He smiles slightly somehow he knew she would say that though he wasn’t expecting her to bring her own food… though he guessed he should have seen that coming. His smile widened with her last comment.

“how about we avoid that whole situation. Ill just pick up some food from the nearest fast food place then we can head over to the park and find a shady tree to sit under” he meant it more as a question but it came out more of a statement instead so as an after thought he added. “sound good?”

Mageling 05-13-2010 05:47 PM

"That sounds perfect," Ana replied, smiling a little. The rest of her day was pretty much free, since she had most of her classes in the morning before the sun rose too high. Her only other class that day was an evening class, so she had plenty of time to kill.

She absently glanced around, mostly out of old habit, and noticed one or two of the other vampire students around. One was the girl who worked in the financial building, and the other was Veronica. She was slightly surprised to see Veronica up and about so early, and then rolled her eyes a little when Veronica made a suggestive face at her.

"Veronica is trying to tease me," she murmured to Bain as the younger vampire disappeared into one of the buildings.

amara nightfire 05-14-2010 04:22 AM

“Alright” he replied smiling. He went to turn in the direction of the nearest fast food place when he noticed her head shift ever so slightly as if taking in the area instantly he tensed and tried to see where she was looking to when she spoke. he then turned his head just in time to see said vampire disappear into a building. He looked back at her with one eye brow raised

“what do you mean by tease?” he asked carefully he didn’t want to pry into something that was private but he figured if she had mentioned it than it must be up for fair game.

Mageling 05-14-2010 02:28 PM

"Just typical teasing between friends, I would imagine," Ana replied easily. "After all, it isn't every day a girl gets lunch with a nice guy without her friends around." She paused, and then added, teasing, "Although, it's probably a good thing my friends aren't around. Many of them would think you're my lunch, instead of my lunch date."

Turning, she started walking with him. "I'll go with you. That way, we can head straight to the park. Not many of my kind will be up and about this time of day."

amara nightfire 05-14-2010 08:50 PM

He made a sound close to a snort, but she was probably right he would be seen as just food. “alright” he replied as they began walking. they didn’t have to walk far before they reached there destination. Bain quickly placed his order; hamburger, fries and a pop before scooting Ana out of the building and toward the park.

“so are all vampires like you, I mean do they see us more then just…” Bain floundered for a moment before he finaly settled on the word “food” it was not a conversation he particularly wanted to have but he needed to know what he was getting into.

Mageling 05-14-2010 09:22 PM

"...No," Ana replied after a moment. She picked a spot in the park that was well-shaded by the trees. "Many of the older ones are very set in their ways. I am something of an anomaly, in their eyes. After all, why would one want to play with their food, so to speak?" Taking out her thermos, she uncapped it and took a sip. "Having human friends is very much a generational thing, I've noticed." Taking another sip from her thermos, she smiled a bit. "O-negative is such a rare blood type these days... I forgot how much I liked it."

amara nightfire 05-15-2010 03:24 AM

well that figures Bain thought as he took a seat next to her pulling out his hamburger unwrapping it and taking a bite. His body almost stiffened when she when she said ‘play with your food’ but he caught himself and forced his mussels to relax. It was something he had expected really so it shouldn’t have affected him however he hadn’t expected her to say it. he sat there quietly as she took another sip of her ‘food’ unsure if she was going to add anything else when she did continue he almost stumbled over his own words continuing the conversation to avoid her last comment. It wasn’t that it bothered him, because it didn’t, he just wasn’t sure how to reply to such a statement but he figured with time he’d learn.

“a generational thing huh?” he paused for a moment to take another bite of his hamburger making sure to swallow before continuing. “so how many new vampires are there exactly?” to him the thought of many new vampires didn’t make sense if humans were seen as just food then why make them into something else? But then again that may have been a generational thing as well.

Mageling 05-15-2010 03:55 AM

"Statistically, there are at least two newborns turned every night, at least in our country," Ana replied. "The old world has a bit of a different statistic, but I don't know it off the top of my head. I haven't been back to the old world in decades." She took another sip from her thermos and sighed. O-neagative really was her favorite. No A or B bits or Rh factors to mess with the flavor. She knew her skin probably already had a bit more color than it had before, since the blood had hit her system. She liked looking pale, but pasty was another matter.

amara nightfire 05-15-2010 04:12 AM

“really” he couldn’t cover up his surprised tone. That was a surprising statistic he would have figured may be 10 in a year but two a night? Wow there really was a lot more to this vampire thing then he had realized. He reached down for some fries as he pondered what she had said. If there were that many being turned… then how many vampires where there exactly and for that matter had she been to one to turn any of them? that was the real question he wanted to know. It seemed like such a personal thing but maybe it wasn’t? being careful about his wording he ask the easiest question first… at least it was easiest for him.

“ok… so I have two questions… Where is the old word?” he moved his hand up and lifted one finger for emphasis “and two” here he extended another finger “have you turned anyone?”

Mageling 05-15-2010 04:31 AM

"I never said that those two every night actually survived," Ana pointed out. Leaning back against the tree, she sighed. "The old world... It stretches over most of Europe. It's centered in France, I believe. That's where the height of society was when we were in our prime." She looked out over the happy, oblivious people of the park. None of them knew that they weren't the top of the food chain, nor that a predator was among them.

"I've never had to turn anyone," she said after a moment. "I've been careful not to drain anyone. And I considered myself a solitary creature, so I never really needed companionship until recently. And even then, I have Veronica and a few others. So there was never any need to turn my own fledgeling."

amara nightfire 05-15-2010 01:07 PM

He didn’t know why but the fact that she hadn’t changed anyone made him relieved. Perhaps he was getting to close? He considered that for a moment. A human and a vampire…. Together… as friends… it didn’t sound right to him and he was sure it would sound even less so to her especially around other vampires. So then why be around him for so long? He didn’t want to think about the negative qualities that could come from this so he stop thinking entirely going back to eating.

“so why do you think you need the companionship now?” he hadn’t meant to ask but the question slipped out before he could stop it. “sorry about all the questions” he threw in there quickly. “I’m still getting used to the vampire thing”

Mageling 05-15-2010 03:19 PM

"I don't mind the questions," Ana reassured. Taking a sip from her thermos, she sighed a little. "Almost four hundred years is a long time to be alone. I think it's just finally starting to get to me. Four hundred is about the average age that a vampire turns their first fledgeling, after all. I was just lucky to stumble upon Veronica. Having her to teach helped keep away the loneliness. She's an adopted fledgeling, if you will."

She looked out over the park, watching the young mothers with their children, and sighed. That was the only thing about her old life that she truly missed. Her marriage may not have been about love, but she very much missed her daughter, even though the little girl was long grown and gone.

amara nightfire 05-16-2010 03:12 AM

Wow four hundred years alone… no wonder she was starting to feel lonely. But he was glad that she had found Victoria to help ease the pain of loneliness and he hoped that now that he was around and knew what the ‘situation’ was, that his presence would also help to alleviate some of her loneliness as well.

Bain turned to ask her about veronica when he saw the expression she had on her face she looked… sad or at least the was the emotion he thought he saw. He turned to see what had caught her attention and noticed a few families not that far from where they sat. frowning slightly he asked in a low almost sad voice

“you had a family once too didn’t you” he felt truly sad for her, he kept forgetting that although she was a vampire now that she had at one time been human. How horrible that must have been to loose a life you once cherished. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to pry into such a subject…” he stated before she could answer his question. “I’m sure that even if you did… you wouldn’t want to talk about it” as he spoke he continued to watch mothers and children interact together.

Mageling 05-16-2010 03:23 AM

"No, it's okay," Ana replied. "My father had married me off to a schoolteacher in our town, a man named John Fletcher. It was simply a matter of making sure I was taken care of, rather than anything based on emotional ties. Regardless, I was almost immediately with child." She spoke softly, drifting back into her memories.

"I had turned nineteen by the time our daughter was born. Such a beautiful little girl... That was the spring that the witch-hunts started, though. Because my birthday was All Hallow's Eve, everyone assumed I must be a witch. The rest is history, really. A while later, I went back to keep an eye on my daughter, and her decendants. If I wanted to, I could probably track them down, even today."

amara nightfire 05-16-2010 03:36 AM

Bain was surprised to say the least, he had not expected her to be so open about her history like that, in fact It kind of touched him that she was willing to share that kind of information about herself. however his mood darkened deeply when he fully absorbed what she had said. She was killed in the prim of her life because humans were stupid arrogant beings that cant except things that are unknown to them. he scowled deeply at the thought and he desperately wished he could have done something but that was a long time ago and there was nothing that could be done now to erase it. he calmed himself down enough to continue the conversation with out bringing up his dark thoughts.

“that’s impressive that you can still track them down still” he looked at her and smiled “you really are an amazing person you know that” his voice held a hint of happiness in it as he thought about what she had had to sacrifice and yet she over came it all and watched over her descendants.

Mageling 05-16-2010 03:44 AM

"Amazing?" Ana asked, genuinely baffled. "How so?" She hadn't done anything particularly noteworthy... She wasn't even all that old, compared to some others of her kind. And there had been others who had lost far more than she had... After all, she hadn't been powerful or important when she was alive. She had just been average. No special skills, no good connections... Of course, she had those NOW, after she'd had almost four hundred years to cultivate them, but still.

amara nightfire 05-16-2010 03:51 AM

Bain only smiled and replied with a simple “you just are” then turned back to his food and quickly finished the rest of it. he wasn’t sure if he could fully explain to her how she was amazing he just felt that she was so he was going to let her think about it. besides things might get interesting if she started squirming though he doubted she would she was after all hundreds of years old surly something as simple as this wouldn’t bother her.

“well I should probably be getting back” he said as he stretched while still seated. “iv got another class in an hour” he looked at her expectantly waiting for a reply.

Mageling 05-16-2010 03:56 AM

Ana was very much confused, although she tried not to let it show. She'd never had anyone say that about her before... Looking at Bain, she knew he wasn't going to say anything else on the matter. Finishing her 'lunch', she capped her thermos and put it into her bag.

"I'll walk back with you," she offered, holding out a hand to help him up.

amara nightfire 05-16-2010 04:12 AM

He looked at her hand and after a few seconds of debate he took it and used his legs to lift himself. It felt weird having a girl offer to help him stand he felt he should be in that position but she was stronger then him so… after fully standing he thanked her and grabbed his garbage crumpling it in a tight ball he started to lead the way stopping only to throw his trash in the trash can.

“so what do you have planed for today?”

(>.< sorry its so short!)

Mageling 05-16-2010 04:17 AM

"Nothing, really," Ana replied as they walked. It was a nice day, though still a little too warm for her tastes, although it was only just barely sixty degrees. Her long sleeves covered the burn on her arm, though she barely thought about it. "Though I was thinking, with winter break coming up in a couple months, I would take a trip back to the old world for a little while. I would be back in time for the spring semester, definitely. But it would be nice to attend an old-style ball, and there are none more grand than those held for Christmas."

((it's alright))

amara nightfire 05-17-2010 01:52 AM

Bain looked at her from the corner of his eye. why did he feel worried about her going? she obviously has been around other vampires so why did he feel nervous about it? he supposed it was because he was a protective person by nature and he wasn’t used to being around someone that didn’t need protecting.

"that sounds fun" his voice held a bit of regret it in for he knew he would not see her for a little while and he knew for a fact that he couldn’t go with her. "i suppose they even dress up in old world clothes" so spoke more to himself to her. "is veronica going to go with you?" he asked politely.

Mageling 05-17-2010 02:03 AM

"The Christmas ball is usually by invitation only," Ana replied. She heard the note of sadness in his voice, and couldn't understand where it came from. "I am allowed to bring a guest with me... But the old world isn't really Veronica's style. She's too young, too modern to appreciate an old world Christmas ball." She thought for a moment, weighing her options. She was sure she would be able to keep the others away... "If you don't have any plans over winter break..." She trailed off, hoping her would get the hint.

amara nightfire 05-17-2010 02:36 AM

Bain turned his head to look at her. was she really inviting him? well that was an odd turn of events surly the other vampires wouldn’t be happy she brought a human in to their mists.... or perhaps they would... he almost shuttered at the thought. "are you asking me to join you?" he asked hesitantly fist and foremost he had to make sure before he let his thoughts get out of hand.

Mageling 05-17-2010 02:46 AM

"You don't have to if you don't feel comfortable with it," Ana replied. "I would completely understand if you don't." She wouldn't be comfortable with it, either, in his position. "I mean, I might have to tag you temporarily to make sure the others know you're off-limits, but..." She shrugged. "All-expenses-paid trip to Europe for break. Airfare, meals, and new clothes all included."

amara nightfire 05-17-2010 02:54 AM

so she was inviting him. his heart almost soared though he couldnt say why maybe he really was getting attached to her. "no no" he said quickly holding up his hands in a surender "i would love to come i just wasnt sure if- wait what do you mean by tag?" his voice went from happy to confused in three seconds flat. he put his arms back down and raised one eyebrow up at her.
