"All right." Viktor's attention was wholly focused on the show again as they brought out a whole new set of...er...fun things to show to the audience.
Glory rolled her eyes and went back into her room. She made sure to close the door, at least most of the way, and then slipped back into bed.
"He'll be fine," she said. |
Léan nodded, sleepily. He had barely moved from his position since she had left. He was going to be lazy today, it seemed.
Glory curled up next to him and snuggled close. Being lazy together was definitely better than arguing and being angry at each other.
Léan stayed lazy for quite a while before he felt the need to get up. The need being his stomach grumbling rather loudly.
Glory couldn't help but grin.
"I heard that," she teased. She sat up. "That's alright, I'm hungry too. Let's go find something to eat." |
Léan hopped out of bed eagerly, his stomach groaning for...joy? He'd been hungry for the past few hours, but unwilling to go after any sort of food...laziness took precedence.
"You could have said something," Glory said as she got up as well. She wasn't nearly as quick about it as he was, but that was to be expected. "Come on, we should have something in the kitchen."
"I could have. But I didn't..." Léan headed out towards the kitchen. He had to pause and stare at what Viktor had on TV for a bit, and then he sighed, cheeks a little pink, and shook his head. He continued on to the kitchen.
Glory rolled her eyes as they passed Viktor.
"Ignore him," she murmured. She walked into the kitchen and started to look through the cabinets. |
"Gladly." Léan helped her look through the cabinets. Though he wasn't sure what most things were anyway...
Reaching the lower shelves wasn't a problem, but Glory was getting increasingly frustrated when she couldn't lean on the counter to reach the higher shelves. Finally, she ended up giving up and sticking to the lower shelves. While she was looking in the cabinet, she spotted a box of cornbread mix.
"Now that would be good..." she murmured, pulling it down. |
Léan was secretly amused by her frustration. He watched her out of the corner of his eye, noting that her nose wrinkled up when she was really getting annoyed. He turned to look at her when she finally spoke.
"Oh...?" |
"I'm going to make some corn bread," Glory replied, glancing at the list of things she needed. Once she'd set the oven to pre-heat, she went around gathering the things she would need. "I want corn bread all of a sudden." She paused. "Actually, I think the twins want it more than I do, I just happen to be in the way."
Léan, someone with no experience and little knowledge of how pregnancy affected women, seemed puzzled by that statement. He simply shrugged. "I have never had it before..."
"I think you'll like it," Glory replied, giving him a kiss as she passed. It didn't take her long to get the batter mixed and into the glass pan. As soon as the oven went off, signalling that it was at the proper temperature, she put the pan in and set the timer. "Once that goes off again, I'll take it out and let it cool."
"All right..." Léan stayed by her side, not even realizing he was doing it. "Where are we going to eat?" he wondered, suddenly. "Unless you want to enjoy Viktor's taste in television, we can't use the couch and table there..."
"We can go outside, if you like," Glory suggested. "Or into my room. It doesn't matter which." As long as she got to enjoy the corn bread with him, she'd be happy.
"Whichever's better. I don't mind..." Léan assured her, smiling. He was just hungry and wanted to eat...the location didn't matter.
"We'll figure it out once the corn bread is done," Glory said, pulling over a chair and sitting down in it.
Léan nodded slowly, leaning against the counter. He seemed much more comfortable on his feet now than he had in the past few weeks. He was idly wondering if he could try running, now...he'd tried a few days ago. And he'd promptly tripped and fallen.
Glory reached over and took one of his hands gently. She knew better by now than to bring up anything about the children. They were both in such good moods, she didn't want to ruin it. If he brought them up, however, she wouldn't stop him.
Léan squeezed her hand gently, welcoming the silence. He did not want to talk about the future. He was still not comfortable, yet...
Glory squeezed his hand softly in return, and then gently tugged on his arm.
"Get down here so I can kiss you," she said. At the moment, that was about the best she could do to show him she loved him. |
Léan playfully grumbled something about effort. But, he did lean down to make things easier for her. "I didn't want to move," he taunted, amused.
