"Anything?" Glory repeated, grinning. She paused for a moment, to let the appropriate suspense build, and then tackled him, pushing him under. Then she backed away, giggling.
|
Léan was confused for a bit...until she pushed him under, that is. He came back up and shook his hair out, amused. "Waging a war with a sea creature in the water is never a good idea..."
He ducked underwater and swept her legs out, not too hard, from underneath her. |
Glory squeaked in surprise as she slipped underwater. She scrambled to get her feet under her again, and was giggling as she came back up.
"I never said it was a good idea," she teased back. |
Léan arched an eyebrow, propelling himself out into slightly deeper water on his back. "I see...so logical. Dunk me again," he added with a grin, as a challenge. He was in deeper water, after all.
|
Glory grinned more. There was no way she could resist answering a challenge like that. Kicking off from the rocks, she went and pushed him under again.
|
Léan didn't come up this time. Instead, he swam under her and grabbed her feet, pulling her under about two feet or so before going off in another direction.
|
Glory blew a couple of bubbles in surprise and quickly made her way back to the surface for some air.
"Well, that was unexpected..." Glory couldn't see him under the water, since it was starting to get dark, so she climbed up onto one of the rocks to get a better view. "Where is he...?" |
Léan popped up after another moment, a fish struggling in his hand. "I saw a snack. So I went after it," he explained as he made his way over to her, noiselessly breaking the spine of his 'snack.'
|
"Uh huh," Glory replied disbelievingly. "You told me yourself you had a net of fish." Grinning, she kicked some water at him.
|
Léan dodged the water and took a bite out of the fish. After swallowing his bite, he tilted his head. "Those fish are for Damon and Arcturus, as well. We need to eat them sparingly, so we don't have to go hunting as much. There aren't any rules against catching a nice snack."
He took another bite out of the fish. |
"Alright, alright," Glory gave in. Carefully, she slid back down into the water. It was starting to get dark, and the water was reflecting the darkening sky. With a sigh, she leaned back and floated on her back, looking up at the banded orange and red clouds. She could see some stars through the clouds, and part of her was ready to take a quick breath, just in case he tried to dunk her again.
|
Léan didn't dunk her. Instead, he flopped over, carefully, onto his back and also glanced up at the sky, contently. He nibbled on his fish as he did so. In this position, he looked almost like a river otter, on his back gnawing on a fish...
|
Glory glanced over at him and grinned.
"You look so cute like that," she commented. |
Léan coughed and went a little pink. He was glad he hadn't had a mouthful of fish when she said that--otherwise, he would have choked on it. "Uh...okay?"
It seemed like he wasn't going to get grumpy about being called cute or adorable anymore...but he wasn't exactly agreeing with her, either. |
"And notice that you didn't automatically disagree with me," she pointed out. It was getting dark, so she didn't see the faint blush on his face. She looked back up at the sky and sighed.
"The sky is pretty tonight," she commented softly. |
Léan grumbled a bit before returning his attention to the sky, looming above him. It was getting darker and darker with each passing minute.
"It is." Mind you, he didn't pay much attention the sky most of the time, but still. |
((ugh... my connection at the school is fuzzing in and out...))
"You've mellowed out a lot," Glory said softly as they floated there. "You wouldn't even crack a smile at the beginning of the summer, and now you actually have fun." |
((That sucks.))
Léan shifted a bit, looking thoughtful. "...I suppose I have. I was used to being lonely. And not having anyone, for the most part...I guess I've been conditioned out of that." |
"Well, now you've got friends," Glory said firmly. "Well, at least one, but still. And it's not exactly as if I'm going anywhere. I'm kind of fond of this place now."
|
Léan nodded, seeming to feel quite relieved at her words. Being abandoned again was always going to be a fear of his. "I see..."
He stared up at the sky, quietly. He seemed to have run out of things to say, and he didn't know what to do, now. |
Glory wrapped her arms around herself, shivering a bit.
"Alright, I'm starting to get really cold now," she said, standing. "I should go inside and get into something warm." |
Léan nodded wordlessly, glancing off into the distance. Archie and Damon were still out in deeper water with each other. He still looked like he felt left out, but he was tired, and he would ignore them and try to get some sleep.
|
Still shivering a bit, Glory gave him a quick hug.
"Sleep well," she said. Then she made her way to the shore, quickly getting out of the water and inside before she got any colder. |
"I will try..." Léan didn't seem fazed by the cold, at all. It was almost like he was immune to it. He had learned, however, that humans often got sick when they grew too cold...he hoped Glory wouldn't get sick because of him.
|
As soon as Glory was inside, she dried off and changed into her warm pajamas. She figured she would wash the salt from her hair in the morning. She settled herself on her bed with a blanket around her shoulders, staying near the window. She tried to read for a little while, but ended up drifting off to sleep without realizing it.
