Leif laughed lightly at her words, almost not noticing the other woman's disappearance. Arkerril made silent note of the fact with a fair bit of trepidation. There was something entirely off about her, and this other one hid something. Of that the man was certain as he watched from behind the eyes of another.

Pale hair shifted as the grey skinned man shifted to face the bird-like woman with a kind smile. "My people have never been given a name. And we prefer not to give ourselves any, except that of nameless. We're really kind of secretive, and like living peacefully upon the mountains, and in caves." A shocked look crossed his features as Jacky spoke her compliment so easily, making Leif almost wish for Arkerril to take his place, almost but not quite.

Abanya looked in the direction of the entrance, seeing a tall pale haired man walking in. Her eyes followed his movements, a smile coming to her lips as she did. Standing and straightening her dress, She started toward him, hoping to catch him before he melted into the crowd. Hopefully, he wouldn't ask her to dance.

He turned as he sensed eyes on him. "Oh, Hello Miss." he bowed nicely for her, a mass of white hair spilled over the eyeholes of his mask causing him to shoosh them out of the way quickly. "I'm sorry Ma'am." he apologized offering her his arm. "I'm not quite used to this human form." he rolled one of his shoulders back listening to the cracking noise it made as it shifted into place. "Do you have a name?" he asked, looking at her beautiful dress. "I'm. . talking to much aren't I?" he allowed a small half smile to pass his lips.

Abana smiled again as he turned to meet her. "That makes two of us unused to human form. I am Abanya," she said, taking the offered arm. "And I do not mind talking, I would actually prefer it over dancing. What is your name?" Her smile stayed in place, she might actually enjoy herself here. Her eyes quickly darted around the chamber, looking for open seats that they could sit in. "Would you like to sit somewhere?"

He nodded once, silently before leading them over to a cozy sitting area. "My name is Rovna." he smiled at her, wondering what sort of other form she may have. "might I ask what form usually suits you?" he tilted his head observing her. Here, there were to many scents of so many different creatures he was unable to distinguish hers alone. "And you don't have to worry, I'm a horrid dancer. I probably won't be asking to dance, unless I want to make a fool of myself."

Abanya let him lead her to the seats, taking one before answering. "My natural form is that of a wyvern. Might I ask yours?" She laughed quietly at his statement of dancing. "I would probably do much the same, if I tried. I have not learned any dances, and human feet are so much less sturdy than mine." She fidgeted in place, unused to so many different scents as well. Her natural form had an excellent sense of smell, but this one...

"I'm a merman." he laughed fidgeting with his pants. "So i'd literally look like a fish out of water on the dancefloor." he looked over to the dancers, spinning around eachother expertly. "My Best friend is a faerie, she helped me assume this form so I could come tonight. Heaven knows why she wanted ME to come. She dropped me here then flew off." he smirked up at the ceiling as if he expected her to be hovering above. "If you don't enjoy these things." he swept his hand across the front of him, gesturing to the party going on around them. "Then why did you come?" he rose one of his eyebrows, unseen under the mask.

So he was one of the water people. She didn't know much about them. His question startled her a bit. "I'm the... queen of my colony. I had to come," she responded, looking just a bit confused. "Why did your friend leave you?" That didn't sound like something a friend, as she knew it, would do. But all of the interactions between species was complicated, and she still didn't fully understand it. Her kind were simple, in that respect. Fight your way to the top, be stronger than those around you. Places away, like this, were the only places she didn't have to fight.

"Well, about fifty years ago we went to a party like this she wanted me to find someone to marry." he chuckled a bit leaning back in his chair. "I suspect this is her second attempt." he shrugged. "I am not interested in a partner, my father is in good health and should be able to rule without my aid for many decades to come." he nodded once, looking at her respectively. "A queen hm?" he smiled at her. "Well your highness, it really is a pleasure to meet you." he bowed his head as he did the first time he spoke to her. "But Miss. . .as you may know Merfolk don't exactly walk on land that much. .what pray tell is a Wyvern?" he sat forward, entranced. He always loved learning about land beasts.

Marry? She'd heard the term before... Ah, partner, mates for life. She blushed a little at his compliment, glancing down to her hands before looking back up at him. His lack of knowledge about her kind almost matched with her lack of knowledge about his. "Wyverns are the oldest kind of dragon, having only two legs and wings that work as front legs as well. Most kinds of wyvern are small, but mine is large, enough to rival the other dragons in size," she explained, hoping he at least knew what a dragon was. How else could she explain it? She could shift, she supposed, but it would have to be outside.

He nodded. "Ah, I think I might have seen one of your kind before. When I take my sister above to sit on the rocks I tend to watch the skies. I've seen normal dragons. I know that much." he smiled politely. "What is your kingdom like? I always though dragons lived in high mountain caves and stole gold from vicious kings." he joked watching her to make sure she hadn't been offended by anything. "I think the correct term is . . .clan? You're a clan leader yes?" he asked crossing his legs, he hated how the space between them felt so awkward.

Her kingdom? Did he mean her territory? She shifted how she was sitting, she really needed to learn more about other peoples! At least he knew of dragons. "It is not much in the way of a human kingdom, there are no cities of us or treasures, not even real laws," she started, wondering how to phrase the rest. "It is.. primal. I am queen because I am the largest and strongest. The others obey me because of that." She sighed and shook her head, it didn't seem to make sense. Not out loud. "I fear I cannot tell you of it correctly. It is incredibly simple, yet complex as well."

He thought for a moment. "No I think I understand." he smiled at her. "I would like to see that someday." he mused resting his head in his hand. "I doubt I ever will, but it is a nice thing to think about." he nodded once before standing. "Lets get a drink and perhaps walk around the garden. I hear the Queen keeps her garden in beautiful condition." In truth he liked seeing the trees, touching the grass. . smelling the crisp dry earth. "May I?" he asked holding out his hand to help her up. "Hm, you must rule alone then?" he asked continueing their conversation.

Abanya blinked in surprise as she took the mer's hand. Her violent life was nice to think about? Maybe he didn't understand as well as he thought. "The gardens would be nice," she said, standing to walk with him. "I do, females are naturally larger than males, and we do not keep a specific mate year to year." She frowned. There were some, she knew, that looked down on such things. She didn't understand why, it made for much stronger offspring. "Tell me more about your kind, I feel as if I am doing too much talking, now," she said with a smile, honestly knowing little about merpeople.

He shrugged. "It is complicated, we have the royal family . . my family, they make the laws. . control the sea and how it will act on any given day. We are not the delicate creatures many think us to be though. We must feed on human souls to sustain our own lives which is why my sisters, the huntresses sing on the rocks in the human realm. . there is a portal within the castle that allows us to go there to feed." he sighed a moment, touching one of the many red roses in the garden. He smiled as he watched the fireflies dance. "We can turn to foam when needed, but only in the human realms. . .hm." he thought for a moment. "It's not all bad though, there are magnifivent parties. . choir." he smiled watching the Wyvern woman walk amoungst the roses. "It's all quite boring to me though. . i've been doing the same things for so long."

Abanya trailed her fingertips along the petals of flowers the same shade as her eyes, taking in what he said. They could turn themselves human, and to foam? It was more than she could do. "It sounds very different from my life," she said, pulling her hand away from the flower. She gave a sigh, understanding the part about the sameness of everything. "Yet I have the same feeling, much of the time. My life is very much the same every year. You, at least, you are allowed to travel, correct?" Even she was allowed, though if she was gone for too long... She'd have to re-establish herself.

"Well, not exactly." he stopped to sit at a bench between two rose bushes. "The females, the huntresses are allowed to travel. They can go on land once a year, become human. As a male I can not do such things. The only way I am able to be here tonight is this." he pulled down his shirt a bit to reveal a glowing yellow necklace filled with pixiedust. "My friend Xenith helped me. . if my father found out he would be upset but I needed to break the routine. I go insane down there with nothing to do. Most mermen can get jobs or something. . the only Job I have is escorting my sisters to the rocks. . I'm not allowed to have a true job because of my social standing." he let out a small audible sigh. After a moment of silence he chuckled. "i complain alot, forgive me your highness." he smirked at her, pulling aside his mask. White hair poured over his face and into his eyes, it came down past his ears. His red eyes observed her. "You're far more beautiful when I can actually see you." he laughed.

Abanya frowned, why would they not let him do anything? She sat beside him, more eager than ever to understand the ways of others. "I do not think of is as complaining too much," she said, slight blush returning at the last comment. "Thank you. I am not in this form often enough to hear such things." And she would never hear it in her natural form. "What part of the sea do you reside in? I am far from it." It was such a vast thing, and made her own territory seem small.

"It's North of here, when we go through the portal it is part of the Caspian Sea." he nodded towards her blinking. "It's hard for my eyes to see out here." He chuckled. "Have you met the queen yet?" he questioned looking towards what appeared to be a throne room. "I'm sure she's very busy but I would think it smart of her to get on your good side Miss." he chuckled. "And the others, do you know anyone else here?"

Abanya nodded, she remembered the map she'd been shown, so long ago. And where she lived on it. "I have met her, it was very brief," She frowned slightly. "Is she always so..." What was the right word? Callous? Rough? Something like that... "So callous? Is that the right word for it?" She shook her head, it still didn't sound right. "And I know no one else here. You are the first I have spoken with." She was thankful of that, and smiled at him again. "I live in the Armenian Highlands. It is in the human country of Turkey, I believe."

"I see." he smiled. "Well, I haven't yet met the queen but im trying to avoid doing so. . ." Rovan smirked, brushing some dirt from his tailcoat. "I'm having more fun than I suspected I would." he confessed looking at her. "You know, I wonder about the Queens motives for having this ball." his eyes danced around various parts of the garden, a light smile stay painted on his pink lips. He moved his mask back to cover his face. "And, I wonder when my friend will be returning. . . She wouldn't just leave me to find my own way back home." he sighed but then shrugged and looked back to Abanya. "I think I might be sad to see us part ways, I don't have many friends back home as I am not allowed to."

"I would think boredom part of her reason," Abanya reasoned. It would likely be a part of her own reason, if she had the means to hold a ball. Though, she would probably never do so. "I would like to meet this friend of yours." His mention of them eventually parting sobered her thoughts. After this night she would have to return to her home. Though... "Perhaps we need not stay parted for long. I can find the Caspian sea to visit, if you were able to slip away from your father on occasion. I would not be able to stay there, I think..," she trailed off, a new thought coming to her. She was different from most of her kind, in that she could harness their innate magics at all. And she had left plenty of offspring already. She truly didn't need to stay there. It was a frightening, yet alluring, thought.

"Really? You would do that for someone you hardly know?" a light smile covered his face. "I-I would certainly love that." he smiled wider baring a pair of vampiristic fangs. "Xenith!" he called out looking at the sky. After a moment of silence a small pixie appeared and landed on the Prince's shoulder. "Hi there mi'lord. Who might this gorgeous young lady be?" she winked at Abanya with one of her twinkling purple eyes. "Oh Xen, this is Abanya. . she is the Queen of a Wyvern Clan near turkey." Xenith immediately nodded. "Oh! A Wyvern huh? I bet you're real strong." a tinkling giggle escaped her mouth. "Has Rov been giving you much trouble? I'm sure he's been complaining about me but if i'd stayed he never would have met you."
"That is true." Rovna stated watching Abanya carefully. "She's offered to come see me sometime." he smiled over at his friend. "Oh has she?" Xenith smirked. "Mm." Rovna nodded.
The tiny pixie flitted over, landing on the Wyvern Queens knee. "And why might that be hmm?"

Abanya nodded to the merman's first question, about to answer when he called for his friend. She watched the small fae as they had their exchange, marveling at how such fragile-seeming wings could carry her. The fae's question brought her mind away from that, though. "I am far from young, little one, and had offered to visit out of curiosity. My kind usually don't travel, and I find I am the only one that even has thoughts of it." Her reply gave most of her reason, though there was loneliness in the equation, too. The mage who had taught her how to take this form... it was a long time ago. "I find that it may be the time in my life to go out, and see more than just my little part of the world."

Xenith would nod her tiny blonde haired head, sending small curls spilling over her shoulder. "It's almost midnight Sire, You should leave. . I don't know how much longer the spell will be able to hold. I'm no Titania I can't keep the spell held for to long." she confessed caressing his cheek with a miniscule porcelain hand. "I see." he nodded and got to his feet. "Abanya, I suppose this is where I must leave you. . ." He looked saddened by this prospect. "I would have very much liked to see your true form though." he said taking of his mask and setting is on the bench. He wouldn't need it where he was going.
