"It's kind of like that," Glory replied. "Except a plane is made of metal and the wings don't move. It works with air pressure and compression and combustion and things like that and I'm not exactly sure of the specifics, but I know it's a lot faster than trying to get to Hawaii by boat."
Léan nodded slowly. "...So...we'll be...flying." It seemed this was a difficult concept for him to get his head around. "Up in the air? That's...awesome..." Such a casual word coming from his mouth was astounding, but he now had a childlike air about him. He'd always dreamed of flying.
"About thirty-thousand feet up, yeah," Glory replied. It wasn't all that interesting to her, since she'd flown before. She rather liked takeoff and landing because it made her feel weightless, but the in-between wasn't all that interesting to her.
That number and the notion seemed unfathomable to Léan. "...Will we be able to see out, to the ground?" he asked, curiously. "I would love to see how the ground looks from so high up..."
"If the clouds aren't in the way, sure," Glory affirmed. "Though even the clouds look pretty cool from the windows. There's so much we just can't see from the ground."
Léan looked wistful. "I would love to see it...even seeing the clouds so close would be a treat for me..." He seemed like he was quite eager to go on this trip.
"Yeah... It's pretty spectacular," Glory agreed.
Léan stretched, then glanced at the darkening sky. "You should head back in soon, if you don't want to freeze. I hope the rest of your night goes well...I will probably just head on to sleep."
"Alright," Glory said, standing up and slipping her shoes back on. "Sleep well, Léan."
"You sleep well, too, Glory." Léan yawned and ducked down into the water, curling up to sleep for the night. He wasn't too tired, but he was looking forward to some sleep.
Quietly, Glory slipped into the house, making sure not to wake Selena. She took her shoes off at the door and walked into her room silently. She fell onto her bed, gratefully cuddling into her bed. It had been a long day, and she hoped that she would be able to sleep in in the morning.
((look, page 100)) |
Selena was deeply asleep. She was also hoping to get some extra sleep in...
((100 pages, wooo! :boogie: And still going!)) |
Glory slept late the next morning, snuggled deep into her bed. It felt so nice to sleep in after the unholy early mornings for school... Slowly, she woke up and stretched. It felt so good to sleep in. Getting up, she went out to the living room quietly to see if Selena was awake.
Selena appeared to have just woken up. She was rolling around on the sofa, yawning softly. She paused when she saw Glory. "Morning..."
"Seems we had the same idea," Glory said. "You appreciate Saturday mornings so much more when you're in school..."
"Mm..." Selena sat up slowly, yawning again. "I feel like going back to bed...but I'm certainly not going to now that I'm awake."
Heading into the kitchen, Glory rooted around in the cabinets for a little bit.
"What do you feel like for breakfast?" she called. |
"Um!" Selena stood up, wobbling a bit, before she followed Glory out into the kitchen. "Do you have any cereal?"
"Sure," Glory said. "Healthy stuff and stuff full of sugar, take your pick."
"Healthy stuff, please," Selena mumbled, sheepishly, scratching her head. "Sugar is not for me. Not at all...that's Viktor's thing, tons of sugar."
"Healthy stuff it is," Glory said, taking out the box of plain Cheerios. "You can spruce it up with whatever fruit you can find in the fridge or the fruit bowl on the counter."
Selena bustled around the kitchen to examine what fruits were available. She finally settled on strawberries and blueberries.
Pouring a little of both kinds of cereal into her bowl, Glory cut a banana into the cereal before pouring in the milk and settling on the couch.
"Lazy saturdays are the best," she said. "Oh, before I forget, do you have that suitcase you mentioned?" |
Selena cut up the strawberries and just plopped the blueberries in, glancing over to her. "I have it at my house, if you want to stop by and get it."
"Think I could just pick it up when I drop you off at home?" Glory asked.
