It took a little while searching for them before Glory actually found them, and she kept an eye out for the boat the entire time.
Archie didn't notice her at first, but Damon did. He lifted his head slightly and looked happy to see her, but then lowered it again as he glanced upwards, wondering if the ship was still there.
"Hey," Glory said softly. "I think it's safe for the moment."
Archie jumped, startled--he hadn't noticed her there. He glanced over in her direction, looking embarrassed by his jumping. "...You scared me," he complained, bottom lip sticking out. "And are you sure it's gone...?"
"For right now," Glory replied, glancing around. "I don't know if it's going to come back, though... It might be safer if you three come home with me for a little while, until I'm sure they're not coming back."
Archie looked highly unnerved, and he held Eden a little closer to him. She stirred uncomfortably in her sleep, not liking being held so tightly. "...Where will we stay?" he asked, uncertainly.
"Eden seemed perfectly comfortable with the twins last time," Glory replied. "Otherwise... It takes maybe five minutes to fill the tank."
"I don't mind letting her stay with them...I mean...what about us?" Archie tightened the grip his other arm had on Damon, somewhat protectively. They would both want to be close to Eden, of course.
"That's what I meant," Glory replied. "The tank is big enough, and it only takes a few minutes to fill. I mean, it's all up to you, it's just a suggestion."
Damon looked particularly frightened by the mention of being in a tank, and he held onto Archie for dear life. Archie patted his head, affectionately. "...We'll come up," he decided, quietly. "But only if you can get us up and in there quickly. I don't want that boat coming back and seeing us."
Glory nodded.
"I can do that," she said. "I can go inside and fill the tank first, and then bring you inside." |
"All right. We'll wait here...come and get us, then. I'm not moving an inch until you come back..." Archie sounded oddly mature...oddly adult-like. He was taking the situation seriously.
"Alright," Glory replied. She glanced around one more time to make sure the area was clear before turning and heading back to shore.
((grr... stupid posting glitch...))
((Worked! :D))
Archie watched her leave silently, before tugging the other two members of his small family closer. He was going to keep to his word, and keep completely still until she returned. |
((yay!))
It didn't take Glory long to get back to shore and wrap herself in a towel to go inside. She needed to check on the twins first, but after that, she could start filling the tank. |
Léan was hanging around the nursery, where he could see that the twins were resting and still. He didn't know if they were asleep or just relaxing, but he figured they were fine enough on their own. He was lolling around the hallway, listening intently for movement outside.
Glory saw him keeping an eye on things.
"How have they been?" she asked when she got closer. "No problems?" |
Léan shrugged. "I didn't hear anything strange. So I assume there aren't any problems." He was still straining his ears, it sounded like, to listen for any signs of that boat returning.
"Alright," Glory replied. "How have the children been? Still sleeping?"
"Yes..." Léan sniffed slightly, then folded his arms across his chest. "...I don't want that boat coming back around here again..." He said nothing more, falling silent. He was too focused on listening for that boat.
"I'm not sure if it will or not..." Glory murmured, glancing out the window. She moved towards the nursery. "I need to check on the twins, and then fill the tank. Your brother and his family are going to stay with us until we're sure the boat isn't coming back."
"Oh, great," Léan muttered sarcastically before becoming serious again. "All right, all right. By the by, he may seem friendly, but I'd be careful if you plan on being the one to pick up Damon. He may not mean to, but he may lash out and bite." He shifted away from the wall. "Need help?"
"With the twins? No, I can take care of them myself," Glory replied. "With the other three? Maybe." She paused for a moment, thinking. "Could you go and start filling the tank while I check on the children?"
Léan stared at her like she'd just grown another head. "...I have no idea how to fill that tank," he informed her, not bothering to beat around the bush. "What do I do again?"
