Dimitrius eyed Ariala, "What's wrong."
Cindalina, noticing a bit of tension, excused herself with her tea and headed off in the direction of her bedroom on the pretense of fetching a finished outfit for Ariala. |
"What are you talking about?" Ariala said, looking up at Dimitrius.
|
"You know what I'm talking about. Your short, curt responses, your over all presence, there's something on your mind and it's troubling you, which in turn is worrying me. Please tell me what it is, love, maybe I can help?"
|
"Its nothing I haven't expressed before." Ariala said, turning to face the fire. "I hate making you go through this drama. Its unfair for you to deal with." She turned away from Dimitrius, biting her tongue against the rest of what she wanted to say. He was probably sick of her insecurities by now and the last thing she wanted to do was add to the drama that he was going through for her.
|
Dimitrius sighed as he walked over to her, picked her up, and sat down with her on his lap. Wrapping his arms around her waist, he nuzzled his nose against her neck as he pulled her close, "Ari.. please don't tell me you're considering what I think you're considering..."
|
"I hate seeing you go through this." Ariala said, resting her head against his. "How have you even put up with me this long?"
Ariala brought her hand to his neck, gently running her fingers the length of his neck. How anyone as perfect as Dimitrius loved someone like her was behind her knowledge. |
Kissing her neck gently he murmured, "I'm not putting up with anyone. I adore you, obviously more than you realize. No matter what we go through, it's worth it as long as I am able to call you mine. I love you, Ariala, and there's no one on this planet that I'd rather be with than you, don't you realize that?"
------- Emelaide sighed as she sat on the roots of a tree near the Elimlee border. Wiping her eyes, she looked out across the landscape as the sun set, "Maybe if I were more like Ariala - beautiful, vibrant, full of life and coolor - maybe then I'd find someone to love me.." |
"Oh Dimitrius." Ariala said, pulling him against her. "I love you so much." She kissed his lips gently and rested her forehead against his own. "Let's just stay in this moment forever." She suggested with a coy smile.
~-~-~ Marreck walked through the meadow, clearing his head from guilt of how badly Ariala would be hurt the next day. He heard a voice nearby and followed the sound til he saw Emelaide sitting in her own personal hell. "Hey." He said, sitting beside her. |
Dimitrius smiled as he placed a tender kiss upon her lips and teased, "Mm, but if we stayed here, wouldn't that mean missing your lesson with the Master tomorrow? Surely you wouldn't want to stay with me and miss that."
--------- Emelaide wiped her eyes as she turned away from Marreck, not wanting anyone to witness her moment of weakness, "Oh, Hi Marreck. What brings you to the border?" |
"Its very tempting." Ariala said, curling her hand from his neck to wrap around and into his hair.
~-~-~ "Clearing my head." Marreck said then ducked his head to pick at the grass. "Feeling a little guilty about tomorrow. I hate seeing Ariala upset." |
Dimitrius chuckled as he pulled her in for a tender kiss, "Mm, I'm tempted to keep kidnap you myself and spend the day lost, what say you?"
Cindalina, not noticing the intimate setting the couple had created in her absence, smiled as she brought in the outfit, "Here it is! Come, child, try this on and make sure it fits." Dimitrius chuckled, not loosening his embrace a bit, "Auntie, must she try it on now?" "Yes, yes of course! You two can get back to being cuddly in a moment. I wish to see this on her before she leaves." ---------------- Emelaide shook her head, her voice quivering as she held back her tears as she practically spoke to the tree, not allowing herself to cry in front of him nor allow him to see her tear-stained face, "I can't do it. I-I just can't. I can't do that to Dimitrius, it'll hurt him too much to lose her like that. Maybe we should reconsider and try another tactic.." |
Ariala wriggled out of his lap and took the outfit. She moved behind the corner and pulled on the outfit from the book she had picked out only a few days before.
Ariala moved out so that Dimitrius would see the very warm white tights and pink skirt with a white blouse. "Like it?" Ariala asked. ~-~-~ "I understand." Marreck said. He moved closer to her, putting his arm around her shoulders. "Its okay." He said, his voice soothing. "I know how you feel." He said with a grim smile. |
Dimitrius smiled as his eyes moved from head to toe and back to lock with her eyes, "Aye, you look beautiful. Much warmer than the outfit you came here with."
Cindalina smiled as she picked up the tea things, "Good, does it fit well, child? Are you satisfied with it? Any alterations necessary?" --------- Emelaide, breaking her resolve, collapsed against his chest, one hand clutching his side while the other clutched the front of his shirt. Tears falling down her cheeks, Emelaide sniffled, "Why are you being so kind to me? You don't even like Winter Elves.." |
Ariala smiled at the elder elf. "No, it fits perfectly." She said. She twirled once, letting the skirt fan out. "I love it."
~-~-~ "That's not true." Marreck said, wrapping his arms around the crying elf. "I don't like one Winter Elf." He rubbed her back, soothingly. "Don't think that the attitude I have for Dimitrius is the same for every Winter Elf. In fact, I'm envious of you Emelaide." He confessed, still carressing her back in an attempt to calm her. |
Cindalina grinned, beaming with joy, "I'm glad to hear it. I had time to alter the other outfits if you'd like those as well, I'll set to work on another new outfit tomorrow."
Still smiling, she carried the tea things to the kitchen to wash them and put them away. Dimitrius chuckled, "Your the first to be perfectly happy with her creations, she's loving you already. Soon she'll try to take you under her wing and teach you how to make the outfits on top of actually cooking with her." ------------ Emelaide laughed a short, mocking laugh, "Oh really. What's to be envious of? I'm an elf who can't control her magic and keep her emotions separate from it. I'm simply a disaster waiting to happen who cries far too easily. Besides, I'm really not that great so you have nothing to envy. I mean, if I were actually worth something I wouldn't have been brushed aside like last weeks newspaper so quickly like I was. Sure, I probably wasn't the best girlfriend and had my moments where my temper got the best of me, but don't we all have our faults? Surely that's not a reason to simply take one look at another girl and drop me like a used tissue." Wiping her tears away from her cheeks, she blushed as she quickly moved out of his embrace and leaned against the tree, facing the opposite direction, "Forgive me, I didn't mean to break apart like that and say such things." |
"Oh boy, needles. Now that is a disaster just waiting to happen." Ariala said with a wink.
~-~-~ "Do you remember when you said that Ariala rejected me for Dimitrius?" Marreck asked sheepishly. "That's not exactly true. You see Ariala does'nt know that I love her. Not the faintest idea. You have years worth of memories of knowing that Dimitrius loved you back and that's something I'll never have with Ariala." Marreck shook his head in disbelief. "The irony of the situation is that I was going to tell Ariala that I love her in a few days. The elves were planning a clear sky and a full moon and I was going to take her for a walk. I had it all planned exactly what I was going to say and then I didn't." Marreck felt a sting of tears but fought against them. "I was only a few nights away from telling the girl I love how I felt and she fell for Dimitrius." |
Dimitrius chuckled as he teased, "Aye, that it will be. But don't worry, I'll bandage all the wounds you give yourself with tenderness and love."
---------------- Emelaide couldn't help but smile at the poor boy, "Sounds like you have really bad timing. Why don't you tell her? Don't say 'Ariala, I love you. Leave Dimitrius and be with me!'. But say, 'Ariala, I need to tell you this before I regret it. I know we can't be together and you've found someone you love with all your heart, but I need to tell you this once and for all so I can move on knowing that I told you everything. I love you more than you can possibly imagine, Ariala. Please forgive my bad timing and for not telling you sooner.' And after you've told her, see how she reacts. Maybe something will spark. If not, at least you can try and move on, right? And if you can't, well, we've still got our sabotage scheme!" she added with a soft laugh as she looked up at the stars now appearing in the sky above them. |
"I'm sure you will." Ariala said, twirling once more before sitting down beside him.
~-~-~ "No. Ariala's happy, my confession would make things hard for her because she'd feel guilty about hurting me. She's to caring for her own good." Marreck said, leaning back in the grass to gaze at the stars. |
Smiling he wrapped his arms around her and kissed her forehead, "I'm glad you're feeling better, love. I hate seeing you so upset. Would you like me to walk you home after Auntie gets your outfits for you? Or would you rather stay a bit longer?"
--------------- Scowling, Emelaide shoved snow in her face and began rubbing hard to wash her face clear of tears. Wiping her face with her sleeve she sighd, "She sounds so perfect.. now wonder I can't compete.. how could anyone compete with someone such as she. In comparison to her, we're all horribly flawed and selfish.." |
"Well, that depends." Ariala said, gazing up at Dimitrius. "When are you going to get sick of me?" She asked playfully.
~-~-~ "And Dimitrius is such a prize." Marreck said with an eye roll. "I've known Ariala all my life. And yes she's beautiful and there's many great qualities about her but that doesn't make everyone else pale in comparison. I may hate Dimitrius but I would never want to be him in order to have Ariala's affection. I want her to love me for me just as you should want Dimitrius to love you for you." Marreck sighed, sitting back up. "You're unique as you and if Dimitrius doesn't see that then perhaps you should be with someone who does." He said then shook his head at his own blindness. "Just as I should with Ariala." |
Dimitrius chuckled as his nosed brushed against hers. "Never," he said simply before placing a tender kiss upon her lips, "When shall you be sick of me?"
--------------- Emelaide couldn't help but laugh as she playfully nudged Marreck in the side, "I think if I weed through that, I might have just heard a compliment directed towards me." With a light sigh, she leaned back against the trunk of the tree, "Maybe you're right.. maybe I really should try and move on. But how am I to do that? No one sees me as more than 'Dimitrius's girlfriend', it's what I've been nearly all my life. And if I wasn't his girlfriend, I was the one he was after so no one dared look at me as more than a friend or a sister. Now that we're through.. no one knows how to react when they see me except to think 'Poor Emelaide, they were so perfect for one another. They surely would have been engaged soon if it hadn't been for that young girl from Elimlee. How will Emelaide get through this? Who will date her now? She's been unavailable for as long as anyone can remember, surely things will be rough now that she's available!'" Sighing, she pulled her knees close to her, "Gossip's a bitch, isn't it? They aren't even interested in wanting to date me, they're only interested in trying to see who can be the first to pull one over on Dimitrius and get what he never could." Blushing, she quickly changed the conversation, "But you don't need to hear about my pathetic sob story. How do you plan to move on from Ariala? You've loved her for so long.. Surely you can't give up that easily on her." |
"Never." Ariala said, wrapping her arms around his sides and pulling herself onto his lap. "Now that I have my clothes does this mean that you're going to give me the tour of Winterglade?" She asked.
~-~-~ "Of course I can't just be over her right away. I still love her but I love her enough to know that she deserves to be happy just as I do. And I'm not happy feeling like this." He said with a sigh, then looked at Emelaide. "And not everyone knows you as Dimitrius' girlfriend. You have a beauty that comes from the inside that is more powerful then a simple label of a past relationship." He said, oblivious to how forward he sounded. |
Dimitrius chuckled as he gently patted her thigh, "You want a tour of Winterglade at night? You won't be able to see anything, love. But yes, the next day you have off I'll devote it to a tour of Winterglade if that is what you wish."
-------------- Emelaide playfully rolled her eyes as she chuckled softly, "Fine, let me rephrase. Everyone in Winterglade knows me by that title; other Kingdoms' don't count because no one, with the exception of the blessed couple we've been speaking off, cares about anyone outside their Elven Seasonal Race." As for beauty," she continued with a sigh as she turned her face away from him, "I have no form of beauty. Sure, I've got a beautiful face and a petite body, but what does that matter when your temper is as terrible as mine and your magic runs wild with your emotions. You don't understand how many people fear me because my talent is temperature and they know what I'm capable of. Dimitrius was the only one who ventured to look past it and was the one who saved me from complete social scorn. Now that he's gone.. I've got nothing but my parents, and even they aren't around much for they only see me as a way to further themselves in the castle. They hope to marry me off to a higher stationed elf with the lure of my magic. Nothing like being sold to the highest bidder now that Dimitrius has lost interest," she added with a bitter laugh. |
"Yay." Ariala said excitedly. She moved her forehead against Dimitrius' and gave him a small kiss. "I can't wait."
~-~-~ "I'm afraid you don't see yourself clearly." Marreck said, glancing at the Winter Elf. "You let others' opinions cloud how you see yourself and if you believed in yourself the way Dimitrius did then others would see it as well. If you have confidence in yourself you'll be suprised how others will react." He said, then smiled at her. "But you're right, you do have a nasty temper." |
Dimitrius smiled as he returned her kiss, "Neither can I. I can't wait to show you all my favorite places, you'll love them. I may even be able to bring out the artist in you," he added teasingly.
------------ Emelaide blushed, "What makes you believe such a high opinion of me? You don't even know me. All you know is of my revengeful temper.." |
