Léan yawned softly, nodding. "I would imagine it feels the same. My tail is the only thing that peels on me...so...I wouldn't know what peeling skin feels like..."
"You saw it over the summer," Glory reminded him. "Remember when I burned, and then my skin started to flake? The top layer was peeling off, because the rest underneath had healed. It itches."
Léan nodded, puzzled. "Ah...I had forgotten about that." He seemed distracted by the warmth of the water.
"You look confused about something," Glory commented as she laid back on the water. It was warm and clear, perfect for just lounging around.
Léan shook his head. "No, no...the water is so warm..." He purred softly, curling up slightly. His tail was swishing back and forth very slowly.
"You look like you're about to fall asleep," Glory said. "You're probably just too used to colder waters."
Léan nodded, considering that. "Well. I did used to live up in the Bering Sea. Crabbing season provided easy meals up there," he mused. "So..." He perked up a bit. "What would you like to do now?"
"I may not like hot weather much, but the Bering Sea would be a bit much even for me," Glory replied. "This is supposed to be a vacation, so you can do whatever you like."
Léan nodded and smiled. "I would like to relax...and spend a lot of time in the water, of course. Hunting for exotic fish might also be a lot of fun."
He didn't mention that there was an even bigger coral reef around here than there was back home... |
"You should go and see what's around here," Glory encouraged. "I'll be alright here. I'm not good at tanning, but it would be nice to lounge around and relax."
Léan seemed a little wary about leaving her alone on a deserted beach, but he nodded. "I will go and see if there is anything interesting around. Expect me back soon." He ducked under the water and headed out into deeper water--since it was so clear, he could be seen for quite a ways out. A dangerous place for someone of his kind, for sure...with so many people around...
Laying herself out on her towel, she put on her sunglasses and settled herself down to sunbathe for a while. She put one of her earbuds in to listen to some music, but made sure to only use one so she would be able to hear Léan when he got back.
Léan returned after a few minutes, having thoroughly explored the coral reef. He had an armful of exotic fish, and he looked excited about that. "Snacks," he announced to himself, laying out in the shallows and starting to nibble on them.
Glory sat up and took off her sunglasses.
"Very... colorful," she said, looking at what he caught. "I take it you enjoyed yourself. You weren't gone all that long." |
"There are so many fish," Léan commented, blissfully, as he swallowed a mouthful of them. "...The coral reef nearby is pretty..."
"Really?" Glory asked, interested. "I'm not surprised, it must get a lot more sunlight around here because the water is so clear."
"Yes..." Léan seemed excited. He wasn't fond of coral reefs, but everything seemed much more aesthetically appealing in this place.
"Well, you seem to be having fun," Glory teased. "I would have thought the reefs would be too girly for you."
Léan sneered. "There are a lot of fish in there. It is basically a giant, colorful, overcrowded dinner table."
Oh, yes...such a typical male way of thinking. |
"I'm guessing you didn't stop to look at all the pretty colors just for the fun of it, then," Glory replied. Typical guy...
"I see many pretty colors in the ocean on a daily basis. When I have nothing better to do, I may go sightseeing, but there is no point in that, really...unless, as I said, there is nothing better to do." Léan's tail swished back and forth. "...I suppose it can be fun...it isn't something I'm used to appreciating, color is..."
"In case you didn't notice, we don't GET colors like that back home," Glory pointed out. "Not unless you live a bit further inland where the maple trees are, and even then, they're only bright and colorful in the fall."
"Well, true." Léan's brow furrowed. "I get to see them a lot, so it doesn't impress me all that much...I suppose it is a different story for you."
"I think the best we can get is on clear days when the sky is reflecting off the water," Glory said. "Though around here, I hear there are some pretty spectacular things. The volcano, the exotic flowers..."
"I've seen underwater volcanoes before," Léan commented dryly, stretching. "They are not pleasant, and they roast fish and sea life..."
