"Sure." Ariala said, playfully rolling her eyes. "That's what they all say." She teased, squirming from him tickling her.
~-~-~ "Well considering only Dimitrius and I are in love with Ariala, perhaps you don't know enough men. Maybe that's why you haven't met someone new yet." Marreck said. "Ariala loves Dimitrius over me but I still think I'm pretty awesome." He added with a wink. "You shouldn't put yourself down because of her." |
Emelaide blushed and quickly looked away as she realized what she meant by those words. Trying to pass over it in hopes Marreck hadn't caught on due to hoping to avoid embarrassment, "Y-your right. I don't know a lot of men, but I know enough to be able to see them ogling her and wishing they were with her; it's not something you can easily miss."
-------------- Dimitrius laughed as he tickled her more, "What, you don't believe me? Are you calling me a liar Ariala Gallagher? Why the very nerve!" he teased as he continued to tickle her. |
"Don't be silly." Marreck said, taking her hand in his. "You're a beautiful girl and Ariala doesn't change that."
Then he suddenly dropped her hand. "But uh, back to cards." Marreck said, shuffling the deck and rebuking himself for taking her hand. He wasn't sure what had come over him. He flipped over a ten of hearts and two of spades as well as a king of diamonds for himself. "Twelve. Keep or add?" ~-~-~ "Who me?" Ariala said as innocently as possible between her laughter. |
Emelaide blushed at the sudden rush his hand gave her in that brief moment, "Nonsense. I'm horribly pale and ugly in comparison to her dark beauty. And when I blush, I look like a tomato, while she looks like a desert rose. I'm not beautiful, not in comparison to a Spring Elf. Sure, among my race I may be beautiful.. but that doesn't matter any more... Add."
------ "Yes you!" he laughed as he continued to tickle her and continued to tease, "I don't think I can forgive you for such a statement. What shall your punishment be?" |
"Whoever says that you're not pretty is crazy." Marreck said, forgetting the cards. He looked up at her with a warm smile. "You're beautiful." And he was right, her pale skin was practically glowing and the blush added just enough color.
Then he realized what he had said and nearly jumped back in surprise. What would she think of him? She proably thought he was crazy. And what about Ariala? The questions swarmed in his head like angry bees. "But I think I've made a fool of myself long enough." Marreck said, standing up. The card game was suddenly unimportant. ~-~-~ "Why, I'm just a little Spring Elf who got lost. Certainly I couldn't have done anything wrong." Ariala said giggling, moving her hands to wrap around his neck and pulling him close. "Why would anyone as sweet and innocent as me need to be punished?" She asked through her eyelashes, putting on her most innocent voice. |
Emelaide blushed at his words. "Y-you haven't m-made a fool of yourself," she stammered as she picked up the cards, glancing up at him as she spoke, "not at all. I'm sorry to have forced you to leave so suddenly, it wasn't my intention. I rather liked spending time with you, it was fun. I-I guess I'll see you around sometime, if you don't hate me by now that is."
--------- Dimitrius chuckled as his hands slipped around her waist and pulled her closer, placing a slow, tender kiss upon her lips. "You're so full of it," he teased as he placed another tender kiss upon her lips, "but I think I've found the perfect punishment." |
"Why would you think I hate you?" Marreck asked, having the question join the others that were still swirling in his brain. "I hope to see you again as well."
~-~-~ "Really?" Ariala asked, tilting her head to meet his lips. "And what's that?" |
Looking up at him, she blushed even deeper as their eyes met, and quickly looked away, "B-because I whine and cry so much. Surely you must have gotten annoyed by my constant jealousy of Ariala; why else would you leave so suddenly and be so eager to get away from me if not because you hate me and am annoyed with me?"
------ Dimitrius grinned as he scooped her into his arms and stood up. Darting to the door, he quickly opened it and, before she could protest, plopped Ariala into the nearby snowbank, causing snow to fly all over. Laughing, Dimitrius teased as snow began to dust Ariala, "That." |
"Don't think that." Marreck said, shaking his head at her. "That's completely untrue. In fact I find you...." His voice trailed off, leaving the words unspoken.
~-~-~ Ariala gasped from the sudden cold. "Dimitrius!" She whined though she was still laughing. She stood up and shook the snow off of her. "Now where are your manners?" She teased, bumping her hip into his. |
Looking up at him, she blushed as she stammered, "F-find me what? Wretched? Hateful? Spiteful? Revengeful? Cruel? Take your pick of the words, I'm sure one of them describes what you think of me. I know they all fit me, so don't worry about offending me."
----------- Dimitrius grinned as he wrapped his arms around her waist from behind as they walked back towards the fireplace, "I think I may have lost them. It's possible they're under the bed at home, God only knows what's been lost under there since Emelaide quit cleaning the house for me. Or it's possible they're in the Attic, I've been up there recently." |
"Emelaide..." he said, looking down at the ground. "I don't find you any of those things." He bent down to meet her eyes, slightly distracted by the blush that fit well on her cheeks. He leaned forward and kissed her forehead tenderly.
"I should be going." He said, rebuking himself once again. Obviously she thought he was a creep by now. "Perhaps I shall see you tomorrow to finish our game." He said then turned to walk away. ~-~-~ Ariala rolled her eyes playfully and moved her arm to hit his side. "Such a rude boyfriend. Whatever will I do with you?" She teased. |
Emelaide blushed a bright red as his lips touched her forehead. "W-wait!" Scrambling up, she set the cards on the ground and ran over to Marreck, taking him by the arm and gently pulling him to a stop as she moved to stand in front of him.
Standing on her toes, she placed a gentle, tender kiss upon his lips as she smiled. "You're really sweet, you know that? I'm kind of glad Ariala took Dimitrius, I wouldn't have been able to meet you if she hadn't. So for that, I suppose I owe her thanks for giving me such a kind friend." Blushing, she quickly stepped away, "S-sorry. Tomorrow, yes. If you still wish to play, simply name the time and we shall meet here to play cards again." ------------- Dimitrius chuckled as he placed a soft, gentle kiss on her neck, "Love me I suppose, there's nothing else to be done with me." |
Marreck had trouble hiding his smile. "Until tomorrow." He said, giving her hand a small squeeze and placing another kiss on her forehead before turning back to Elimlee.

Emelaide blushed as a smile crept into her lips and she bit her lower lip to stop from screaming in delight. Before Marreck could walk more than two feet, Emelaide called after him, "Tomorrow at noon! Meet me here and we'll play cards! Remember, the score's four to three, I'm winning!" she added with a laugh as she purposefully reversed their scores, wondering if Marreck would notice.
----------- Dimitrius let go of her and walked over to the couch, spreading out so there was no room for her. "Fine then, we'll just cut our losses and forget everything. You know the way out," he teased as he fake-sulked and clasped his hands behind his head, staring into the fireplace. |
"Liar!" Marreck shouted back, laughing. "I'm winning here."
~-~-~ "You're not getting rid of me that easily." Ariala said, sinking in front of him and placing a tender kiss on his lips. "I love you to much." Then she turned to face the fireplace and rested her head against his chest. "I guess you're just going to have to deal with it." She teased lightly. |
Emelaide laughed, "Sure, sure, for now anyway!"
Grinning, she turned, picked up her cards, and darted back to Winterglade, the temperatures around her going sporadic and changing quickly as they played off her heightened mood. ------------ Dimitrius smiled as he caressed her cheek gently before his hand slipped into her hair and began gently playing with it, "Good. I don't want you to go anywhere unless it's with me." |
"Good." Ariala said, leaning backwards to meet his hand. "I love you Dimitrius." She said, looking sideways at him.

Caressing her cheek with his other hand he smiled down at her and placed a kiss upon her upturned lips, "I love you too, Ariala, much more than you know."
---------- Emelaide smiled as she walked into the house, her magic still being sporadic as she headed into the Dining Room and sat down to dinner with her parents, her smile beaming and her joyous mood dancing across her face Her parents looked at each other in wonder before looking at Emelaide and inquiring, "Emelaide, dear, whatever has gotten you so happy? Has Dimitrius changed his mind and asked you to marry him like he should have long ago?" her father added, a bit of hope emerging into his eyes. Emelaide shook her head, but not saying anything. Her father simply stared at his beloved daughter in wonder, "Then what happened, child. Do not keep your dear father in suspense," added her mother as she served dinner. "Marreck," was Emelaide's only response before she dug into her meal, starved due to not having ate much that day. |
Ariala moved up to meet his lips before settling back onto the floor. "Are you going to make me sit on the floor?" She teased, poking his side.

Dimitrius smiled as he gently tapped her nose and teased, "I'm quite fine right where I am, aren't you love?"
------ "Marreck?" Emelaide's parents both asked in confusion, "What in Antronesia does that mean?" Emelaide took a sip from her goblet, extending the silence a tad, before going into her story of meeting Marreck, editing out the bits about the plot to sabotage Dimitrius and Ariala, "... so therefore he's nothing more than a friend who I'm becoming close to and enjoy being around," Emelaide finished, not daring to admit, not even to herself, that her feelings were growing rather quickly towards Marreck. She herself honestly did not know what possessed her to kiss him as she did, it was simply an impulse decision driven by her emotions and the moment. She sincerely hoped Marreck was not angry with her for being so forward, believing that his tender kisses upon her forehead were simply out of pity and were more from a brotherly-sort-affection rather than something more. |
"Oh yes." Ariala said. "I absolutely love the floor." She joked, rolling her eyes playfully.
~-~-~ "Marreck?" Erreminette called. "Where have you been?" "Just out in the woods." Marreck said, recalling what had happened with Emelaide. "It was a good afternoon." He smiled, know that 'good' was by far an understatement. "What is it with these Winter Elves." Erreminette sighed ."Where can I find one?" |
Dimitrius chuckled as he scooted down so that his feet hung off the opposite end and his head rested on the cushion. Bending forward, he patted the cushion behind him, "Alright them, you may sit up here with me, but you won't be very comfortable for my head will be in your lap."
-------- Finishing her meal, Emelaide excused herself and slipped into her room, where she quickly changed for bed and settled down beneath the sheets with her cards, playing a game of solitaire before bed and thinking of Marreck. |
"I think I'll manage." Ariala said, sinking into the cushion. She rested Dimitrius' head on her lap and started to gently stroke his hair. "Its getting late." She said absentmindedly.

Dimitrius chuckled, "Is that a hint that Aunt Lina will have to finish baking the cake without you and we should be heading back to Elimlee?"

"I do need to be getting home." Ariala said, biting her lip. "My parents will worry."
