, and came across a male who seemed to be watching him from across the yard. He smirked lightly, so the temple's pet had come to watch him hmm? He watched the other's every move, but he was not interested in having an audience for his meal. He gave a slight whistle, and the little imp turned it's head, looking up at him with big eyes. As soon as it registered who he was, it gave a little squeal, and turned running off down the street. He turned to follow it, giving a slight look back at the male. He gave a small wink, before with his speed he seemed to vanish after his prey.

Once he caught up to it, he grabbed the little creature by his neck. He lifts him up by his neck, and looks into his eyees. "You should know better then to tresspass on land that dosn't belong to you...your lucky I'm in a good mood today or you would already be dead." He tilts his head as the creature struggles. His energy starts to pulse, drawing in the endergy from the creature. The rush was not as strong as others he had felt, but it would suffice for now. He closed his eyes, focusing on his feeding more then his surroundings. He felt the creature slowly start to stop struggling and relax. It would have been so easy to drain him until he was dead, but Mitsukai could not waste time, he was supposed to be in school. Soon he tossed aside the little creature's body, and turned to move on his way.

Io's body was tense. Ready to spring into action at a moments notice, his eyes sharp and alert. Of course, Io would not make a first move, if the demons weren't here to bother anyone he wouldn't provoke them. Though Io was almost certain the demon prince knew better than to stalk his prey so close to the temple. When the demon whistled, Io's body grew a bit tenser. Not sure what the other's intentions truly were, but when the imp ran off and the demon prince took chase Io relaxed. He was sorely tempted to chase though and give that demon prince a strong reminding of who's territory this was.

He turned on his heels and started back towards the temple. On his way, Io paused when he brought himself next to Lylth. He had known she was there all along, he had sensed her follow him out, but he couldn't reprimand such an action, after all, she was training to fight things such as himself and other types of demons or evil spirits. Still she could have been a liability. She hadn't been though, she had remained hidden. Io stood there, watching her for a moment. He reached out, patting the top of her head lightly, in the affectionate way one would do to a small child. The ghost of a smile found his lips for a moment and then he was walking away. Going back inside the temple.

Lylth was relieved when Io loosened up, and her nervousness went away as the lack of a real threat became apparent. No horrible demon battles to the death today, thank goodness. She began standing up until she noticed him turn around and come back toward the temple. Like a cat who was just caught eating food on the table, she ducked down in a meager attempt to hide (though she knew it was a failure from the beginning, he was almost certainly aware she was present, watching, the whole time). She felt silly for doing it, but if a girl were caught stalking any normal human, it would be considered wildly creepy, but with the guardian of the temple it was different. She compared it mentally to watching a fire burn down a house. You don't know why you watch it, but it's fascinating so you keep doing it anyway. And he was ablaze in her eyes. Wait, what? Lylth thought to herself. I'm having the weirdest thoughts lately. She shunned her mind away from the odd processes in her mind that seemed to engage when she was in the presence of a spirit or demon--or Io, especially.

When Io noticed her (or at least, made it willingly apparent that he noticed her), she felt immediately embarrassed and blushed the moment he patted her head. Yet a small mischievous giggle escaped her lips when he passed. She knew she saw a smile creep up on his lips, too. I knew he wasn't made of stone! A lighthearted poke she made in her mind at him. After he left, she sat down and gazed up at the sky. Her lack of focus had caused her weapon to dissipate from her hands completely unnoticed. "Ugh." A grunt of frustration was let out. There's no way I'll be able to summon that again today. Though she was still glad to have brought it to "life" today after all.

Lylth stood and brushed herself off, then began making her way through the shrine and into the back yard once more to finally begin her morning training, and limber up before the real training later today. Maybe it is more of a spiked gauntlets type day anyway.

Ikari took a breath. He had student council meetings before class began. He walked along to the council room, opening the door. He froze when he saw what staired back. The ghost was there, looking right at him from just inside the door. He slowly moved into the room, not giving anything away to the other council members within the room. They all looked at him as he entered. His best friend and vice president Kent Inu looks over at him from where he sat. "You ok president?" he asked raising an eyebrow at Ikari. He looked over at his friend and nodded feeling a bit in the spotlight now. "I'm fine, sorry..." he says, walking over to his seat. The rest of the people watched him, as he sat down. Even Kisa Harumaka watched him with more intrest then usual. He felt a bit odd with his friends staring at him. He clears his throat "shall we get started?" They all nod, continuing.

Nekozawa sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose as he pondered these latest happenings. Ikari had been right, the activities of spirits and other such things had definitely been reduced as of late. That, combined with the presence of a Watcher... it wasn't good. Nekozawa quickly got changed out of his robe and into his combat gear (profile pic), taking down the katana from where it lay on the mantle, the blade having been in the possession of every Shrine guardian since before Io. Tying it to his belt, he walked out of his room and made his way to the top of the shrine where Io usually spent his time. Breathing a bit heavily once up there he thought to himself, 'I don't remember there being this many stairs.' Leaning against the old, stone railing, he looked out over the city, wondering what it had in store for him and his misfits.

Walking from the entrance of the temple to the backyard was sometimes a bit of a task, considering how large the temple was, so on her way Lylth decided to focus on bringing about her next weapon. She kept a calm waking pace while summoning, her eyes directly ahead of her. A deep breath was taken and her hands began to stiffen, a bright red glow surrounding them, and began wrapping itself like ribbon in between each finger and securing around the wrist until a solid mass resembling metal was formed, taking the appearance of gauntlets. A shine was acquired on the face of the gauntlets when the full transformation to an energy-based black metal was complete. From the knuckles, small spikes began jutting out in a fashion that if she clenched her fists, the spikes' position would be on the dealing end of some serious damage.

After reaching the back yard, she continued her path over to a few old training dummies in a far off section. Some made of wood, some made of wood plus stuffed cloth for more "realism," she assumed. Lylth took her place in front of a dummy without padding and brought a fist to its chest in one smooth, elegant move (if you could apply "elegant" to lightning), and closed her eyes. She kept her fist there for a moment, centering herself and keeping herself aware of her surroundings. Knowing that no spirit detecting powers were in her arsenal, she was at a great disadvantage to some of the others here. But as long as she kept her senses up -- hell, even demons make noise sometimes -- maybe she had a chance. That's it. That's what I'll do. Her senses, that's how she could level the playing field. If she can't see demons, maybe she can learn to hear them, or smell them like some of her comrades can. Even if she would make a fool of herself, there is never any hurt trying. I didn't inherit the ability to see spirits or demons, but for some reason my biological parents gave me the ability to destroy them with these weapons, and my adoptive parents taught me how to use them. I have to learn to see my enemy -- even if I'm not seeing them at all.

Lylth took her hand away from the dummy, pulling the training wrap off of her wrist and placing it like a blindfold in front of her eyes. Even solid objects make noise. All you have to do is listen. The determination in her mind set her body aglow with a green mist surrounding her -- the heart Chakra vividly arising -- not that she could see this. That passion in her thoughts and actions were now entirely her own and entirely devoted to a new goal. Blinded but alert, she stood perfectly still, letting the day's light wind breeze across her lips, her chest, her legs, until her mind was aware of everything.

A fist flew from her side, striking the dummy. Then another. And another. Dozens of flashes, her black gauntlets ablaze with her green aura in furious yet controlled motion, constantly striking, her body ducking as if a foe were throwing punches in return. Wood chips were flying through the air. She spun, landing a solid kick to the dummies head. She spun again, landing an equally devastating punch to the chest, her body remaining unphased by the repeated bashes and splinters of solid wood hitting flesh and gauntlet. She brought her hands above her head and froze for a split second then brought her hands together as if to hold something, her gauntlets disappearing, and with a flash of silver steel, a katana with a dragon's body for a hilt came to life just in time to meet with the wood in one strike that split the dummy in half. Another strike, this time from the side. A continuing onslaught of destruction rained down upon the wood, her sword too fast to be seen for anything more than as flashes of metal reflecting the day's hot Sun.

Her chest became tight, sweat began pouring from her face, her arms began feeling weak, but she refused to stop. My barrage of attacks mustn't end when my body simply refuses to continue, I must own my body. For it is my weapon. She chanted to herself. Training, to Lylth at least, should bring you as close to exhaustion and death as possible -- because no battle is short and simple. Not in this world.
