"Kinda," Tryx rasped then frowned "but are you okay? He didn't get you did he?" she seemed to be able to talk a little bit better with every word she said but even so it seemed to be hard for her to breathe.

Syray then started crying and then everything stopped. All teh tears and all the laughter was gone. "I'm sorry..." She murmured and stood up. "We need to get out of here," she noted and grabbed Katali's wrist, pulling her off to the stables "Me and Tryx found this hiding spot when her dad got mad at her once for conversing with a stable hand in a friendly manner," Syray explained, climbing up some hay bales and into a perfectly hidden hole in the wall.

"No, I'm fine," Talyn lied quietly. "Don't talk, just breathe," he advised Tryx.

Katali clambered in after Syray. Her eyes flickered back and forth. "Tryx wouldn't have told Garryt about this would she?"

Tryx frowned "but...they'll find us," she gasped "we gotta get a better hiding spot," but then fell silent as guards finally turned the corner and looked straight at the area they were hiding behind "I thought i heard some whispering back here," the guard murmured and started walking towards Talyn and Tryx. Tryx instantly latched onto Talyn, wrapping her arms around his neck so that they couldn't claim he had forced her back there. She closed her eyes tight and prayed that the guard didn't come closer. Another guards voice raised and said "Hey, what're you doing, it's just the wind, the plant is too thorny for them to be hiding back there!" and the first guard turned and left. Tryx let her breath out quietly and felt the need to cough start rising up. She clamped her mouth closed but her eyes betrayed her panic

"No, Tryx could be a love fool but she was never a promise breaker and she looked me in the eyes and swore to me on her life that she would never tell anyone about this unless their lives were being threatened. That's the only reason I can show you it now," Syray chuckled

Talyn grinned suddenly. "Just cough or sneeze or whatever you're going to do. I'll cover it up." His lips continued to move silently even after he'd finished speaking out loud, making words Tryx had never heard before. Obviously doing magic...

"Good." Katali let out her breath and fell into silence for a minute. She leaned against a bale of hay, appearing to be lost in thought.

Why is it whenever I actually get some decent ideas you're on vacation? >:O

Tryx doubled over coughing repeatedly and only being able to stop to breathe a little in between every 5th cough or so. Finally she finished and smiled a little at Talyn "Thanks" she mouthed and then blushed and pulled her arms away from his neck.

Syray stared at Katali as she thought but didn't say anything, just sat and checked outside the hole every once in a while. Finally her curiousity got the best of her and she demanded "what are you thinking about?" quietly

Talyn's face reddened a little. "Well, you know, I live to serve the kindom," he mumbled, his voice wavering slightly.

"Oh--nothing. Just about this mage I used to know. Garryt reminds me of him a little too much." Katali crossed her arms and returned to staring off into space.

Tryx rolled her eyes "long live the king," she muttered darkly and glared out towards the guards

"May i ask how so?" Syray questioned flicking her ear

Katali glared at Syray ever so slightly. "I don't want to talk about it," she whispered softly but somewhat venemously.

"Yeah," Talyn agreed absentmindedly.

"mrrrow," Syray muttered under her breath, commenting on Katali's snippish tone "okay then," she muttered but kept shooting Katali curious looks

"What's up?" Tryx asked, catching Talyn's absent tone.

"Just...worried about Katali. That's all," Talyn said, though it was pretty obvious he was hiding the whole truth.

Katali had nothing to say.

"What else?" Tryx demanded. She wasn't going to settle for anything less then the best

Syray flicked Katali's cheek, bored. "Whatcha doin?" she asked

Talyn shrugged. "You know, I think you're really pretty." His face turned an interesting shade of crimson as he realized what he had said.

Katali sighed. "Hm, Syray, what do you THINK I'm doing?"

Tryx smiled at him "thank you!" she sang and hugged him, completely oblivious to his embarrassment.

"I dunno. What are you doing?" Syray continued to annoy Katali and she flicked her tail, widening her eyes to look innocent.

Talyn stayed mostly stiff, lifting his hand awkwardly to pet Tryx's hair as if she were a cat or something.

Katali shrugged. "Leave me alone."

Tryx leaned into Talyn's hand and smiled a little before jumping a little <3 when she realized <3 what she was doing. "Let's go. I'll sneak us out," she decided suddenly.

"Fine, but i'm getting out of here. I don't want to deal with this castle BS anymore," Syray decided, getting up and starting to move out of the hole

"See ya," said Katali, then crossed her arms and legs, making it clear that she was planning to stay put. She breathed deeply and then stared off into space.

Talyn nodded. "Okay," he agreed, though he was pretty sure the guards could spot his face like a glowing stoplight from miles away.

Syray rolled her eyes "stop being a baby Katali, we're safe, let's go find Tryx and Talyn alright?" she flicked her ears around, listening for footsteps, and, upon discovering nothing, promptly climbed out of the hole and snuck out of the stable

Tryx smirked and poked her head around the corner, checked that no one was coming and, grabbing Talyn's hand, began a dash for a slightly smaller stable. Upon reaching the stables she unlocked two stalls, throwing Talyn a halter "You know how to groom and saddle a horse right?" she checked as she led a 15 hand, fine-boned, bright bay mare out of one stall and began to quickly curry comb, brush and clean the hooves out. "Let's go! Let's go!" she giggled, jokingly rushing Talyn.

Talyn smiled lightly at Tryx before turning to the horse in the other stall she had opened. She was a beautiful mare, with a graceful but sturdy build. He picked up the brush hanging on the wall nearby and began to work on her already gleaming coat, which was a speckled gray which gradually cascaded into a night black around her hooves. The horse seemed to have taken a liking to the young mage, and cooperated as he prepared her for the ride. Within a few minutes Talyn emerged from the stall on the mare. "It's been a while since I've ridden," he admitted to Tryx, "but I suppose it's a feeling that you never really forget." He raised his eyebrows at the princess. "So where are we headed to, exactly?"

Katali sighed before pulling herself up and following Syray out of the hole. "Now if I were a Talyn, where would I be?" she muttered to herself too quietly for Syr to hear.

Tryx shrugged as she finished up with her horse and mounted gracefully "Away for a while?" she suggested as she steered her horse, as she had said, away from the castle "there are some really pretty woods out here, just away from everyone and everything," she gently spurred her mare up to a canter, strangely quiet as though she was lost in thought.

Syray pranced out, "so, I think I have a few chores to do, mind tagging along? We might run into Talyn and Tryx whilst going around. I have to start with some mucking out, but we'll be in the castle soon.

Talyn brought his horse to a sudden halt. "They're still looking for Katali and Syray, aren't they?" he asked quietly. "Trust me, I want to get out of here as much as you do. But Katali's my best friend, and I need to know that she's safe."

Katali shrugged. "Cleaning up after those born above the rest of us," she scoffed, but continued, "I need to practice some of the basic household magic anyway. What are we starting with?"

Tryx didn't even look back "Oh, Syray and I have a hiding spot that no ones knows about, they'll be fine," she laughed "really, don't worry, Syray and I practically have maps of all the best hiding spots seared in our minds, we got in trouble so much when we were young," but then she slowed her horse down and finally looked back "but IO suppose if you're really worried we can wait in the stables, I think Syray's supposed to clean up in the little one these girls are housed in," she commented, gently patting her horse's neck

Syray shrugged "It's that or die of starvation," she replied simply as she made her way to the small stable set apart from the others and grabbed a rake and wheelbarrow and began to clean out the stalls "So, you know magic?" she asked, slightly surprised at this, and half-wondering if she had just missed an obvious clue

Talyn nodded. "If you're sure they'll be safe." He nudged the mare into a gallop, and the young horse was quickly leaving the castle behind. Absentmindedly, Talyn adjusted his hair, making sure that it was still keeping his ears well hidden.

Katali grinned. "I'm a mage, that is why I'm here in the castle at all, you know." She murmured a few words under her breath and the messes in the stalls began to disintegrate. After a few seconds, the stable was spotless. Pleased with her work, she allowed herself a quick laugh. "That worked a lot better than I thought it would."

Tryx smiled a little and quickly nudge her horse faster "Race!" she called as she passed, quickly lowering herself to the bay's neck with a bigger grin as the mare continued to speed up

Syray blinked in surprise "Oh yeah, of course," she laughed, turning and pushing the wheelbarrow back to it's place and walking back out, a sly grin spreading across her features "so. . .You and Talyn?" she raised one eyebrow and nodded "both of you are mages. . ." she suggested wryly
