Marreck smiled as she wrapped her arms around him. "Stop apologizing." He told her. "This isn't your fault. Dimitrius should learn to control his temper. If you upset him then he should've handled it better. That wasn't your fault." He said, stroking her side with his arm.
"Nonsense. It is my fault, I started the fight and I'm the one who egged him on even though I knew he was getting furious," replied Emelaide as she snuggled deeper into his thighs, "If I hadn't, he wouldn't have acted this way.."
"Emelaide." He said, stopping his hand from stroking her side. "This moment would be much more enjoyable if you just agreed that what Dimitrius did wasn't your fault." He sighed, looking down at her. "Its over now. Maybe we should just leave it that way." He suggested, knowing the chances of her giving in were slim.
"I'm sorry.. you're right, let's just forget about it," she murmured softly as she brought his hand to her lips for a gentle kiss, "I love you Marreck.. I honestly don't know what I'd do without you.. As I said earlier, I truly don't deserve you. You're far to loving and patient and understanding towards me.. I don't deserve such kindness.."
"Don't talk like that, Em." Marreck soothed. "You're worth every bit of my attention. I wish you could see that." He said, his hand beginning to stroke her side once again. "I love you." He said.
Emelaide sighed, "But I'm not.. one of the reasons you hate Dimitrius is because he kills anything that grows with his magic. I do the same thing, all elves of Winterglade do, can't you see that? Surely that means a part of you hates me as well..."
"Don't be silly." Marreck said, resting his head against the back of the couch. "What you do is purely for the natural cycle of life. Killing plants without much cause or reason. Though I do suppose, threatening to throw him is a good reason." Marreck sat, thinking for a moment before closing his eyes. "I don't want to talk about Dimitrius anymore." He said plainly, his head was hurting just wondering what Ariala could possibly see in him. His temper was disgusting and Ariala had dealt with enough of that sort with Adan.
~-~-~ Ariala's body shook with weakness at the end of her lesson. "Go home." Her Master commanded. "You've worked hard enough." He said. Ariala took off, her body trembling by the time she reached her house. Stumbling through the door, Ariala gripped the counter for support. "Ariala?" Adan said, he had been sitting at the table and he stood immediately as she shook in the kitchen. "Go. Away." Ariala said, she was to worn out for this now. "Whoa. Its okay." Adan said, warily making his way to her and helping her stay sturdy. "At least let me help you to bed." He said, leading her to the bedroom and tucking her in. he didn't bother to change her clothes. She wouldn't have let him and she was far to tired to even try. Adan slipped back into the kitchen, preparing tea for her when she woke as well as toast with strawberry jam, her favourite. |
"I'm sorry.. I won't speak of it again, I promise," Emelaide whispered as her body began to shut itself back down. Sighing, Emelaide turned and looked up at Marreck, "Don't be afraid if you can't wake me up if I fall asleep. I over-exerted myself too soon, I'll probably revert back to the way I was yesterday, but without my magic going hay-wire. If you'd rather go home than stay here, I'll understand.."
"Would you like me to carry you back to your bed?" Marreck asked. "If you want me to leave I'll understand. But I'd rather stay to make sure you're alright." He told her.
Emelaide shook her head as she settled back down into her previous position, "No, I'm fine right where I am, as long as it doesn't bother you that I'm like this. As for you staying, I'd like nothing more. I was hoping you'd stay with me, I feel calmer when you're around."
"Of course I'll stay." Marreck said, sinking lower into the couch and resting his head against the back. "Are you sure you're comfortable?" He asked again.
Emelaide nodded, "Aye, as long as you're beside me, I'm perfectly fine. But what about you? Surely you're uncomfortable.. would you rather me go to the bedroom so you can take the spare room?"
"You're fine." Marreck said, resting his eyes. "Now tell me, love, what do you do out here in Winterglade? There doesn't seem as if there's much things to do here." He said.
"Me personally? I read and draw, sometimes paint with watercolors; it depends on my mood. Other than that, there are the occasional festivals and balls, and the card games with the animals of course. Not to mention the dinner parties at the Palace my parents drag me to," replied Emelaide with a soft chuckle, "Pretty boring, huh?"
"Not at all. Different then Elimlee. We're usually hanging from trees or running through the forests. We're pretty much always outside. Even when we're throwing balls and such everything is basically outside." He said.
Emelaide smiled, "It sounds wonderful, we're hardly ever outside unless we're painting or drawing. Our balls are always in the Palace Ballroom. It's breath-taking, but it gets far too hot in there if elves like me forget to use our magic to keep it cool due to all the dancing and excitement."
"We just prefer everything to be as in nature as possible. It usually takes weeks of preperations to decorate. The elders call down the younger elves to work on decorating the castle grounds for parties." Marreck said, thinking of the last ball when he had worked for hours to make the flowers around the edges of the castle grounds.
Emelaide couldn't help but chuckle, "Surely there are servants for that. What is the point of attending a ball if you spend the entire day decorating the scenery instead of preparing for the ball itself? You Spring Elves sure do things strangely in Elimlee."
"We decorate so that everything is ready days before the ball. Then we spend the next couple of days in front of mirrors to make sure we look our best. We're very vain people." Marreck joked.
Emelaide laughed as she teased, "I figured as much. Why else would you perfect the 'art' of growing flowers?"
"Are you mocking me?" Marreck laghed, poking at her sides gently to tickle her. "Do you find my vanity funny, Em?" He asked, moving his other hand to tickle her other side.
Emelaide laughed as she squirmed in his grasp and replied, "And what if I were? And perhaps I do? What would my punishment be?"
"I think..." Marreck said, taking his time to tickle her harder. "Hmm, not sure love. It might take some time to think about." He teased, grinning.
Emelaide laughed as she squirmed even more, "B-but ca-can't you just l-love me and ki-kiss me instead of puni-punishing me?"
"Very tempting..." Marreck said, leaning closer to Emelaide. "But, I don't know. I think that might be letting you off easy." He teased, moving his hands to wrap around her and gave her a tender kiss.
