"Something happened," Archie declared, shortly. He grinned, and his tail moved a bit faster. "I'd like to know what, if you don't mind..."
"What makes you say anything happened?" Glory asked, fighting to keep a straight face.
Archie pointed at Léan, who was relaxing next to him. "He hasn't scolded me for irritating him. He's too happy to flip out on me. He's ignoring me instead," he huffed, folding his arms across his chest.
"Even if something happened," Glory said, "it's not your business, is it?" Hopefully, she would be able to throw him off the trail, but she wasn't sure if she could.
"I make it my business to make my big brother's business my business," Archie retorted, pouting like a very small child. "Pretty please? I want to know."
Glory glanced at Léan, silently asking if he wanted her to say anything. She figured not, but she wanted to be sure before she went talking about how they'd gotten closer.
Léan shook his head at once. He was sure his brother would eventually figure everything out on his own. It would keep him occupied for a while, and they wouldn't have to hear his squealing and fussing right this minute.
"I'm not going to say anything, Archie," Glory said, taking the hint. "I don't know why you think something happened, but I'm not going to comment on it."
Archie grumbled, then smacked Léan lightly with his tail. "I will find out sooner or later," he warned, and then ducked underwater. He swam away, probably to go and check on Damon.
"You may have to tell him eventually," Glory murmured to Léan, giving him a kiss once Archie was out of sight. "I doubt he's going to stop asking."
Léan returned the kiss pleasantly before forming an idea. "I will tell him to go far out to sea, and then I will duck underwater and scream it to him. He, in turn, will let out his squealing underwater and not disturb anyone." He paused, then shuddered. "I will have to run for my life. He'll try to tackle and hug me."
"You could," Glory agreed. "Unless he catches us kissing first."
"That would be awful," Léan groaned, suddenly shifting to put a bit of distance between them in case Archie was watching. "We would both end up getting it, then..."
"Tell him however you think is best," Glory said. "Viktor should be here soon to drop off the tank and the shark, so I should keep an eye out for him."
"I think I will wait until Viktor has come here and left..." Léan decided, nodding. "I will use my idea..."
"Alright," Glory said. She turned to look back towards the house when she heard the familiar sound of the pick-up. "And it seems he's here."
Viktor was waiting in the drive way. He had the tank on the back of his truck, with the very hungry-looking shark in it. He was studying her home and trying to figure out how he'd get the tank inside.
Léan nodded, having heard the truck, as well. "You had better go, then, and figure out what you're going to do with the tank." |
Glory nodded.
"Alright," she said, giving him one more kiss before heading around to the front of the house. "Hey, Viktor," she said. "Give me five minutes to see what kind of fish we might have in the house so I can feed the shark, then we can just take it out to the beach and collapse the tank." |
Léan watched her leave, and then curled himself up in the shallows, waiting patiently for her to return.
Viktor grinned, saluting her. "What's up? All right-y, then, I'll wait out here. I popped in the cargo hold a couple of times to feed your friend, here, since we had fish on-board, but he's still hungry." |
"I can see that," Glory said. "I'll be right back." Quickly, she went into the kitchen to see what was thawed, and grinned when she saw some fish in the fridge, unfrozen but also uncooked. Taking it, she went back out to the tank in the truck and dropped it in.
Viktor watched the shark ravage the fish she'd dropped in the tank, reducing it to nothing in less than a minute. "Hungry, indeed. Now, the tank's heavy, so we can't lift it. I can drive my truck out on the sand, since it's got off-road wheels, and then try to get him out there."
"Have at it, then," Glory said. "If you think your tires can handle the sand, all the more power to you. I know my car can't handle it."
Viktor hopped back into his truck and revved it to life. He carefully backed his truck up behind the house, and to the edge of the beach, near the water. He killed the engine and hopped out, assessing the situation.
Glory thought for a moment.
"If we could tip it over or something, that would make it easier to get the tank itself inside, too," she mused. |
That might hurt the shark, because of the rocks at the bottom...but I guess we could try it," Viktor mused in return, thinking. "If only we had a tarp...we could tip it over and catch the shark in it, then empty it out. Put real sand and junk in it instead of the fake rocks."
