"I'm afraid I don't have any warm clothes." Ariala said. "Considering I've never had a reason to leave my own kingdom before." She smiled taking his hand in hers, "I'm just glad that you don't mind the heat." Then as if suddenly hitting a realization her face beacme one of panic. "You don't, do you?"
|
Dimitrius simply smiled as he brought her hand to his lips, "Don't worry about me, love. I'd rather be too warm than have you freezing in Winterglade. However, if you do wish to ever come to Winterglade, I suppose we'll have to see about having some clothes made for you. Though, in your case, they'll be made for warmth, rather than show like ours."
Looking down into Ariala's eyes, hope twinkling within his own as he blushingly asked, "Would you.. ever consider... visiting Winterglade? Just for a little while?" |
"Of course." Ariala said happily. "I'd love to see Winterglade. I've never been anywhere but the village." She said, looking happily into his eyes that were sparkling with hope. She would give anything to see that same expression everyday. Then hestitancy reached her voice. "I mean...would, uhm, would Emelaide be upset to see me there? I would hate to cause anymore arguements."
|
With one swift motion he pulled her in for a gentle kiss. Smiling down at her, he said softly, "Don't worry about Emelaide. She is not the boss of who comes and goes from Winterglade. So until there are laws forbidding those of Elimlee from entering Winterglade, you may visit anytime you like; as long as you wear the proper attire that is. Speaking of such, next time I visit I'll bring you something warm to wear so you can follow me to Winterglade to choose styles and get measurements from our seamstress. Then everything will be all set and you'll have your very own winter-wardrobe all set for your visits."
|
Ariala filled with excitment with only a twinge of fear. The last thing she wanted was to be around the Winter Elf who had frozen her best friend. Dimitrius would prbably be unhappy if Ariala was to attack his ex-girlfriend.
"So tomorrow then?" Ariala asked, choosing to not think about Emelaide and focusing only on Dimitrius. |
Dimitrius nodded with a smile, "Tomorrow it is. Meet me at the usual spot at the border at noon?"
|
"Of course." Ariala said then placed a gentle kiss on his lips.
|
Dimitrius smiled as he hugged her close, taking in the sweet scent of her hair, before placing a gentle kiss on her forehead.

Ariala felt shivers go down her spine as he quoted the famous human author. Who knew that she of all elves would find some one to love her? She felt nearly overwhelmed by bliss. She returned his kiss, mentally reminding herself to tred lightly before she moved things far to quickly.
|
Dimitrius's eyes shined as he stepped back, bringing her hands to his lips in a brief kiss. With a simple, content, loving smile, he turned and headed towards the border, stopping just before he ran out of sight to turn back and wave 'Good-bye' to Ariala.
|
Ariala gave a smile before turning to her own kingdom and running quickly to tell Erreminette that he hadn't been cheating on her. Her feet were flying across the ground so fast that it seemed as if they weren't touching the ground at all.
|
Dimitrius couldn't keep from smiling as a gentle snowfall fell from the sky around him, his magic simply playing off his lightened mood and molding the weather to fit it. He quickly made his way towards the Seamstress's Cottage, where he found the elf Cindalina sitting by the fireplace mending a blanket, the tea on the table in front of her to her left set for two.
Dimitrius smiled as he shut the door behind him and took the chair opposite her, "Good evening Aunt Lina." "Good evening Dimitrius, I had a feeling you'd come to see me sometime this afternoon. I had hoped you'd come sooner, but I understand your young folk today, too much to do, so little time." Dimitrius smiled as he poured them each a cup of Earl Grey tea, adding sugar to his, honey to his Aunt's, "Aye, Aunt Lina. I could hardly bare to break myself away." "The Elimlee girl, I presume?" "Aye, Ariala. You'll love her Aunt Lina, you really will. She's just.. she's so.." "I understand, child, I felt the same way when I saw your Uncle Kalsihfar. I'm surprised it wasn't Emelaide, you two seemed so close," she added as she peered at him over her thin-framed glasses. Dimitrius blushed, "Aye, but I didn't feel a true connection with her; not one as strong as this. I had thought she was the one as well, you knew of my plans to Propose this off season." "Yes, child, that is why I am so surprised to find you have your heart set on another. An Elimlee girl at that, child." "I know, Auntie Lee," he said with a smile, resorting back to the name he used to call her as a child, "But once you meet her.. you'll understand what I see." "I do hope so, child. I do not want you throwing everything your parent's have worked for. She does realize you are to become a Master here in Winterglade, and that you are to take your father's place in the Palace after your father has passed?" Dimitrius blushed, "Not quite.. She knows I am to become Master, but she herself is training to become an Elder in her Kingdom!" "Even more difficulties to over-come. Not only which Palace you'll keep your permanent residence, but how will the children learn which skills they possess? And what if a child has both Spring and Winter magic? What then? What skill does the child practice and rely on? You have much to over come, my child. I hope you are ready for such a commitment." "I am, Auntie, I promise you this. When the time comes, and she will have me, we will work things through. For now, however, I must talk with you of getting her a Winter Wardrobe. It must be light, yet warm, yet something that will allow her to fit in well and not make her look as if she doesn't belong. I don't want her feeling misplaced and shunned....." As Dimitrius continued talking with her of Ariala's wardrobe, Cindalina listened as she drank her tea, mending her blanket, and mentally creating Ariala's new look so she could sketch some things and see what the young girl may like. She would also have to bind a new sketch book to make designs while the young elf was there in the cottage with her. Before Dimitrius left late that evening, she handed him a comfortable, warm outfit from her own collection for Ariala to wear the next day to Winterglade. |
Ariala raced up the rope ladder and into Erreminette's window in a matter of minutes. "Erre, Marreck was wrong. He isn't cheating on me. Oh, Erre, I feel so much better. He is so amazing." She gushed, not pausing for a breath.
"I knew you two were meant to be." Erreminette said then sneezed lightly, her cold nearly ending. She knew she would be fine by the next day. "Thank goodness for me being frozen." Erreminette said with a laugh. Ariala laughed with her, to happy to argue how wrong the Winter Elf girl had been. "Tomorrow he's taking me to Winterglade." She said happily, curling herself next to her best friend and whispering excitedly about the next day's plans as well as the day in the meadow until all hours of the night. |
.*. The Next Day .*.
* * * * * * * * * * * The next morning, Dimitrius spent his time teaching an off-season course on Precipitation at the Masters Cottage Villa. Surprisingly, Emelaide had sat in on the lecture. * * * * By the time the lecture was over, Dimitrius had just enough time to get to the border without causing Ariala to wait. Emelaide, not aware of his plans, held him up after the lecture for a simple chat. "Dimitrius, can we talk?" "About what Em?" he asked as he began making everything need for the Master. "I..well... you see, the thing is.. I.. I don't trust that girl.." "Em, that's really none of your business," he said as he glanced up at her with a semi-hard gaze. "I know.. but.. I'm worried about you.." Placing a gentle kiss on her forehead, Dimitrius sighed, "I know, Em. Please, don't worry. I'm in good hands, I promise. Besides, I love her. Give it time, you'll come to trust her." With that, he left the Lecture Hall, oblivious to the dark glare Emelaide was giving towards his back as her arms crossed in front of her, her mind obviously thinking of a mischievous plan as she spoke, "Never. One day you'll come to see her for what she is, Dimitrius.. and that day is soon." |
Ariala waited anxiously by the border, shivering more from nerves then the slight chill ahead of her. What would she do if she saw Emelaide? The more important question perhaps being, what would Emelaide do if she saw Ariala?
Ariala glanced searchingly through the forest. It was already past noon, the thoughts of Marreck's words ran through Ariala's mind but she quickly pushed them aside. She knew Dimitrius better then Marreck did, she didn't need to worry. |
After he had left Emelaide, he ran to his cottage, shoved his things onto the table, and grabbed the clothes his Aunt Cindalina had given him for Ariala to wear into Winterglade. Glancing at the clock, he groaned, quickly making his way out of the cottage, through the village, and to the border, arriving around 12:30pm.
Handing the clothes to Ariala, he sighed as he kissed her cheek, his face a tad flushed from running so hard. In between breaths, he managed to explain, "I'm so sorry, love. Emelaide stepped in on my lecture at the Villa and kept me after class. She had 'concerns' to discuss," he said with a roll of his eyes, "I got here as fast as I could. I really am sorry, Ariala. I hope I didn't worry you and make you get too cold." |
Ariala smiled thankfull when Dimitrius arrived. Though she was indeed cold it felt more from thinking about Emelaide's 'concerns' which she was sure was about her.
"No." Ariala said with a small smile. "I'm not cold." But she quickly pulled herself into the warmer clothes. |
With a sigh, he noticed Ariala's look. For although he had known her but a few days, he was easily picking up on her little features that told when she wasn't saying something. As he reached up and caressed her cheek with his fingertips, he took his other hand and held hers, bringing it to his lips in a gentle kiss.
"You trust me, right? You know there's nothing between Emelaide and I anymore, right? That there's nothing for you to worry about because I'll always tell you the truth, no matter how hurtful the truth may be?" Although Dimitrius tried to hide it, there was a hint of hurt and sadness in his voice, even though he knew she was just acting like this because of how close he had been with Emelaide before he met Ariala, as well as the fact that Marreck had told her not to trust him. So although he understood where this was coming from, he still couldn't stop the hurt it caused him when he thought about how much she truly didn't trust him, even though he was being completely and utterly honest with the girl standing in front of him, the only girl he loves. |
"Dimitrius..." She said, looking up at him. "I don't mean to hurt you. Its just, I've never felt this way before and I promise you I'm trying. But I don't want to lose you and knowing how close you two were..." She said, her voice trailing off.
|
Placing a sweet kiss on her lips, he smiled, the hurt gradually leaving his expression, "I know, but I give you my word, nothing will ever happen between Emelaide and I. I would never do anyting that would risk me losing you, I care about you too much to mess it up now that I have you and know you care about me. If I lost you... I.."
|
"I know how it feels." Ariala said, looping her arms around his neck and pulling him close, resting her forehead on his own. "Knowing how close you were to Emelaide then you having these feelings for me. I'm afraid that you'll realize you made a mistake and want Emelaide back. I just don't want to lose you..."
|
Dimitrius shook his head slightly before tilting his face so he could place a proper kiss upon her lips. When the kiss ended, his lips lingered as he whispered against her lips, "Never." Leaning in for another passionate kiss, Dimitrius smiled.
Pulling back, he looked down into her her eyes, love obviously emanating from them as he spoke, "Never will I believe I've made a mistake in choosing you. I promise, you have no need to fear losing me; for as long as you wish for me, I'm yours, remember that." His hands lightly resting on her hips, he grinned, "Now, love, get dressed and let us head to Winterglade so you can create a wardrobe all your own. The seamstress already has a few selections for you to choose from so she can get an idea of your tastes, then she'll set about designing clothes to your specific tastes. We may be awhile, she tends to come up with far too many designs and only ends up creating only half of them in order to add to the surprise of what you actually receive; very few cases as she created wardrobes where every article of clothing is present. Are you free for the rest of the day, possibly evening?" |
"Yes. I'm free until tomorrow." Ariala said, trusting Dimitrius that he wouldn't leave her for Emelaide. She quickly changed into the warmer clothes and began to walk into Winterglade, her hand in Dimitrius'.
|
Dimtrius smiled as his flingers laced through Ariala's and they began walking in the general direction of the village.
"Let me know if your hands get cold, I'm afraid I forgot the gloves," he added with a blush. "But tell me love, am I going to have to make room in my closet for your new wardrobe?" he inquired teasingly. |
"I'm sure I can fit the clothes in my own house." Ariala said, looking up at Dimitrius. The cold was in fact harsher then she would've thought, though she only allowed herself to shiver when she was sure Dimitrius wasn't looking.
