"Oh, I obey traffic laws," Glory replied. "Well, mostly. You know, make sure there's always someone faster than you so the cops follow them instead, the cops with the lights on aren't the ones to worry about since they're preoccupied, things like that. But there are also things like clipping the curb, going a bit too fast over potholes and speed bumps... My car has been through quite a bit."

Selena nodded, content. "Yeah, totally opposite from Viktor. He races other drivers, everywhere he goes. He raced a cop once. He won, so he got out of a ticket..."

"At least I'm smart about breaking driving laws... My car can't outrun the cops," Glory said. "I rather like my lisence, it only took me two whole years to get and I don't really want it taken away."

"It's why I have issues driving with him, sometimes..." Selena sighed, shaking her head. "He doesn't wear his seatbelt, he texts while he drives, he eats while he texts and drives, and he drives like a maniac. Certainly woke me up in the morning whenever he gave me a ride to school..."

"You can ride with me from now on, if you like," Glory offered. "He sounds like he drives like my older cousin, minus the texting while he drives. My cousin isn't that talented, thankfully."

Selena looked up hopefully. "...Please? If it isn't too much trouble?" It seemed like she didn't hold any animosity towards Glory anymore. She had only been confrontational because she honestly was afraid of anything supernatural. She was deliberately avoiding the subject.

"I'll tell you what. I'll give you a ride to and from school every day, and you chip in for my gas money every so often," Glory said. "Sound good?"

"Sounds good!" Selena confirmed, finishing up her history homework as she spoke. "Done." She sank back into the sofa, seeming more comfortable.

Grinning, Glory tossed her the remote.
"Go ahead and see what's on. What do you feel like for dinner?" she asked. |
Selena idly turned the television and flipped through channels. "The only food item I don't like? That'd be radishes. Everything else is good. I like Italian food and seafood. What do you feel like eating?"

"Well... we have a lot of marlin in the house," Glory said. "How about we fry some of that up?" She grinned sheepishly. "We tend to have a lot of fish around here. It's all really fresh, though."

Selena paused, then nodded. "Sounds good. I'll help." Once again, she dodged having to talk about anything...

"Great," Glory replied. She got up and headed into the kitchen to get out everything they would need.

Selena followed, rolling up her long sleeves. She liked to cook. Her mother would rarely cook for her, so she was on her own at home.

"Oil is in the pantry," Glory said as she pulled out a large skillet. "So are the flour and breadcrumbs." Going over to the fridge, she pulled out the eggs, and then opened the cabinet to bring down some bowls.

Diligently, Selena bustled off to get the proper ingredients. She managed to get all three over at the same time. "Here..." She set them down on a free part of the counter.

"It's been a while since I've had a good fish-fry," Glory said. "I may have to do it more often, if I keep getting so much fish."

Finally, after a few minutes of silence and helping Glory set everything up, Selena mumbled something under her breath. "What, does he bring you fish?" It was the first time she'd openly mentioned him by herself.

"Yeah," Glory replied, a bit surprised that Selena had broached the subject herself. "Although I'm still not sure how he dragged back the marlin with that gash on his arm... I'm just glad that Nana taught me how to deconstruct a fish."

Selena nodded slowly, eyes fixed on her work. It was unclear whether she would be all right continuing the conversation or not from her expression, which was blank.

Quietly, Glory started to fry the fish. If Selena wanted to talk, then Glory would let her talk. If she didn't, then Glory wouldn't push it.

Selena assisted her as best she could, still silent. "...Are you waiting for me to push the subject?" she asked, finally...a little awkwardly, actually. "I...I don't mind talking about everything, I guess..."

"It's up to you," Glory said. "If you're not comfortable, then you're not comfortable. I won't keep picking at it." Here, she grinned a bit. "That won't work on you like it does on other people I know."

Selena grinned, then sighed. "...I'm comfortable talking about it, if you want to pick at it," she offered finally, sounding sincere. It seemed like talking about this in-depth would take a giant weight off of her chest.

"Alright, then..." Glory said, trailing off. "Well... I keep teasing him that I can't leave him unsupervised, because last time I did, he came back with a cut on his arm and dragging a giant fish." She grinned. "Then again, another time he came back with a bit of jewelry, so I can't really complain."
