Dimitrius neared the village and smiled as he shifted Dimeria slightly so he had a better hold on her, "Almost there, Dimeria, then you'll have something cool to drink and we'll see about getting you some new clothes."
* * * A few moments later, Dimitrius was at the foot of the tree leading to Ariala's house. Unsure how to get Dimeria up there without both of them falling, Dimitrius stepped back and called up to Ariala, hoping she'd be home, "Ari, love? You home?" |
"Dimitirus?" Ariala asked as she moved through the kitchen and to the door.
"Oh, hello." She said as she opened the door and saw Dimitrius with a very young elf in his arms. "Is she okay?" Ariala asked Dimitrius worriedly. Climbing down the ladder in record time, Ariala looked at the smaller elf before looking back at Dimitrius. "Put her on your back." She said. |
"Love, she's fine. The heat is just making her drowsy, she fell asleep on the way over here from the Palace. This is Dimeria, my sister, do you know where I can get her some Elimlee clothing to wear today? I'm afraid my Mother did not think of how it would effect Dimeria and had her dressed in her best Winterglade clothing. There's no way she can stay on my back, I can probably get her most of the way up the ladder like this, can you take her from there?" finished Dimitrius as he shifted Dimeria in his arms once more, careful not to wake her.
|
"Of course I have clothes." Ariala said. "But this will be easier." She said, her magic growing a tree next to their feet. "Just stand on this branch and I'll make it grow faster." She said pointing to a branch on the small tree. "I'll make sure it holds."
|
Dimitrius chuckled as he did as he was told, mumbling teasingly as he winked at Ariala, "Show off."
|
"Well I need something to impress you with." Ariala teased as they reached the rope bridge. Leaping over to stand on the bridge Ariala turned back to Dimitrius. "Would you like me to take her while you jump or do you have her?" She asked, her arms ready to hold the sleeping elf.
|
"Would you?" Dimitrius nodded as he handed Dimeria over before climbing onto the rope bridge. Taking Dimeria back into his arms, Dimitrius placed a tender kiss upon Ariala's lips, "Thanks, love. Now, let's get Dimeria here into the house and change her while I fix her something cool to drink."
|
"Right." Ariala said with a smile before hurrying to the trunk in her room where clothes from her childhood were.
"My mother always kept some of my clothes from when I was younger." She said, moving back to the kitchen. "I was never told why but I suppose its come in handy." She said with a smile. |
Dimitrius chuckled as he handed Dimeria to Ariala, "'tis a good thing she has strange ways. Thank you, Ariala, I truly appreciate it. I'll go pour her something cool to drink while you change her."
|
Ariala took the clothes and moved to living room to change Dimeria into her skirt and light pink shirt from when she was Dimeria's age. "Here we are." She said, holding the tiny elf girl in her arms as she moved back to the kitchen. "Do you have the drink ready?" She asked.
|
Setting the glass of juice on the table, Dimitrius nodded, "Aye, I'll take her."
Taking Dimeria in his arms, he sat down at the table and gently got her awake, "Ria, love, wake up. I've got something that'll make you feel better." Dimeria slowly blinked her eyes open. Seeing Ariala, Dimeria clung to Dimitrius tighter, especially after seeing she was in a strange house. Dimitrius chuckled as he gently caressed her back and soothed her, "Don't worry, Dimeria, this is Ariala, my fiancee. I brought you to her house for a change of clothes and something to drink. Come now, turn around and take a sip. I think you'll like it, it's common here in Elimlee." Dimeria hesitantly turned around to face the table, peeking up over her shoulder at Dimitrius before looking back at the glass filled with pineapple juice. Taking the glass in her hands, Dimeria slowly brought it to her lips and tasted the liquid. Grinning as the liquid touched her tongue, Dimeria greedily drank more. Dimitrius chuckled as he looked over at Ariala with a smile, "I think she likes it. Sorry to drop in on you like this, Ari. I wasn't expecting my Father to be at the Palace when I arrived. Mother said she wrote a note saying that Cindalina convinced him to reconsider, but I must have missed it. They're expecting us, whenever you're ready. But take your time, I'm sure you haven't had much of a chance to fill in Erreminette and Marreck on the full details of our plans, and we're in no rush." |
"Its no trouble." Ariala smiled as she saw the younger elf drinking. "I have more juice if she'd like. And I've filled in Erreminette and Marreck about the plans. Erreminette is excited like I'd thought she would be." She laughed. "She loves planning events. Plus she's very talented with white roses. They're one of my favourite flowers."
|
Dimtirius smiled as he took Ariala's hand and placed a kiss upon it, "I'm glad she'll be able to help. Between you two and my Aunt Lina, the wedding plans should be done in no-time."
Noticing Dimeria had finished her juice, Dimitrius smiled at Dimeria as he inquired softly, "Do you want more, love?" Dimeria eagerly nodded and held out her glass. "Alright, sit tight and I'll get you some more," Dimitrius chuckled softly he slid Dimeria from his lap and stood up, placing her on the chair. While Dimitrius took Dimeria's glass and refilled her cup, Dimeria sat upon the chair swinging her feet happily as she awaited the treat Dimitrius was bringing. After Dimitrius set the cup in front of Dimeria and she began drinking, Dimitrius walked over to Ariala and slid his hands around her waist. Placing a gentle kiss upon her neck, he murmured, "I think white roses would look lovely at the wedding. Although, I doubt anyone will care what the wedding looks like the minute you come into view." |
Ariala rolled her eyes lightly, tilting her neck in response to Dimitrius's kiss. Sinking into his frame, Ariala sighed. "I can't wait." She said, her voice soft. "I love you." She said before turning to Dimeria. "She's adorable." Ariala addded quietly. "She looks so much like you."
|
Dimitrius smiled as he placed another kiss upon her neck before resting his chin softly on her shoulder, looking down at Dimeria as he pulled Ariala against him, "Aye, we take after my mother's side. Thank the heavens we didn't take after my wretch of a father. Speaking of which, we'd best get to the Palace soon if we wish to hear the verdict of our wedding. I'm sure my father has already finished speaking with your Royals and is awaiting the return of my sister. Are you ready to go and face them?" he teased as he placed a tender kiss below her earlobe on her jawline.
|
"Of course." Ariala said, shivering lightly under his kisses. "Just let me fix my hair." She said, ducking out of his arms and running to the bedroom to quickly run her brush through her hair until her curls laid tame against her back.
"Okay." Ariala said, returning to the kitchen. "I'm ready." She said, running her fingers to smooth a few stray hairs. |
Dimitrius chuckled as he turned to Dimeria, "Ria, love, are you ready to go back to Mama?"
Dimeria nodded as she hopped up on the chair and held her hands out for Dimitrius, still not saying a word. Dimitrius chuckled as he picked her up and turned to Ariala, holding is free hand out for Ariala's, "Shall we?" |
Ariala smiled, taking his hand in her own. "Ready." She said as she led him out the door and towards the rope ladder. "I'm afraid I can't shrink the tree." She said, her mouth set in a line. How do you suggest we get Dimeria down?"
|
Dimitrius smiled, "She can hold onto my back now that she's awake and not so drowsy from the heat. Hold on tight Ria and don't let go, alright?"
Dimeria nodded as she climbed around to his back and held on tight while Dimitrius climbed down the rope ladder. When he reached the ground, he shifted Dimeria back into her previous position and waited for Ariala. |
Ariala scurried down the rope ladder to join Dimitrius. "To the Palace then." She said with smile, taking his hand into her's and walking towards the Palace gates to meet Dimitrius's parents. Ariala focused on her even breathing. Its just his parents... She thought to herself, feeling the pressure of impressing them. Especially his dad... She added.
|
Slipping his arm around her waist as he felt her tense, Dimitrius leaned in and placed a gentle kiss upon her cheek, "Don't worry, my dear Ariala. My mother will love you, I promise. And do not worry about my 'father'," he added, spitting the word out as if it were a bad taste within upon his tongue. "His opinion doesn't matter and will not effect anything. Please, though, do not feel as if you have to hate him simply because I do, nor feel as if you have to like him simply because he is my father."
|
Ariala smiled, feeling comforted by Dimitrius's words. "I just want to make a good impression with your parents. I'd hate for them not to like me." She said, wrapping her arm around Dimitrius as they continued to walk.
The gates to the Palace seemed oddly taller then usual. "Well, here we are." She said, freezing in front of the gates. Ariala willed her feet to move yet they remained frozen in their place on the ground. "Open the gates!" Ariala called up to the guards who began pulling the large doors open. |
Dimitrius hugged her close as he placed another kiss upon her cheek, "There's no way you can't make a good impression."
Dimeria smiled at Ariala and added softly, "I like you. Mama and Daddy are sure to like you too. Don't worry, you've already been approved by Trius, you're practically my sister already." Dimitrius laughed after Dimeria had finished speaking, "There you have it, from the mouth of babes. You have nothing to worry about, we promise you." |
Ariala blushed at Dimeria's words, turning her head to hide how red her cheeks were. "Thank you." She said quietly to Dimeria, moving towards the Palace doors.
She walked through the doors to see a regal looking woman that looked startingly like Dimitrius standing in front of her. |
Elinadette smiled as she held her arms out to Ariala, "You must be Ariala! It's a pleasure to finally meet you, my dear girl. Dimitrius has told me so much about you! Welcome to the family. I promise you, Palace life will get easier the more you live there."
Dimitrius glared at his mother as she spoke, "Mother. We will not be living in the Palace, I already told you. Please do not start it again; we're living on the border, it's already been finalized. We'll visit, but that is it." |
