Long ago the kingdom of Arronia was a beautiful place. Under its' king, the land saw its' finest years. The people never went hungry, and lived happily in peace throughout the land. The king's wife soon bore him a son, an heir to the throne. On the day od the son's birth, the goddess of the land came forth. She gave them a prophesy that a great evil was coming. She said that all hope was not lost though, when the prince became of age, he would lead his kingdom back into the light and vanquish the evil. The king became worried, and sheltered his son from all. The queen fell ill of mysterious causes, and on the prince's third birthday a darkness swept the land. Shadow soldiers and beasts raided the kingdom, turning all to ash and stone. An evil witch entered the castle. Desperate to save his family, the king sent the queen off with their son, as he took on the witch. She was to powerful however, and his attempts ended in vain. Beasts hunted the queen as she fled for her and her son's lives. She was to weak and frail though, hiding her son near an old farm outside of the kingdom before leading the beasts into the dark forest. She was never seen again. Darkness took over, and the kingdom plunged into an era of poverty and despair, with the witch as its' new queen. She was convinced the prince had perished in the dark forest with his mother, for no one had ever survived in there, and so she had nothing to fear...
