"I will," Selena assured her, smiling, before disappearing up the stairs. Her mother seemed to have a bitter expression on her face, but she was silent.
Glory glanced at Selena's mother one more time before heading outside to try to wrestle the suitcase into her car. Once she managed to get it in enough to close the doors, she made her way back home, intent on sitting on the beach again.
Léan was back out on the beach, just the tips of his tailfin submerged in water. He appeared to be relaxing and sunning himself, something he was not normally fond of doing when he knew there were humans within ten miles of him.
Grinning, Glory walked quietly out onto the beach when she saw him. Maybe if she was quiet enough, she could sneak up on him...
Léan had his eyes closed. It seemed like he was dozing off on the sand...he was lucky his kind didn't get sunburn. Otherwise, he'd be one giant lobster right now.
Grinning, Glory crouched down next to him.
"You look comfortable," she said dryly, nudging his shoulder. |
Léan jumped, flailing for a moment before blinking away the sleep and glancing up at her. "Huh? Oh, yes...I decided to take a nap in the sun because it is so nice out." It was chilly, of course, but Léan was used to colder water and air.
"That was an impressive spaz," Glory said, grinning. She sat down on the sand next to him. She tucked her feet underneath her to keep them warm.
"...I think that's a compliment?" Léan voiced, raising an eyebrow. "Did you take Selena home?" He tilted his head, curiously.
"Yeah, she's gone," Glory replied. "But she gave me that giant suitcase for the trip."
Léan perked up at the mention of the trip, his tail swishing around a bit. "Oh? How does it look? Will I be able to fit in it without a problem?" he asked, curiously.
"The thing is massive," Glory said. "It's got wheels at the bottom, which is good, but I haven't looked inside yet."
Léan looked happy to hear that. "Well...it looks like everything might work out perfectly then, correct? As long as no one finds me..."
"This might just be crazy enough to work," Glory said. Absently, she played with the sand.
Léan nodded, smiling. It sounded exciting. "Oh...but my brother and Damon. They will be left here, correct?" He paused. "What am I saying? They've been looking for a chance to go on their own sort of little vacation..."
"I figured they wouldn't want to fly to Hawaii anyways," Glory said. "Besides, can't they leave whenever they like?"
"True...a big move isn't good for Damon right now, though, so they will most likely not be leaving for a while," Léan noted.
"Which is why I figured that they wouldn't want to go anywhere," Glory said. "You, on the other hand, I figure you'd want to get away for a bit."
"Away from them? Yes," Léan replied, quite plainly. "Mates think of nothing but each other and their children while one of them is expecting. It's frustrating."
"I wouldn't know," Glory said, "I'm an only child, remember? Most likely for the best, but still."
"...Yes, the thought of two of you running around is quite scary, indeed," Léan teased, amused.
"Hey!" Glory protested half-heartedly, laughing. "Two of me would probably be a riot."
Léan grinned, tail swishing back and forth. It seemed he was in quite a good mood. "...I still say it would be quite scary."
"You're just a pansy," Glory teased good-naturedly.
"I am not," Léan grumbled, frowning. He was still playing around, though--surprising, consider his usual downer attitude.
