Dimitri was perched high in a tree near the castle walls, listening carefully for the sounds of the castle to quiet down. The crescent moon was high in the cool sky and by now he had studied the pattern of the two guards that walked along the wall. Dimitri adjusted his mask over his nose and mouth and pull his hood of his cloak over his head, leaving only his bright green eyes visible.
Once the two guards had passed each other He made his move, jumping high from the tree and quietly landing on the wall for a brief second before he leaped to the nearest tree. He quickly ducked into the shadows and scanned the area for anyone else.
Dimitri was here to take back the gem that was stolen from his tribe. The only thing that let know where it was was the small shard from the gem that was embedded in his right wrist. He could feel a humming from the shard, he knew he had to be close to it.

Alexander sat at the desk in his room, brushing his cheek with the feather of his quill. He was not the High Prince, his older brother had that title, and so his Father had given him a gem set on a chain just a few days ago. He had put it on, and when he had woken the next morning the stone had embedded itself into his skin, it sat at the base of his throat now, the chain useless and sitting on his desk. He, nor the doctors could explain why the gem had done such a thing. He sighed and rested his head on his hand as he stared at the paper in front of him. He wasn't even sure what he was supposed to be doing at the moment. He had wanted to write a letter, but now had no thoughts to even put to paper. He tugged on a lock of white hair and sat back in the chair. He didn't notice that the gem at his throat had started to glow softly, the chip it was missing back in close proximity.

Dimitri had made his way to the window without being spotted. He could feel his heart rattling against his rib cage as he looked around before jumping onto the window ledge. The shard in his wrist was pulsing in time with his heart, he knew it must be close. That's when he noticed the figure at the desk. He jumped back for a moment then realized he was at the figures back. He reached out his right hand and could see the faint glow of the shard through his long sleeves.
'He must have it.' He thought to himself as he slowly crept towards the figure.
He was almost there when he tripped over something and fell flat on his face with a thud. Dimitri quickly jumped up and tried to hide in one of the shadows of the room.

Alexander was up the moment he heard the thud, his quill on the desk as he reached for the dagger sitting next to the paper that was now splattered with ink. "Who are you, and what do you want?" He asked, gold eyes following the figure into the shadow. "I know you are there." He said and glared, the gems on his jewlry glittering in their silver settings, the gem at his throat pulsating with his own heart beat, the muscle thudding in his chest and seeming ready to beat it's way out of his chest. When he heard no answer he gave a soft growl, "Who ever you are, you are a pathetic attempt for an assassin, I am not even the next in line for the throne, in fact I have three brothers in front of me so I suggest you leave and try another room, though theirs will be more heavily guarded than my own."

"I'm not an assassin!" Dimitri hissed then quickly covered his mouth. He sighed, "Well damn."
He stepped out of the shadows and removed his hood, revealing his short, messy dark purple hair, his bright green eyes, and pointed ears.
"I'm not here for your life, I'm here for what your people took from my tribe!" Dimitri said quietly, "It's that gem on your neck there. Give it back and I'll leave you alone and never come back."
Dimitri tried to stare and the young man but he couldn't help glancing around to make sure the guards didn't hear them. His ears twitched as he tried to listen for them.

"Even if I want to I can't. The damned thing embedded it self into me the first night I wore it. The Doctors even tried cutting it out, but their tools won't cut the skin around it. And what do you mean stole? My father gave this to me because I am the youngest, he said it has been in our family for generations." He then noticed the elfin ears, well that would explain it. Elfs out lived his kind by far. "He said something had told him to give it to me instead of High Prince Nicolas like it has been for years...passed down from King to Heir." Alexander straightened, his chin going up, the blue gem at his forhead resting against his pale skin and the gems at his ears swinging gently with the movement. "How exactly do you plan on taking it if no one can get it out?" He asked. His frame was only a little larger than the Elf's, but by human standards he was much smaller than most males of his race.

"Well then I guess your elders are the one's who took it." Dimitri replied as he stared at the young man. "If it's been passed down through so many generations that must be the case."
He had to admit, he thought the human would be much bigger than him. Though he was glad he wasn't, that would just make it easier to capture him. He hadn't really planned on taking the prince, just the gem, but since the gem was now embedded in him it looked like he had no choice. After all, he certainly didn't want to hurt him or kill him.
"Either way if the gem won't leave you then I guess that means you have to come with me." Dimitri said.
With one quick motion Dimitri grabbed the rope from his side and tackled the Prince. He quickly wrapped he rope around the young mans wrists and tried to tie it before he could get free.

The tackle was certainly suprising, even more so was hte fact that his head bounced on the ground and dazed him long enough for hte elf to bind him. He shrugged lightly, "It's not like they will care that I am gone. They will care more about the gem than me, I am only the fourth in line after all." He said softly, as much stating that he would not fight against the strange elf, but come with him peacfully. "Do with me what you will." He said softly and looked at his now captor.

Dimitri blinked as he stared at the young man in surprise. He wasn't really sure what to do with this now. He had expected so many things in this mission, but so far everything was turning into the opposite.
"Humans are strange, strange creatures." He said, unaware he was still sitting on the young man.
He crossed his arms as he thought for a moment, "Would you really come peacefully with me? Since the gem has chosen you, I think you could help my people."

Alexander nodded and smiled, "Yes, I will come with you, but for me to do that you kind of have to get off of me." He said softly and shifted under the other. "Are you going to take me now or just sit on top of me all night?" He asked, "And may I take some of my things...if it looks more like I ran away then an army will not be sent after you."

Dimitri blushed bright red and jumped off the boy, "I-um-s-s-sorry!" He looked around awkwardly for a moment, his ears twitching as he tried to calm down. Dimitri cleared his throat and untied the other boys wrists before helping him up.
"Y-you have a good point. Go ahead and get your things, but pack light. I'll take you back to my tribe and I'll explain things on the way there." He walked over to the window and cautiously peeked outside. "Oh, and um, th-thank you for doing this."
He turned his attention back to the young man as he smiled softly.

"It is not like I am of any use to my family anyways, I was just another son, not a daughter to make ties." Alexander shrugged as he got up, he grabbed two pairs of clothes, some socks, slipped on his shoes as he grabbed his small jewlry box, it wasn't very big, but it was a gift from his Mother, and had things inside that might be sold if needed. He then reached under his pillow and grabbed a rather old stuffed rabbit and put him at the top of the pack before he took his sword and strapped it to his hips. "I am ready." He smiled lightly, his pack on his shoulders as he looked to the elf.

"Humans really are strange creatures." Dimitri said with a smile as he checked out the window again.
He waited for the guards to make their pass again before turning his back to the young man, "Climb on my back. It will be faster if I carry you over the wall."
His ears twitched as he glanced around the court yard, watching the guards disappear. He couldn't believe how easy this had been, he was prepared for a struggle, a fight even, but he was very please at how cooperative the prince was.
'I wonder if he'll be comfortable helping my people once we get there though.' Dimitri thought, 'Compared to all this we'll probably seem like savages to him.'

"Are you sure you can carry me?" He asked as he started to do what the elf told him. "And you know...the same can be said of elves." He said softly as he wrapped his small but lyth arms around his chest, over one shoulder and under the other arm so he didn't choke the slightly smaller elf. "Your kind are so pretty, and could help us so much, but you just stay in your forests and ignore us." Alexander said as he jumped up onto the other's back lightly.

"Don't worry, I'm stronger than I look." Dimitri said with a grin as the other male climbed onto his back.
Dimitri blushed at being called 'pretty' as he held the young mans legs, just behind the knees so he wouldn't fall. The young mans words caught him off guard for a moment, nearly making him drop the other boy.
"Ignore you?" Dimitri arched an eye brow as he looked back at him, "We don't ignore your kind, we hide from your people."
Dimitri looked out the window, searching for the guards once more, his ears twitching once again as he listened for their foot steps.
"Hold on tight!" He said quietly as he leaped from the window to the trees, then from tree to tree until they were on the other side of the castles walls.

Alexander clung to the elf, bitting back a yelp so he wouldn't alert any of the guards. Once on the other side of the walls Alexander looked around and smiled lightly, "I'm not aloud outside the grounds much." He said softly as he climbed from the elf's back. "Where do we go now?" He asked softly

Dimitri smile when he felt the boy cling to him. He wondered why he wasn't aloud outside of the grounds, but thought it was best not to ask.
"Now we go to my tribe." Dimitri said with a grin, "It's not too far of a walk from here, then we go through the tunnel, and then we'll be at the edge of my tribe."
Dimitri had taken a couple step away when he suddenly stopped and turned to look at the other boy.
"I just realized I don't know your name." Dimitri said as he bowed, "My name is Dimitri, what is yours?"

"Alexander." He said softly and blushed, the pink color tinting his cheeks lightly. "We should get going before the wall guards make a round." He said and started for the edge of the woods. His white hair catching the little breeze that was blowing.

"You're right, just fallow me." Dimitri said, pulling the hood over his head once more, hiding his own blush as he lead the way into the woods.
'Elves aren't the only ones that are pretty.' Dimitri thought to himself, 'If I let myself I'm sure I could catch myself finding feeling for this human.'

Alexander nodded, pulling his own hood up and following the elf. He may have been a prince, but he was his Mother's baby, and as such had been treated like a child till recently, it helped a little that he was 16 now, his mother was starting to back up a little and not crowed him so much.

Dimitri lead the way, weaving in and out of the trees, looking back occasionally looking back to make sure he wasn't leaving him behind.
"So..." He finally said, breaking the silence, "This isn't really going how I thought it would. Why are you so willing to leave your home? I know you said you were the fourth son, but won't your clan still worry about you?"

Alexander scoffed, "they will probably not notice I am gone for a few days, well mother might once she comes back in two days, but before then." Alexander shook his head gently, "All my family, and anyone else cared for was my eldest brother and the second. Girls were wanted after that, but they got stuck with two more boys, you can't marry off boys." He smiled at Dimitri lightly as he continued to follow the elf, his own steps were nearly silent, quiet and soft.

"That seems weird to me," Dimitri replied bluntly, "In my clan I'm the youngest of twelve and I'm not treated any differently from my eldest sisters or brothers. That's why I say you humans are strange, it's your customs."
He stopped and looked around for a moment before he lead the way to a large, thick tree. He circled it for a moment before stopping at a large hole near the roots.

Alexander followed him and peered into the hole for a moment before looking at Dimitri. "So we go down there? Is it like a ramp of sorts, or just a giant hole that I hope I don't break my legs at the bottom for jumping through?" He asked and stepped back a little. He had never been very fond of dark spaces, one of hte castle maids always had to come into his room during the night and change out the candle if it got to low because Alexander would freak out if he woke in the dark of night.

Dimitri grinned as he picked the other boy up as if he were carrying a bride, "It's kind of a mix of both answers. Just hang on tight so I don't drop you on the way down."
With that Dimitri jumped into the whole, holding the prince close to him on the way down. Darkness engulfed them for a few seconds before they started passing what looked like glowing rocks that dimly lit the tunnel they were falling through. As the wind rushed passed them Dimitri braced himself for the landing, hitting the dirt harder than he intended. His feet slipped out from under him and the rest of the way down the dim lit tunnel he slid like a child on a slide. The whole way down Dimitri held the prince close to him until they came out of the tunnel in one flip, causing Dimitri to land flat on his back.
