"I suppose I could try that," Glory mused. "I'm not sure how well it would work, but I could try." It took her a bit of effort to stand up, but once she did, she grabbed a fresh bandage, a spare pillow, and a blanket. She changed his bandage, and then gave him the pillow and blanket. "Try to rest a bit, it might help."
Viktor nodded, slowly, and shifted a bit, wincing when his wound started to throb. "Ugh...all right...I'll just stay here for a while. No one's going to ask questions, right?"
There was some shifting outside. Léan had probably headed out of their cave to see what was going on. |
"I can't guarantee that," Glory replied. "Nana isn't here at the moment, and I'll explained everything when she gets back, but I can't guarantee no questions."
"...I just don't want my parents to find me. I'm eighteen, and I'm allowed to live on my own...I just have to get my stuff out of the house and find somewhere to stay..." Viktor seemed a little upset, about having to leave, but...he couldn't take the abuse from his parents anymore.
"Well, I doubt they know you're here," Glory reasoned. "There are only a few people in this town topside who know where I live, it's not like I'm really all that popular."
"That's true..." Viktor sighed, closing his eyes. "I guess I'll get some rest...I should be fine, for now...I think..."
"Alright," Glory replied. "I shouldn't be getting so good at patching people up, you know." She stood up carefully. "I'm going out to the rocks for a bit. Try not to make that wound any worse, alright?"
"Yep..."
Viktor settled down to relax, intending to nap and stay in that position for a while. |
Glory made her way out to the beach and carefully settled herself on her rock. She probably wouldn't go back into the water for a while, but the sound of the ocean was still soothing.
Léan was there, resting in the shallows. He was relaxing, as well...he didn't seem to want to get out of the water.
Glory saw him in the water, though she didn't move to join him. She kind of wanted him to sit with her, but she figured he was more comfortable in the water.
Léan glanced up at her, fitfully, and then moved closer to the rocks. He didn't pull himself out of the water, but he was close enough that he could reach up and gently join their hands together.
Glory reached down and took his hand gently.
"Why don't you come sit with me?" she suggested softly. |
Léan frowned, but he pulled himself up out of the water slowly to sit by her. He pulled his knees up to his chest the moment he changed, so that he was not as exposed.
Glory rolled her eyes but gave him a kiss.
"You could keep your feet in the water, you know," she said. "I'm probably not going to go back in for a little while, but there's no reason for you to change." |
"It's fine..." Léan replied, idly. "So? What was going on?" He glanced over towards the truck in the driveway. "...Maybe you should turn that off."
"Yeah, probably," Glory replied. It took her a bit of effort, but she managed to stand back up. She went over to the truck and turned it off, and then went back to sit down. "Alright, truck is off." She took his hand again. Softly, she explained what was going on.
Léan frowned. "...Well...I understand. Is he going to be staying here for a while...? Perhaps he could help you with your schoolwork...isn't he some kind of genius...?"
"I'm not sure how long he'll be here," Glory replied. She sighed a bit and leaned against him. "I kind of hope it won't be too long... I mean, we do still need to prepare for the twins..." She was still a little hesitant to bring it up, but they couldn't ignore it anymore.
"His 'friend' Curry will probably have a place where he can stay," Léan reminded her, pointedly. He didn't comment on her comment about the twins.
"I figured that," Glory replied. "I'm going to have him contact Curry once he's a bit better." She noticed how he didn't touch the other subject. She sighed. "We can't pretend this isn't happening anymore, you know..."
"I'm aware of that," Léan grumbled, tersely. "I'm still nervous. I'll try to help you as best I can, but even you know that my best may well be the worst I could possibly be..."
Glory took his hand and pressed it gently to her stomach. One of the twins moved against his hand.
"See, you're not hurting them," she said softly to him. |
Léan scowled. "This won't make a difference once they're out. It's different..." he attempted to explain, tonelessly.
"Right now, this is as close to them as you can get," Glory pointed out. "Small steps, that's all. You need to start getting comfortable being near them. Once they're out, we can take another step and get you comfortable holding them."
