"Well Ari never wanted me." Marreck laughed as he continued to juggle before cracking a few of the eggs into a bowl. "I had to do something with my time." He winked over his shoulder before beginning to cook the waffles and pancakes.
Emelaide chuckled as she gently caressed her stomach, "Well, it was a good thing Ari never wanted you, for now I get to keep you and your talents all to myself," she added with a wink.
Dimeria smiled up at Marreck, "Ria stir?" |
"Of course." Marreck smiled as he handed Dimeria the bowl with the mix for the french toast and a sppon. "Go for it." He winked as he began to flip the pancakes before looking over his shoulder at the two Winter Elves. "Then I guess I should thank Dimitrius for breaking my heart by stealing away Ariala." He teased before turning back to the food.
Ria stirred the mixture happily, part of it sloshing out of the bowl and onto Marreck's arm as well as the floor, somehow managing to keep it off herself.
"Ria, love. Slow down or Em will have nothing to eat. Stir carefully, love," Dimitrius chided softly with a chuckle, smiling as Ria did as she as asked. Turning back to Marreck, Dimitrius grinned, "Aye, but you got Emelaide out of the deal, did you not? Not to mention a set of twins. Surely those alone are enough to heal a broken heart and are worth all the pain in the world." Blushing, Emelaide lightly slapped Dimitrius's arm before caressing her stomach once more, "Stop it.. You're thinking too highly of me as usual. But you are right about the twins and Marreck, in my case anyway. They were definitely worth losing you. I truly must thank Ariala for getting lost one day," she added softly as she looked at her future husband, adoration and love emanating from her eyes as her cheeks glowed lightly with a blush of pink. |
Marreck smiled warmly as he moved to Emelaide's side and gave her a tender kiss before placing a hand over her stomach. "Definetely worth it." He smiled devilishly before moving back to the food and preparing raisin bread to be cooked. "Though Erreminette certainly got the short stick." He laughed softly and a bit sadly. "She got frozen and then everyone started pairing off." He sighed, shaking his head.
Dimitrius chuckled at Marreck's last statement, "Aye, but it did her good not to find a Winter Elf so soon. She met someone in her training classes. I believe they had a date last night, after our picnic. Not sure how it went, but surely it went well."
Emelaide blushed, "Well, it's good she's found someone. I doubt she ever will forgive me for freezing her.." |
"Probably not." Marreck shrugged. "Erre's one for the grudges." He laughed as he took the bowl from Dimeria and began dipping toast before setting it in a pan to cook. Taking a plate from the cupboards, Marreck placed a stack of pancakes on it before setting Dimeria back on the floor. "Can you take this over to Em?" He asked warmly as he held out the plate for her.
"Marreck?" Erreminette's voice came through the window as she and Ariala appeared in the window. "Ready to-" She started before looking around the kitchen, pointedly ignoring Emelaide. "Oh." Ariala said quietly. "Are we meeting you there?" She asked, giving Dimitrius a warm smile before turning back to Marreck. "Yeah, I'll be down in a bit." Marreck smiled as he stood back up. "Let you guys get all your girl talk out of the way." He teased. "We'll save some for you, I promise." Erreminette laughed, never looking at Emelaide. "Now stp making googly eyes and lets go." Erreminette teased as she linked their arms and led her way from the window. |
Emelaide smiled as she thanked Dimeria and took the plate from her. The moment Dimeria's hands were free, she ran back to Marreck and hugged his leg as she waited for her next job.
Sighing, she stood and got the syrup from the icebox and went back tot he table. Using her magic to warm it up, Emelaide poured it over her pancakes and eagerly dug in. "Em, just ignore Erre. Don't let her feud with you ruin your mood. Just think, Marreck's making you this grand breakfast. And after, you get to stuff yourself with cookies," encouraged Dimitrius. |
"That's right." Marreck said as he smiled down at the young elf before giving her a stack of waffles to bring to the table. Moving over to Emelaide, Marreck gave her temple a tender kiss. "She'll probably come around eventually. She's not a big fan of being frozen." He teased before moving back to the stove and beginning to cook the french toast.
Emelaide sighed as she pushed back the empty plate and took the plate of waffles from Dimeria with a somewhat forced smile, who quickly ran back to Marreck and hugged his leg once more.
Propping her chin up with her fist, her elbow resting beside her plate, Emelaide buttered them and poured syrup over them as well before picking at it, "I know.. but.. It's just.. I don't see how I'm the only one at fault! She began the argument, which resulted in my temper skyrocketing beyond control, causing my magic to act accordingly. I didn't purposefully try to kill her. Is that all you all see me as? A heartless homicidal maniac?" Putting her fork down, Emelaide sighed as she stood from the table. "I'm not hungry.. You guys can help yourselves. I'm really not up to seeing Lina today, I'll visit her tomorrow. Please give her my apology," she said softly before heading to the bedroom and shutting the door behind her. After putting her earrings away, Emelaide changed into one of Marreck's T-shirts and a pair of her lounging pants and climbed into bed. - Dimitrius sighed as he watched Emelaide go to the bedroom, "She really does feel terrible about what happened to Erreminette. I only wish Erre could see it." Dimeria, patiently waiting for another way to help Marreck, didn't notice Emelaide leave nor did she hear what was being said. She was too focused on the french toast and the plate she would get to carry. |
Mareck smiled sadly as he saw the younger elf watching the food eagerly. Putting the toast on a plate, Marreck handed them to Dimeria before walking past the table and towards the bedroom. "We'll be back." He smiled softly before entering the room and walking over to the bed, having seen Emelaide curled beneath the covers.
"No one sees you as a maniac." Marreck assured her as he slipped under the covers with her and wrapped his arms around Emelaide. "Erre's known for holding grudges. She'll get over it eventually." He promised as he rested his face in her hair. "Everything's alright, Em." He said as he stroked her sides gently with his thumbs. |
Sighing, Emelaide shook her head as she pulled the covers over her head, "No.. she won't. She'll never be civil to me. I'll go on as if I've never existed for all eternity, I just know it. At least Ariala can be civil and not be cruel to my face. I just wish Erreminette would do the same.. Forget it, it's nothing to lose sleep over.. She's not worth getting upset over," Emelaide said angrily as she burred her face in the pillow, completely frustrated by the fact that Erreminette pointedly disliking her was effecting her so much. Perhaps it was because she was Marreck's best friend? Or perhaps it was because deep down in side, Emelaide knew that if her children looked anything like her, Erreminette would surely hate them due to being constantly reminded of Emelaide and what she had done.
"Em." Marreck chided as he moved the blankets from over Emelaide's head and gave her cheek a swift kiss. "Erre is scorned, not unreasonable." He explained carefully as he shaped his body to mold Emelaide's. "She'll get over it soon. She just has a bit of a temper. I guess she's kind of like you in that sense." Marreck teased lightly before giving her cheek another kiss. "Everything is going to be fine, I promise." He said.
Emelaide sighed as she linked her fingers through his. "Marreck, you're just saying that and you know it. Besides, you can't promise it.. It's nothing to do with you.. It's between me, Erreminette, and our twins," she whispered softly into the pillow.
"Our twins?" Marreck asked, confused. "I don't understand what our children have to do with this but I know Erreminette and I know she'll get over it eventually. But I do think you should apologize somehow. Sure you guys were fighting but she never used her magic against you." He offered.
"Our twins have everything to do with it. I couldn't care less if she hated my guts. I've never cared for her but I put up with her for your sake since she is your best friend. But since she's your friend and I'm having your children.. I'm afraid that if they look like me or she sees myself in any way in them, she'll hate them due to the constant reminder of me and what I did before.. I don't want them to suffer her glares and such. I can put up with them, I'm used to girls hating me. I was dating the future King of Winterglade, after all. In a small town like ours, the hate travels around pretty quickly. I'm just afraid she'll be standoffish to our twins.. I don't want that happening.. I'll do anything to prevent it.. Even if it means apologizing to her," she added softly.
"Em." Marreck said, rolling his eyes playfully. "Erreminette is not going to hate our twins just because you froze her in at the waterfall. Have you seen Dimitrius or Dimeria for that matter? They both look like you in the sense that your Winter Elves but she doesn't hold grudges against either of them. And Erreminette would never hate our children. She's my best friend, she's wise enough to know otherwise." He promised. "If you're going to apologize then I think it'd be better to apologize because your truly sorry rather then for our twins' sakes." He said.
Emelaide sighed, "I shouldn't have to apologize. Is it my fault my magic acts on emotion? She should have fought back. Is it my fault she didn't because she knew she'd never win the fight? Is it my fault she chose to fight with a Winter Elf who's talent was temperature? Besides.. I didn't mean for it to go that low.. That was my magic's doing.. I only wished for her to catch a cold.. not nearly freeze..."
"Even so." Marreck explained. "She didn't know her magic and she only used her words and that temper of her's to upset you. Even if you didn't mean to freeze her you still tried to hurt her and that's still something you should apologize for." Marreck reminded as he caressed her cheek gently.
Emelaide sighed as she shifted so that she was laying on her back and looking up at the ceiling, "Perhaps.. But I don't see why I should be the only one to apologize. She shouldn't have said those things. It wasn't her place."
"And it wasn't your place to react by fighting her." Marreck explained. "If they'd heard you talking about Ariala from across the border they wouldn't have come looking for you and attack you. Erre was only trying to make Ariala feel better because she sensed how Ariala felt about Dimitrius." He explained carefully.
"Just forget it.." Emelaide said helplessly as she turned away from him and moved so that they weren't touching, "You'll always side with her.. Just forget I said anything, please.. I'll have dinner ready when you get back."
"I'm not siding with her, Emelaide." Marreck sighed before taking a deep breath and moving over to Emelaide to wrap his arms around her. "I love you. But I think you took things to far by fighting with her and trying to hurt her no matter how little of your magic you intended to use. Erreminette shouldn't have fought with you when you confronted them. They should've walked away. But Erreminette's not like that and neither are you. I only think you should apologize because you'll feel better about it afterwards." He explained as he rested his chin on her shoulder.
"You are siding with her, and you know it," Emelaide whispered with a sigh. Shrugging him off, Emelaide slid out of the bed and wrapped her arms around her stomach, her back turned to Marreck. "Marreck, just forget it.. I'm not going to fight about it with you. I'm not apologizing for my actions until she apologizes for what she did. You'd better go get something to eat, you'll be late if you don't hurry," she added as she pulled her hair back into a clip she took from her small vanity.
"Em, that's not fair." Marreck sighed as he climbed out of bed and walked behind her, putting his arms around her stomach. "If you'd been talking with one of your friends and Erreminette had shown up and attacked you would want her to apologize. You're being stubborn." He sighed, defeated, as he rested his chin on her shoulder. "If you don't want to apologize then why did you storm in here when she ignored you? Clearly you're feeling some remorse. You couldn't have almost killed her, even if it was an accident, and not feel guilty about it."
