Léan lifted the bracelet up out of the water. "A bracelet. I found some pretty blue stones near my mother's gravesite...they caught my eye, so I thought I would make use of them..."
((Going to eat--I'll be back.)) |
"Those are pretty," Glory agreed. From what she could see in the reflected moonlight, the stones were lovely, and the stone setting was wonderfully simple.
Léan nodded, smiling a bit, as he set the last stone into place. He shook it around for a moment to make sure everything was secure. It looked funny, like he was abusing the jewelry. "All right. Everything seems to be securely in place..."
"It's a beautiful piece," Glory commented. She really liked it, but there was no way she would just ask for it. It was too nice. Chances were that he would probably sell it somewhere... After all, he had made it, so he could do what he wanted with it.
"It is...would you like it, by any chance?" Léan cruised over at a leisurely pace, holding it up to her. "I have no use for it, after all. I don't need jewelry, and I never sell it when I make it, usually..."
"Really?" Glory asked, surprised. She wanted it, certainly, but she hadn't expected him to actually offer it.
"...Well, I wouldn't want it to go to waste," Léan assured her, contently. "I either give the jewelry away, 99% of the time, or sell it...1% of the time. I insist--go on."
"If you're sure..." Glory murmured, taking the bracelet. The stones were dark in the moonight, with the faintest deep blue glimmer in their centers. Carefully, she fastened the bracelet around her wrist. "How does it look?"
Léan tilted his head a bit, to study it. "Lovely. I knew those stones would make a perfect bracelet..." He sounded proud of his work.
As Glory admired the bracelet, she absently pulled her feet out of the water and tucked them under her legs. She could barely feel her toes anymore, so she figured it was time to warm them up.
"The bracelet is beautiful," she said as she felt her feet gradually regaining feeling. |
Léan nodded, tail swishing back and forth slightly. He was regaining some of his happiness--all emotion had been sucked out of him when he'd visited his mother's grave.
Glory grinned a bit. She noticed that he was looking better, but she didn't point it out. Best to just let him feel better on his own, no sense in pointing it out and having him clam up again.
Léan rested his cheek against the rock, feeling tired. "Hm...did you two talk about anything interesting?" he asked, curiously. Of course, he had no idea what they'd been talking about.
"Well, sort of," Glory replied. Quickly, she explained about the idea that Selena had suggested and waited for his reaction.
Léan blinked. "That's...a wonderful idea," he offered, finally. "As long as no one discovers me, that sounds like...fun. He seemed worried about getting discovered, of course, but he sounded enthusiastic.
"You really want to?" Glory asked. If he was alright with it, then she would do what she could to make sure it went off without a hitch. Spending time with him in Hawaii did sound nice...
"Sure. I have never been to this Hawaii. Is it warm there?" Léan was used to cooler waters. He spent a lot of time in colder oceans, like the Arctic Ocean and Bering Sea.
Glory nodded.
"It's much warmer there, with crystal clear waters," she said, thinking back to some of the pictures she'd seen of the islands. "A lot of exotic fish, I think." |
Léan seemed mildly interested until he heard the words 'exotic fish.' Then, he showed a generous amount of interest. "Ah...sounds interesting, indeed...I would love to go."
"Alright," Glory said. "The trip is in a few days, apparently, which gives me enough time to pack and see about finding a large enough suitcase for you..."
Léan nodded happily, tail swishing back and forth. He seemed quite excited. "How will we be getting there? By boat?"
"That would take too long," Glory said. "We'll be getting there by plane. Flying will be much faster."
"...Plane?"
A look of pure confusion floated over Léan's expression. "Flying? Plane? What do you mean?" |
"Well..." Glory searched for the right comparison. "You've seen birds, right? You know how they're able to fly through the air?"
"Yes. Of course I've seen birds." Léan had a mix of fascination and puzzlement on his face. It was a strange expression.
