Léan reluctantly reached for the strange items, finding them to be soft and comfortable in his grasp. He just held them and stared for a moment before assuming which went were.
He propped up the pillow against the end of the bathtub where his head was and tucked the blanket around him, hoping they were both in their proper places. He felt oddly comfortable with these new 'sleeping accessories.' |
"I figure they're at least a bit more comfortable than just the ceramic of the tub," Glory commented. "If you feel the need to refill the tub, though, try not to let them get wet, alright? Pillows don't dry well."
|
Léan curled up a bit more, looking dreamily comfortable.
"I understand..." he assured her, comfy but not seeming all that tired for some reason. |
"My room is just down the hall. I'll leave my door open, so just call if you need anything," Glory said, stretching. The day seemed to just fly by, and she was oddly tired. She would definitely sleep well tonight.
|
"I will try not to disturb you," he commented, curling up even more.
There were only a few cuts of his that needed to dry out, yet...once they did so, he would be perfectly fine in the water. He just hoped he wouldn't get caught in one of those awful nets again... |
"Like I said, if you need anything, just ask," Glory replied. "Good night."
Heading into her room, Glory made sure her window was open before throwing herself down onto her bed. She was asleep almost as soon as she did so, and she slept pretty soundly through the night. She woke up fairly late the next morning, and she was glad that it was summer, so that she was allowed to sleep as long as she liked. Getting up, she went and poked her head into the bathroom. "Morning," she greeted. |
Léan had also slept long, and comfortably--he had woken up about three minutes before she decided to check on him. "Good morning..."
He didn't lift his head, showing that he was still a little tired, but he would be ready to get up and go if she needed him to. |
"Let me know when you're ready to head back outside, alright?" Glory said. She wasn't going to rush him. If he wanted to sleep more, that was alright with her. He was the one calling the shots, after all.
|
Léan groaned quietly, stretching. "I'll be ready in a while...take your time..." he mumbled, opening his eyes.
For some reason, he didn't look so good, even after sleeping for so long. |
"Are you alright?" Glory asked, concerned. "Did you not sleep well?"
((shaaaame~ i hate dialogue like this~) |
Léan shifted, sitting up a bit. He gently pulled the blanket off of him, confirming what he thought he'd felt bothering him all night.
Some of his cuts looked seriously infected. "I think there was something unpleasant on that fishing line," he noted, chewing his lip and flicking his tail. "Perhaps something poisonous." |
Glory looked a bit uneasy when he said that.
"I have disinfectant... But I don't know how well it will work, if the fishing lines were poisoned..." she said hesitantly. She reached under the sink anyways for the rubbing alcohol, and then hesitated. "It will sting, though, I'll warn you." |
Léan carefully set the blanket and pillow outside of the bathtub, his jaw set.
"I won't mind if it stings. I just want my cuts to heal. I apologize now if I squirm...I am not fond of pain, especially stinging pain." He'd gotten stung by a stingray once...and that had him wailing like a small toddler until he collected himself. |
"Consider yourself warned, then," Glory said firmly, uncapping the bottle. Grabbing a cotton ball from the package she'd taken out the day before, she soaked it in rubbing alcohol and started to clean one of the infected cuts, trying to ignore how he jumped and squirmed. Methodically, she kept cleaning them until she got to the last one. "There."
|
Léan did indeed squirm and jump, resisting the urge to swat her away with his tail. His cuts burned, but they looked cleaner. He only hoped it wasn't a very strong poison...
"Ah...that's better..." he sighed, stretching out to give the worst cuts air. |
"You look better already," Glory agreed, tossing out the cotton balls and recapping the rubbing alcohol. Bending down, she gathered up the discarded bedding. "Still feel up to heading outside?"
|
Léan stretched out a bit more before nodding.
"Yes...I'd like to try. I don't know if the water will be good for my cuts, but I would like to test it. And I want to see my brother, of course...plus, I'm still taking up your bathtub." |
"Alright," Glory said. "Let me know when you feel ready to head outside, alright?" Gathering the bedding, she folded the blanket and stashed it and the pillow in the linnen closet again.
|
Léan watched her leave, swishing his tail back and forth thoughtfully.
He hadn't seen his brother in a while--and he hadn't met his mate, yet--so he definitely was eager to get going. However, for some reason, he just didn't want to move. Be it laziness or something else, he wanted to stay put. He would go out, though--he really did want to get back into the ocean, for as long as his injuries would allow--and see his brother. But something felt strange...he couldn't put his finger on it. He laid there, trying to figure it out. |
After putting away the bedding, Glory went into her room to get dressed. Thinking ahead, she put on her bathing suit first, a two-piece blue-green number with black flowers splashed across it. Over top of the bathing suit, she put on a pair of cut-off shorts and a t-shirt, making sure they were things she didn't care if they got wet. She didn't know how much swimming she was going to be doing.
Brushing out her hair, she pulled it back and wound it into a bun, tying it quickly with a pair of elastics. Then she made her way back to the bathroom. |
Léan seemed eager by the time she returned, tail swishing happily.
"Planning to swim with us?" he noted, noticing her attire. He had seen humans wearing these sorts of outfits when they went for swims before. "Don't let Arcturus pull you under. He can get a bit too playful when he's swimming with friends..." |
"Just being prepared," Glory replied. "I figure I'll end up in the water somehow, may as well pretend it's on my own terms." She shrugged. "I just hope I don't step on anything that doesn't like being stepped on. One crab attaching to my toes is enough for one lifetime." She grinned at the memory. She'd been ten at the time, and she'd hopped around and screamed until her cousin, who had taken her to the beach, got her to calm down enough to tug the crab off and toss it back into the water.
|
Léan chuckled. "Oh, don't worry about that. We tend to grab things off the bottom of the seafloor as we swim, to eat. Crabs are a favorite of mine in the shallows. Though, it is not so simple to crack open one of those large 'horseshoe' crabs."
To be frank, those crabs scared him a bit. One had even made a strange hissing noise before and scratched at his tail. |
"Horseshoe crabs just aren't normal," Glory said. "I don't even think they're real crabs. I think they're more related to beetles. Like a cross between a roach and a sting ray." Glory shuddered a bit at the thought. "The only thing stranger than a horseshoe crab is a platypus, and nobody really knows how to classify those. Anyways, ready to head out?"
|
Léan nodded. "I am ready. I have eaten one of those crabs before, though," he added, tilting his head. "Despite their looks, they taste quite good. Nothing compared to king crab, though..."
