Vivian laughed when Ziya "guessed" her name. She was sort of a local celebrity, though her modesty made it easy to forget. "Thank you," she said. "I guess it's easy for the boss to keep me around with a nice smile. You know the station pays hundreds of dollars a month to upkeep my hair, make-up and wardrobe? It's crazy. Whatever happened to just reporting the news and being a good journalist? Looks shouldn't matter to everyone the way they do. I mean, if I come to work in sweats with a big pimple and roots to my shoulders, the news is still the same news."
She laughed and then sighed. She couldn't deny how much she loved being pampered though. She'd grown up being pampered, her parents having so much money being so high up in the city's food chain. She didn't think anyone's looks should matter so much, but despite not caring much about her own looks, she wasn't sure how well she'd survive without hot water and weekly trips to the spa.
Despite needing the relaxing trips, Vivian poured her heart and soul into her job. She had been born to be a journalist. Telling people the real story and getting to the bottom of things was her passion. She considered herself almost as much of a detective as a journalist. The two jobs went hand in hand.
Her drinks arrived. She slid one to Ziya. "It was great to meet you, Ziya." She flashed her another smile and headed back to her girlfriends, passing by a woman with black scales. As she passed the woman, she turned up her nose. Those creatures were nothing but trouble.

"I imagine they feel it makes you seem more trustworthy .... to be so reliable and caring about your reports that you would make yourself beautiful as not to distract. People are like that sometimes. Still, it was nice to meet you, and if you ever need something let me know. I might be able to help." She responded with a wink, her words framed to mean just about anything. She reached into her bag and pulled out a piece of paper with her name and number which she pressed into the other woman's hand as she went to leave. She did not have a true cell phone really but her earrings could act as one. Still, dialing the number she gave would work to activate them as it simply required thinking of her and contacting her to activate.
She actually rather liked the other woman and trouble was brewing. She didn't want her to die simply because she did not realize that magic folk were much like humans. There was bad and good in everyone of them. She could do little but she could protect since the woman had given her a drink. A favor for a favor, a law among her kind. She could choose what favor, however, and she chose this. She could not kill, she gave up the right with her crown, but she still had other ways of doing things...
Mia sighed and stood where she was for some time, staring up at the bar. Finally she entered slowly, her steps soft as moonlight against the floor as she walked. She payed no mind to anyone looking at her or how she seemed to get stares. She did not look like she belonged here. No make up, simple dress, conservative and demure... she knew this but she did nothing to change this. Her clothing matched the time, even if she had always been one to dress much simplier then most. If they had any complaints it mattered little to her.
She glanced over the room surprised to see two mystical beings, including what felt like an Eclipse fae. What was one doing on this plane of existence? They always seemed to appear when trouble was brewing, however, so perhaps she should not have been surprised. Still, the creature did not seem on duty... she looked like she was just having fun. Of course, Eclipse folk were not understood by even most of the fairy kingdom so she could not rely on appearances she knew. Still her empathy revealed something so... light. There was little balance in her, so likely she was not fully trained....
She shook her head, gazing upward as she felt the silent pleas for a white unicorn once more. She could not resist them long she knew, it was not the nature of her. She sighed to herself and soon skipped over the stairs, her curls and waves bouncing and floating around her almost. She would never look truly of this world, it was not in her. A unisus, after all, was the magic of heaven and earth combined into a single being... how could that ever look other then what it was? Unnatural and far away, like illusions dancing in the moonlight.
As she reached the door she felt the pleas from she simply reached up and knocked on the door. She knew sometimes the heart begged, knowing what it needed, but the mind was not ready. Just because she had been summoned by a heart, it did not mean a mind would accept her. So she said nothing, and simply waited. There was no expression on her face, just the mark of ages where sadness seemed overwhelming until she could take no more lingering in the back of her eyes as it always did. Empathy protected her well but it always came too with its price.

"I'm glad to hear that." Standing, the amethyst eyed man walked to the unicorn's side and held out a rather plain hand mirror. "Once the power is cut off, we shall need these to communicate. Until then, it's imperative that we learn the state of mind of the supernatural community." With a nod he moved away and out of the room. Quickly, the tall man reinstated his glamour when he noted the presence of a white being of a magical power he'd never seen. He needed to move, and quickly at that before the woman was able to wreak any havoc with his plans!
With a small bow, he shuffled away with the fear that his newly one ally might easily be swayed. Hopefully the exchange of names was enough to stop that, but there was no telling what might happen next. With such thoughts Maldue slipped into a nearby washroom to clamber out of it's window. Over the roof tops he went until he was certain of peace and quiet. Pulling out the same mirror as before, he focused upon those he wished to speak to positioned near the power plant.
"Do it now, cut off the human's power! The city was soon plunged into darkness. Crashing sounds resounded through the air as traffic lights failed. Screams and chaos soon filled the space between the buildings making Maldue grin to himself as he watched his plans finally unfold.
Adamaris halted her dance quickly as music and lights disappeared. All the noise created by cellphones was replaced with questioning glances from one person to another. With a shake of her head, the siren tried to find someone who might know what was going on. It was relief that Ada spotted a television newscaster at a nearby table.. She moved to sit beside the woman she recognized from the news and the others with her. "Do any of you know why the power went off?" The sudden obscurity at that time of night didn't bother her at all, but Ada knew the humans would be rather distraught over the loss of light.

Vivan slid into her booth and tucked the paper the woman had passed her into the pocket of her jean jacket. She truly enjoyed making new friends, it was even better that the woman was willing to help, should Vivan ever need it. People like Ziya tended to end up long term, good friends.
Just as Vivian finished passing out the drinks the lights went out. Immediately the place went dead silent, though it only lasted for a moment before people began talking among themselves questioning the outage and it's duration. Outside a crash was heard at the nearby light. A dish or two fell from the hands of waitstaff or tables.
Vivian blinked, trying to adjust vivid teal colored eyes to the darkness. She pulled her cell phone from her pocket to use it's light, but it too had mysteriously shut off. That was strange. A power outage wouldn't shut down cell phones, too. Something else was going on here.
When the woman slid into the booth across from her, Vivian tried to focus on her, though she had no luck. "No," she replied to the outline of the figure she couldn't make out. She slid from the booth, grabbing her purse. "But I'm going to find out." It was not only in Vivian's curious nature to find out, but it was also her job. She pulled her purse over her shoulder and headed towards the door as her friends continued worrying and chattering with each other.
She kept one hand out away from her at waist level as she felt her way through the establishment, unable to see clearly and trying to watch her feet as her black stilettos announced her passing.

Feori took the mirror that the other handed to him. Looking at it and nodding slightly. Then the fae was slipping away from Feori before he could ask a question or two, though none really came to mind. He bit his bottom lip, looking at the mirror in his hand and then turned to follow, Feori stopped in his tracks. Eyes landing on the white creature at the door. Just looking at her made Feori feel even more uncertain.
His heart had nearly skipped a beat and he took a step back and dropped to his knees, clutching that mirror very tightly in his hand. Who was she? Certainly no ordinary cousin of his. She was a white unicorn though, as far as he could tell, even though she felt different. Feori's lips parted to speak, then the lights went out, there were loud noises from outside and a pain ripped through Feori's heart rather suddenly. It was the pain of hurting innocence, and though he could ignore it and push it aside, it had caught him by surprise. He had let go of that mirror, dropped it and placed his hand over his heart.
Innocents were not supposed to get hurt, though he had not said that to his new ally. The man had run off so quickly, but still all humans were horrible, and the deaths of a few could be justified, couldn't it? Casualties were to be expected. For a few moments he had forgotten the white woman was there, standing before him, now even in the dark, he raised his eyes to her. "It's alright, isn't it, if some of them must die for our vengeance, no, our justice?"
There wasn't much purity and innocence left in humans, but there were few who still remained with such qualities. Mostly children, but those were the ones that should be spared. Given a chance to leave the city before casualties could be made. Even though all humans were horrible. The hand that rested over his heart moved to his head. They were all horrible, even the ones that had some innocence and purity left, because they were human they were horrible. Feori's head was beginning to hurt.

Ziya shook her head no to the woman's question but was frowning slightly. She'd felt a surge of magic and knew this was no ordinary black out. She winced as she felt the balance twist and writhe but said nothing. She only stood and began to follow the reporter silently. She may be giving her that help sooner then she had expected. She did not wish to harm anyone but she knew the reporter had even fewer defenses then she expected.
"It sounds like you might not want to get involved in this...." She said softly to the red head as she caught up to her. She sighed softly to herself, not knowing what to say. She didn't like the sounds of screams and her ears twitched slightly lower though the glamor hid it. She was tempted to release the glamor but she knew that the woman would only want to run away. How she thought about the mystical was clear....
"Is it really justice when the one's your killing aren't the ones who actually did the wrong? When the one's you kill were not even yet born in some cases...?" She asked him softly, tilting her head to the side. She closed her eyes, able to hear the tears and feel innocent die. The passing of children was even harder for her then that of an adult, and tiny bodies were being crushed in those giant metal monstrosity now. Even infants were dying as their frail little bones snapped beneath the crushing weight.
"It does not seem so to me..... but that is something you must decide for yourself. What is vengeance? What is justice? I do not think they are the same, they seem to go together so rarely. I will tell you this. If your heart is telling you something is wrong, you may want to pause. Also.... That fae who left..... He is corrupted. A corrupted fae often goes mad, but they can not be healed until they desire it even by one such as me. They can not be trusted even by themselves." She spoke again, honest and simple words. Her voice was gentle, but filled with certainty. She had seen fae corrupted by magic or other things betray even their own truths. She opened her eyes then and looked at him, pity briefly flashing through those clear blue eyes.
"But I can not say much, many things seem to have changed..... I have been sleeping many years until your need awoke me. Empathy is unfortunately something no unicorn's child can truly escape." She said simply. She turned to gaze out the window in thought, knowing there was to many for her to heal even if they would allow her too. Considering what magic had just wrought she doubted that many humans would trust even a unicorn to heal them. Their fates would be decided by their own will, such was the way of things.

He stood slowly, his hands limp at his sides. The humans had killed many of his kind and fae kind alike for no reason other than that they were in the way, or to selfishly acquire their magic. Innocent creatures had died at the hands of the humans, so now, maybe it was the human's turn. Innocent humans to die at the hands of the creatures they had so hunted. A fury rose up in Feori, but still he hesitated.
"They brought ruin to us all. Isn't it our turn to bring ruin to them? Our kin must be avenged." He spoke the words slowly, almost uncertainly as he moved closer to her. "Lady cousin," A realization had suddenly dawned on Feori, she had just told him, the corrupted fae could not be trusted. Despite his earlier reservations he had told the fae his name. "..I gave him my name." Feori took a step back, and then bolted from her. He fled from her and her words, though truly, deep in his heart he wished to remain by her side. There was something else to ask her, but he left her there.
Rushing down the stairs and out the building in the dark. He could see better than humans in the darkness, but not by a lot. Outside the building he stopped. Eyes wide and nearly wild at the scene that greeted him on the street. Feori backed against the wall next to the door he had exited from. Things shouldn't be this way, but they had to. Justice and vengeance, they were the same for Feori, he would acquire the justice by avenging his kin. It was simple, yet for something so simple it was painfully confusing.

Mia followed him slowly, the confusion in his heart making his words seem like drops of rain against a stone roof, uselessly breaking and leaving nothing, no meaning in their wake. She knew that this would not be the last time he called her, so there was no reason to leave his side. He ran but now he would see the consequence of his actions, the true blood of his so called 'justice'. She came to a stop at his side, glancing with a knowing look at the dying in a nearby car. The family was dead and a five year old was the only thing living. The child reached out to them but then the small girl's eyes glazed over and that soft little hand fell as death took her.
"I wonder what she did to ruin our kind... or those who died fighting at our side to defend us or the humans who hid us and offered sanctuary. Is justice served? I see no fay springing to life for this 'justice' you claim. There is no race that is purely good or purely evil, even unicorns fall. Now the fae has fallen and has your name, and more innocent then guilty will die. The humans will be convinced that we are evil, as many magic fallen have before, and they will rise against magical beings in their own 'justice'. A never ending pattern that saves no one but destroys everything " She said quietly, a sadness entering her tone. It was these things that had made the unicorn choose to sleep, comforted by the unchanging waves. It would be a night of hell that would serve no purpose save to incite a war that she had hoped had ended....
She shook her head and moved to follow the pangs she felt of other innocents nearby. She would heal those she could, but some like the girl it was too late. The soul was gone even as the body tried to reach out for some comfort, some savior. She said nothing more, knowing he would have to make his own choice. She did not wish to lead against the fay but there was no way she could let children and others die... Children would give her permission at least even if most of them thought she was an angel as her wings grew from her back and her forehead gem became a horn so she could use her powers.

Adamaris sighed and frowned as she tired to think of what actions to take nest. There was the newscaster who obviously had no liking for the fae ... Then there was that orange haired man who had run by, and the white woman who had followed him. The screams outside drew her out at last, into chaos and despair. Eyes wide, Ada let out a soft cry then moved forward past the horned, winged, woman and the man she'd first noticed running outside. Quickly her hands moved to small gems dangling from locks of her long hair to pluck and pick until water bound healing potions lay within her hands.
Glancing to the woman, she smiled sadly. "Lady, tell me who I can help with these." Glancing at the orange haired unicorn, she thrust a bottle or two into his empty hands. "Don't just stand there, these people need help! And if you're hung up on their humanity, at least help the children." Even the fae who hated humans had a soft spot for the young, so surely this man would help? Ada couldn't imagine anyone inciting such a disaster, and certainly not one of the supernatural community.

Feori had expected a few casualties. Nothing like this. He tore his eyes from the horrible scenery and turned them to the white woman. There was truth in her words and wisdom, Feori could recognize it, but not quite grasp it yet. "We aren't evil. They drove us to this with their selfishness. They are horrible." The words sounded so very uncertain though. Children shouldn't be involved though. Not once had Feori thought that children would get hurt, but still. They were human children. His heart ached powerfully for a moment, then the pain dulled.
Suddenly someone was shoving things into his hands. He blinked and stared at the bottles that were suddenly in his hands and at the person that had put them there. "..I.." Was all this his fault? He felt like it was, but surely that Edryd was fully to blame, this blood should be on his hands. Even without Feori that fae had already had plans, hadn't he? "...They..." He blinked, staring at the woman had shoved things into his hands. Should he help them? Should the humans he sought revenge against be helped by him? And where had Edryd run off too?
Feori just stood there for a while, those bottles in his arms, then slowly because he knew not what else to do he began to follow the white lady. Feori didn't want to destroy everything, that wasn't his goal, but neither was this.

"And what did that child do to drive you? No.... we are not evil, but like the humans you have made a bad choice and generalized a race. Just as they will generalize us for these children that die here at our feet. A fae has killed their children, if these were your children or your herd would you not believe the fae and those who worked for him evil? He starts a war that can only destroy both sides, until no true justice will ever be found." She responded quietly, her voice touched with a tiredness that sounded like she had seen this before. The actors had been different but the play remained the same. The feeling it would always remain the same had sent her to her sleep, exhausted of the world. What had she so loved once that she had fought and stayed with it for so long before sleeping? She didn't remember... and before she could the siren approached.
"The women in that car, the child in that one... we should gather what children we can into the club for safety along with any others willing to trust us. There will be orphans who need us tonight.... This is not the end of the suffering, even if we heal their wounds they will need protection after." She responded to the woman, pointing out the souls she felt that still clung to life. She would point Feori similarly to any soul she found. She worked as quickly and efficiently as she could, occasionally carrying a child or exhausted adult back to the club. She would like to send a message on the winds to bring survivors here but there was no telling if the fae would pick it up and then know where to attack....

Vivian turned her head at the familiar voice. It was Ziya. "What do you mean?" she asked the woman as she finally reached the door. Did the woman know something about this situation that she didn't? As far as anyone knew it was a simple power outage. Even she had only had an idea that it might not be, but Ziya's warning lead Vivian to believe she may know more.
She pushed through the door bumping into Feori. "Excuse me," she said, unable to see him or his companions clearly in the dark. She made her way slowly down the sidewalk unsure if Ziya was still following behind her. When she finally got to her car confusion hit her. Her car was sitting sideways, halfway in the street. She'd parked in the first parking space next to the bar which happened to be right at the road. There was a car sitting parallel to hers, the one that had hit her rear end and caused her car to spin sideways in it's spot.
Smoke clouded up from the other car's hood, though Vivian couldn't see it very well. "Shit," she said to herself. There was no way she was getting to the station now, much less home. She heard crying nearby and various screams. This was the worst outage the city had had, maybe ever. She could only imagine that many lives had been lost in car accidents. She shuddered at the thought of airplanes that were to be landing in their city. How would they know where to go? She could hear one in the sky as she stood there and she prayed the thing would crash anywhere other than in the city. Those poor people on board...
As the situation hit Vivian, she felt a lump in her throat. Her own family lived in the city. Her mother and father, her brother, her sister and her sister's kids. She needed to get out of there. Not to get to the station and not to get home, to make sure her nieces were okay, to check on her grandparents.
She knew where she was in the city and knew her brother's apartment was closest. "I need to find my family," she muttered. Once she was done and even on the way she would try her best to bust this story open and find out what had happened. She started off in the other direction, stopping momentarily to take her stilettos off before she broke her neck in this awful dark.
Up ahead she heard the sound of glass breaking. She could see, because the men had flashlights, that they were looters, stealing televisions. This was going to be a dangerous trek but Vivian didn't have a choice. She had to be sure her family was safe and she owed it to her city to be on the front lines, to report this story to them and to the world. Something big was happening, she could feel it.

Feori had barely noticed the woman that had bumped into him he was moving shortly afterwards anyway. The unicorn moved as if in a trance, going to aid whomever the white lady pointed him to, to help those that could be helped. There was an odd satisfaction from helping and healing those that wanted it, those that he could. How could helping humans be satisfying? Feori didn't fully understand it.
Such conflicting emotions in his heart and conflicting thoughts in his head, but he did as he was directed because Feori didn't know what else to do. So he helped those that needed it, those that would accept. He could not force his help on those that turned him away or turned away from him. Feori was glad for the potions the woman had thrust into his hands, as a unicorn he could heal with the magic of his horn, even in this form but with these potions he didn't need to exert the energy such action would take and for so many using only his magic would exhaust him greatly.
Feori stumbled, a sharp pain stabbing his heart as another innocent died, somewhere close, he grunted. Honestly, Feori had never felt this much pain in his heart before, there were too many dead, or dying in this city. Just how many people were in the city anyway? Just how many had been driving down the streets in the first place? Far too many. Feori stumbled again, dropping the bottle of potion he had left and placing both hands over his heart.
The heart of a unicorn such as him, could push away and ignore that much pain for only so long. His eyes shimmered, threatening to spill out tears as he looked for his cousin. The white one. She seemed so strong to him now. How could she bear this pain? Or perhaps it was worse for him, because he was to blame for this, if only partly.

She moved a wing and soon the falling potion was moved to her hand as she floated through the chaos like a ghost. She had been through war after war so this pain, this dead emptiness was one she had grown use to. Even the pain of other unicorn's corruption she had born through, and when blamed for it she had endured their betrayal. Her heart was heavy with the weight of it all but she showed none of it in her angelic features. She soon had used the potion and turned back to the unicorn who dropped it.
"You could not know young one.... All you can do now is make the choice to help or hurt, for now you know what vengeance really causes. You were made from the fury of earth, if that fire in your blood is what i think, to enact vengeance or protect. You are the only one who gets to choose$e which, so be strong for them or for yourself." She said quietly as she kneeled in front of him. She put her forehead to his as her horn briefly became a gem once more and her hands over his own, horn to horn so to speak. She let the energy of her pure half, that of her mother the unicorn, pour into him a moment. It would shield him slightly from the pain by shifting it to her instead...
"You can bare this..." was all she said after that as she slowly stood. Her horn released itself once more and she went to healing once more and shifting others back to the club for safety where they could be gathered and protected until they could be removed from the city. She took a deep painful breath every few moments but that was the only sign of the pain she had taken, her normally shining eyes dull. War, War, War, it seemed to exist everywhere... even between unicorns and pegsus at one time. Some of the elemental unicorns were born to protect their herd but as always power brought conflict and people would focus on the different until hatred consumed them in a fire that even the earth could not create.
Ziya sighed as she watched the other woman and reached into the bag she always carried with her. She whispered the world flashlight and soon had two in her hand. She handed one to the other woman with a simple 'here'. She then stayed at the woman's side, her steps light as any fairy's as she watched the people around them with sad eyes. She couldn't heal...... some Eclipse fay were rumored to be gifted with such but she could not. She was meant as a warrior only so she could only watch. Still that meant she could delay the inevitable of the other woman finding out for a little longer. She didn't answer her question, not sure what to say really being she couldn't lie. Sometimes the price for being able to tell when others lie was a bit annoying.
"I'll go with you, safety in numbers right?" Was finally all she said. She spoke in an almost cheerful voice, absently keeping her senses tuned to the world around them. She would only take a second to transform her ring to its halberd form if it was necessary.... but she hoped not. Magic was magic to the other woman she imagined. Still, it or her wings were required for most of her powers to be used so she had little choice...

When she came to him Feori blinked, looking up at her. His lips parted slightly but he said nothing. He really hadn't known, he had thought things would be much simpler, less messy. Less full of death. His body shuddered for a moment and when she touched him he felt very ashamed of himself. His eyes closed, horn to horn. Or as near to it as it could be in these forms.
He breathed deeply as her energy came into him. The pain had lessened, his eyes remained closed for a few moments after she had moved away from him. Slowly those eyes opened and he stood. He could bare this, he would be strong, if not for himself then for those that needed him. Feori inhaled deeply, his own horn appearing at his forehead. It was a bit curved, the point rather sharp and it looked like a solidified spike of living fire.
He had no more of those potions and would have to heal with his own magic now, but that was alright. Feori shoved away all of his confusing thoughts, and tried to focus on the task at hand, he would occupy himself with helping and then later when things had settled down he would speak with the white lady more and perhaps she could make his thoughts less confusing for him.

Vivian clicked her flashlight on. "Thanks," she said. "Better safe than sorry right?" she asked, making excuses as to why in the world the woman had two flashlights in her bag. Really, Vivian didn't care, she was grateful. And despite her judgments on the mythical creatures of the city, she wasn't one to judge her own kind so harshly.
"My brother's apartment is right around the block, he doesn't live far. Do you have any relatives in the area you need to check in on?" She kept her eyes on the looters. People like that weren't typically the best kind of people to meet in dark alleys. She reminded herself of her mini cam in her purse. She'd use it to capture shots like those, but the looters had already taken off towards their homes. Not to mention, there was something else to this story besides looting, but what was it?

"I believe we should make a first aid station at the bar. The human's places of care likely rely on this... captured lightening to run just like everything here..." She said quietly as she glanced over the darkened city. She had not known this modern era so did not know what to call electricity. To her it felt like captured lightening so this is what she called it. Once all from the car crashes were cleaned up she would head to the hospitals and gather those she could and take them back to the bar to set up what she could.
She convinced some bewildered nurses to trust her enough that they would help. They did not have magic but they had enough skill they could help. Soon the tables moved out of the way and hospital gurneys in their place. Medicines taken from the hospital would be used where they could, unicorn healing where it couldn't. She was inwardly thankful that the bar was so big and so clean instead of some tiny seedy place....
(hopefully no one minds me skipping over that part, i can edit if required. I just figured talking to nurses would be boring XD. Of course everyone can agree with her plan and come or choose not to and leave the bar to go wherever. Either way her actions of setting up the bar as a first aid station would be the same)
Ziya nodded, knowing the other woman thought she was human and seeing no reason to dispel the fae glamor to show otherwise. Of course if she used any of her powers it would break it but she hoped that would be unnecessary. She touched her earring as the other woman spoke, thinking absently about her own brother. All her other family was in the Void realm, connected to this one only by eclipses. It was one of the reasons that even to other fairy eclipse' fae were often treated as mere legend until they crossed the veil of the spaces between spaces to do what they had become known for.... keeping the balance of light and dark fae...
"No, none of my family live in this country." She replied finally. It was true really, though to be fair they did not live in any country. They lived in a place of darkness where they were the only light. It was the nature of things, they needed the balance of light and dark to be exact to retain their true power and true forms. It was one reason that she was not supremely powerful like most void fae, despite retaining many weaker versions of the powers she would normally have had. Meant to be a queen she should have been able to move worlds when it was needed, but so long on the mortal plain left her far closer to mortal then any eclipse fae would be. Unlike most she could even die, despite her eternal youth.

Vivian looked towards the woman almost sadly. She had no family here? Vivian couldn't imagine not being near her family. Even though she worked during almost every waking moment, her family was everything to her. She wondered if the woman had many friends here either.
Without thinking about it or even wondering how the woman might react, Vivan locked arms with her and smiled. "We're almost there now," she said, "It's that building there." She was pointing her light at a tall building, one of the tallest buildings in the area. A building of condos that sat atop a restaurant. In the early mornings, the top of the building could not even be seen through the cloud cover.
As Vivian looked up at it, she felt much worry. On multiple levels there appeared to be fire blazing out of various windows. Some people were rushing out of the building with loved ones and prized possessions held close. Immediately Vivian released Ziya.
In the next moment she was gone, rushing inside the building shining her light in the faces of those retreating as she searched for her brother. She pushed her way inside and to the stairs. Vivian fought her way up nine stories before she began feeling sick with worry. Why hadn't she passed Jacob yet? She tried calming herself. Probably he wasn't home, that's all.
Vivian knew that wasn't true. Jacob was always home on this night of the week playing poker with his two best friends, Mark and Tony. She pushed forward until she reached the 38th story of over fifty. This was Jacobs level. Vivian's legs felt like rubber and she made a mental note to up her cardio routine. She was exhausted and her curly red hair strayed about her face.
She made her way to Jacobs door and stood before it. "Jacob?" she called. Surely he wouldn't still be here, if he had been here. She reached down and grabbed the door handle and it burned her hand. Adrenaline and pain coursed through her. She shined her flashlight up at the top of the door. Smoke seeped from the tiny crack between the door and the jam.
"Jacob!" Vivian yelled as she grabbed the door handle again, not caring that it was burning the flesh from her palm. The door swung open and hit something in the floor. Vivian shined her light on it with her hand that wasn't burnt and gasped. It was Tony. Tears filled her eyes and she shined the light into the living room. Smoke threw her into a coughing fit. The room was a death trap.
"Jacob!" she yelled again and moved inside. It wouldn't be long before she came across the bodies of Mark and her own dear brother. She fell to her knees at Jacob's side coughing and crying as she cradled him in her arms. Her little brother, her poor little brother, how could this have happened? Little did she know a group of night workers had cut a gas line when the electricity went out and those who lit candles in the dark had started these fires. Jacob had been one of them and not realizing the situation at hand, didn't realize they needed to flee the apartment rather than stop the fire...
((*yawns* Sorry I got a little carried away. That happens when I'm tired and have some time on my hands. Nighty night y'all.))

"I wonder if you'll hate me now... but I can't just stand here and do nothing. Besides I owe you a favor so it won't be breaking the rules to act...." Said a quiet voice behind her as they entered the building. She pushed her flashlight into her bag and soon held up her hands. She closed her eyes and whispered an ancient chant that soon had her ring transformed into a massive halberd with a crescent moon shaped blade. It looked like it should be too heavy for such a slight figure to lift but she held it aloft easily. Her ears and wings appear, their glow filling the darkness. On closer inspection it would be clear that despite their rather solid seeming structure they were in fact made of dark blue and white light that filled the area easily.
She raised the halberd and would slice towards one source of flames, saying another chat. What looked like a blob of darkness would swallow the fire, englulfing it and absorbing its energy until the fire was put out. She continued the motions, moving faster then any human should to try and put out the more dangerous places of fire until the building was safe to escape. It would not last long, even as she absorbed the smoke into herself, as the building had already been to damaged to stay stable but it would buy the humans time to escape.
As she finally reached the other woman she could feel the building already begin to creak and rumble. For her it mattered little, she could fly but for vivian it was another matter. Sure she could carry vivian but there were others still trying to escape and the simple fact that she doubted vivian would let her touch her. She took a deep breath and spun in a circle, making a black filmy line that would rise and soon form a black disk of void energy which she soon had wrapped around the various supports, like some giant tentical monster was holding up the building as she held her halberd aloft to hold it up. She fell to one knee, knowing that the energy of the fire had given her a power boost but to summon this much void energy to support such a big building was not something she could keep up long.
"Get out of here vivian! I can't hold this long! Your brother would not want you to die here needlessly I'm sure. Please, head for the bar. I wouldn't trust most of the magic folk but there is a white haired woman with a golden stone on her forehead. She is a unicorn of some kind, a thing of purity and healing. You can trust her. Please, Just go!" She shouted from the hallway, the glow of her wings seeming to dim slightly from the strain only to glow brighter once more as she focused. She closed her eyes, taking deep slow breaths. She could do this, just a few minutes longer. She could sense the small bits of energy that was the power of the various human souls escaping... If she could just keep this up a few minutes longer... Just a few minutes longer. This became her mantra as she focused her senses, even as her eyes grew blurry...

"It's called electricity." That was Feori's only verbal reply to the white one's words, already he sounded very tired. He almost wished there had been more potions, but finally those involved in the car accidents had all been taken care of. Once they were, the white woman had headed towards the hospital, and Feori followed. He still moved as if he were in a trance, it was just far easier to do that than thinking right now.
Soon things seemed to settle into a routine with the injured at the bar and a few nurses helping with their medicines. Feori helped where he could, where the human medicines couldn't. Eventually though, the tiring unicorn found his way to a corner, somewhat secluded from everyone else in the bar. His heart still ached, the lost innocence hurt so much, and he wasn't sure if such pain would ever go away. It had to eventually though, right? Feori had been standing with his back to the corner but now he was sitting, with his knees hugged to his chest and the light of his fiery horn seeming somehow diminished some. It certainly wasn't as bright as when he had first started, but it hadn't completely stopped glowing either.
Feori yawned, such work was tiring. He lifted his eyes some, wondering how it was his white cousin was so strong. She seemed to have so much power and stamina, he couldn't even begin to guess her age. He must seem like nothing more than a baby in her eyes. Feori shook his head. Edryd. His thoughts circled around to that corrupted fae. Would Edryd contact him, and what other things did the fae have planned? Feori grunted lightly. He still wasn't sure what he should do, shouldn't he be destroying these humans instead of helping them? Wasn't he supposed to be seeking vengeance?
He put his head in his hands, his fingers gently brushing against his horn. It was a tool of healing, but it's point was very sharp. It could be a weapon as well. So what was he supposed to be then, a healer, a fighter? Both? Should he truly be fighting against the humans or should he be protecting them from the things that wished them harm? He grit his teeth and closed his eyes. "They deserve this...don't they?" He spoke the words quietly to no one in particular and sounding very uncertain.

Adamaris moved as directed, reaching into vehicles and doing her best to rescue those she could. They were lucky in a way, since this area of the city had seen the worst of it and there were people there to help. She heard some nurses speaking together as she brought people into the bar, converted into a bustling emergency hospital, wondering how they would get word to the doctors they knew were on leave and how they would get news of their regular patients without leaving their new post. Hearing this, the Siren frowned before smiling and offering them a way to communicate with the hospital and the other doctors wherever they might be.
She placed a scrying bowl before the astounded nurses and explained that all they would need to do was imagine those wanted to speak with and then simply to speak. The water inherent in oxygen would allow communication on both sides, no matter that there was only one party doing the scrying. It was a type of magic anyone could do, given the chance or need. There were some who had the knack for it, and they were soon sending messages across space and water which helped the organization of the whole operation much better then it had been when there was no set way of communicating with far off places.
With that task done, Ada surveyed the rest of the bar with a soft sigh. Soon she had exhausted her supplies of potions trying to aid the worst of the cases she could see. Her abilities of healing weren't the best, but perhaps there was something else she could do? She shook her head and moved to tug lightly at the sleeve of the white haired woman who'd begun to organize the bar into something else, but stopped herself. The unicorn woman seemed far too busy taking care of patients at the moment to want to be bothered by a Siren with no idea what to do.
It was then that her roving eyes fell upon one of their group slumped dejectedly in a corner all alone. Moving swiftly across the floor, the siren moved to peer at him with a hopeful smile. "Don't be discouraged, we can do this! Here ... I know something that might help." With that Adamaris launched into a soothing song filled with an undercurrent of hope which she concentrated on using to try and boost the unicorn's mood and rid him of fatigue. That much she could do, and perhaps some of the effects she was projecting might help the patients as well.

Feori looked up when he heard someone approach him. It was the girl that had shoved potions into his hands earlier. Feori ran his hand up his spiral horn for a moment, then the horn vanished. Giving him the appearance of a normal human once again. The unicorn watched the siren intently for a few moments, he hadn't been listening to her words so it took him a few moments to realize she was speaking and a few moments. Feori tilted his head slightly and sighed softly.
Discouraged? Feori was not discouraged, he was tired and confused. Even more so confused by this woman. Why was she attending to him instead of those who truly needed her assistance? Still her song did help his fatigue somewhat, and perhaps it was helping the others. Slowly Feori stood. "You should stay away from me, I might cause you to get hurt." He ran a hand through his hair and started to walk away, maybe it was time to speak with Edryd, but Feori had no idea where to find the fae. He inhaled deeply, giving a sweeping look over the bar, an unreadable look in his eyes as he watched the white one for a moment, and then he was stepping outside.

As Vivian cradled her dear little brother a light entered the room. It was brighter than a flashlight... She looked up through smoke and tears, clinging tighter to Jacob. It was Ziya? The woman had wings now. Vivian watched as Ziya summoned some, thing, to hold the building together just as it had begun rumbling.
She'd been staring in a sort of angry amazement when Ziya yelled at her to get out of the building. And leave her brother? She guessed it didn't matter now. She choked back another sob and felt the building creak again. She was on her feet now coughing and running towards the door, eyes burning from the smoke.
She didn't stop running until she was on ground level, which took a lot less time than it had climbing up the stairs. Vivian ran out onto the street and stopped, still coughing and gasping for air. She turned around to face the building. In this dark she could hardly make out the thing Ziya had summoned to hold up the building, at that was probably because she knew it was there.
Had Ziya purposely hid her true identity from her to trick her? Her bag slid from her shoulder reminding her that it was still there. She pulled her minicam from it's place in her purse, flipped it open and pointed it at the building. "Vivian Blake," she started, "some time after 10:00 p.m., the Sky Reach Condo building. It seems to have caught fire in various places inside weakening the integrity of the building. Everyone, who survived the fires, has escaped."
Her voice had weakened and quivered at that last statement as she thought of Jacob, and Mark and Tony. "A woman with bright wings is inside, holding the building up somehow." As pieces of the building began to fall off Vivian left her video clip at that, shutting it off and putting it into her purse. She moved across the street, instead of running towards the "unicorn" woman. None of these magical beings could be trusted and she was raised to believe that.
Not even Ziya. They all had their own agenda, all had ulterior motives. But what were Ziya's? She stood there staring up at the building still partly angry at the woman and also curious. If the building came down she would have no choice but to run and/hide before the bits of the building crushed or engulfed her. Part of her was staying to see if Ziya made it out, though she wouldn't ever admit that. If the woman didn't make it, perhaps she would seek out her magical friends to come back and help her dig Ziya from the rubble. Perhaps. Though another thing she would not so freely admit. But Ziya had saved her life after all, and probably many others as well.

Mia glanced towards the siren as she sang but only nodded in approval. It would calm and soothe the confused humans while she tried to figure out what to do. Getting them out of the city seemed wise but she doubted many of them had places to go... and if they did go they would bring back soldiers likely who would not see the difference between good and bad, only human and not. It would be easy for her to hide, as long as her ethereal looks did not surprise them to much and her white hair was not too unusual. She'd seen humans with unnatural hair in the club so some easy dying process outside magic had likely been discovered as she'd slept... but others might not have it so easy. Especially since many beings could only use their powers in their true form. She shook her head at the thought only to see her darker 'cousin' start to slip out the door. With a frown she half walked, half glided to him and caught his elbow at the door just as he went to step outside...
"If you go to him.... he will use you like a pawn and he will hurt you. I will not be able to protect you young one...... even if you call the name mia to the winds and they find me, it may not be in time. Still, the choice is yours and yours alone as i said..." She warned him softly and gave him the simplest way to call her. Mia was not her true name, but she had held many names throughout history and even she was not sure of her real name anymore. The playful wind had nicknamed her mia so this was the one she answered to. She turned away then and released him, heading to continue what she had been doing before without another glance. He would choose his own path, there was nothing more to do now. She had given her advice as called and healed who she could. Now she could only sit in a chair after one last healing and close her eyes a moment, feeling only tired and empty.
"I knew you'd hate me.... but I couldn't let you die..." Ziya said softly as she fell to her knees, her voice carrying out to the stairs. Her vision swam and tenticals reached out of the blackness to grab her, as if the void itself wished to consume her. It was the risk that all void fay ran, to be consumed by their own power and their life force swallowed. With a cry of pain she swung her weapon and the void closed and disappeared, barely saving herself in time as the building began to collapse. Breathing in the smoke was not much different then breathing in the void back home she thought absently, feeling the weakness in her body from the void's reach. If not for her halberd she would not be able to stand or make it through the window before the building collapsed.
At first she flew but her magic had been two weakened. About halfway down the light of her wings seemed to disappear, crumbling like dust into the night air and she began to fall. She landed with a sickening thud, a whimper of pain escaped her. She was probably far away enough the building was not going to kill her as it fell but it wouldn't have mattered really. She was too weak to move. The void had stolen too much of her energy when she lost control in those few seconds, she could only lie there and try to ignore the twinges of pain through out her body from the fall. She did not expect that Vivian would have stayed behind so she closed her eyes, telling herself it would be okay.... somehow as she clung to consciousness desperately and one hand stayed closed around her weapon that she was momentarily too weak to lift.

Maldue had taken the opportunity to ensconce himself far away from any location he thought might be easily be found. He knew there were those out there who would do everything in their power to cut off the head of the beast who had attacked the city. Smiling to himself with a strange light in his amethyst eyes, he settled more comfortably upon his couch and lifted a replica of the mirror he'd given to Feori and his other followers. Of course .... he was still unsure of his newest recruit.
He spoke briefly with some of his followers, ascertaining the state of affairs within the city and directing them to try and take key points of the place. All the exits were in the process of being blocked by a rag tag group of fae, and even humans who had joined the group for various reasons of their own. They would stay safe for aiding Maldue, as long as they didn't become a threat to him and the supernatural community he sought vengeance for.
Once those tasks were done, he sighed softly before using the mirror to try and connect with the unicorn he had recruited none too long ago. " Mstislav, answer me. Have you changed your mind? I hope not; not when things are going so well." A hint of the pollution madness truly driving his mind made the fae's features wilder then they should have been as he glanced down at the mirror's rippling surface. Shapes and forms flitted about, but nothing was yet in focus because the other mirror hadn't been lifted in response yet.
