Lorabelle nodded as she went about cleaning the kitchen from her waffle experimentation. 'I really hope we are able to find him... I would like to thank him for the apples and pay him with currency..' Lorabelle thought to herself as she wiped up the counter and put the dishes in the sink.
Ben changed into his typical pair of jeans and t-shirt before returning to the kitchen. "I'll only be gone for a couple of hours. I'll see you afterwards." He said as he walked over to Lora, giving first her forehead a kiss then ducking to give her lips a swift kiss as well.
"I'll make sure to have this kitchen spick and span by the time you get back," Lorabelle said with a grin as she returned his kiss with a tender one. "And I'll make sure I take a shower too," Lorabelle said with a laugh as she picked a bit of dough out of her hair, "I promise to look presentable for when you take me shopping!"
"You look lovely." Ben smiled, giving her a last kiss before disappearing from the apartment and walking back to his college for classes.
Not after Ben had left, Lorabelle went about the kitchen, finishing cleaning it and wiping down the waffle maker. When that was through, she mopped the floors and gave the table and counters one last wipe over. Grinning proudly at her clean kitchen, Lorabelle headed into the bathroom and took a long, relaxing shower.
When she was sure the dough was out of her hair, Lorabelle turned off the shower and dried herself off. Slipping into her now dry dress and undergarments, Lorabelle continued to dry her hair as she turned on the magic box and started watching her cooking shows. |
Ben was grinning as he walked out the door of his last class and not just because he was going to see Lora soon. In his hand he had a pop quiz from the week before with a large, red A printed at the top and was still beaming with pride. His Lit class was becoming more and more of a chore then something he enjoyed and he was quite proud of himself with keeping his grades high.
When he returned to his building, Ben walked upstairs to see Lora and packed away the last of schoolwork into his backpack. "Good afternoon." He called happily as he tossed his bag and keys aside before wandering into the living room. |
"Welcome home!" Lorabelle said happily as she looked over at Ben. "I've been watching the magic box and they've been making some very strange things! They call it... seafood. It looks very... strange," Lorabelle said with a slight look of disgust before asking, "Why do humans like to eat things that look so foul?"
"Because looks are deceiving and it in fact is very delicious." Ben smiled as he walked behind the couch and bent to give Lora's lips a long kiss, one hand cupping her cheek. "What would you like for lunch?" He asked before stepping away and removing his coat. "Would you like to eat out instead today before we shop?" He wondered.
"If you think octopus is delicious, you are absolutely mad," Lorabelle teased before standing from the couch and walking over to Ben, her hands clasped at the base of her back as per usual. "And I think we may have to eat out," Lorabelle added with a nervous laugh, "I think I made us run out of everything except for cereal while I was experimenting."
"That's fine. There's a great sandwich shop around the corner." Ben informed Lora as he took another look at her lips and decided to steal another soft kiss. "Are you ready to leave?" Ben asked as he rested his forehead on her's.
Wrapping her arms around Ben's neck and placing a long, tender kiss upon his lips, Lorabelle smiled excitedly, "I am very much ready to get more human food to experiment with!" After a light kiss on the lips, Lorabelle slipped out of Ben's embrace and slipped on Gina's borrowed shoes. Running her fingers through her hair to part it to the side and put it into order, Lorabelle looked over at Ben with a grin, "Are you ready for a day full of shopping?"
"Yes, I think so." Ben laughed as he took Lora's hand and led her out of the apartment, making sure his wallet was tucked safely in his back pocket. "Did you have anything in mind that you want to buy?" He asked curiously.
"Apples! And other fruits. It's been too long since I've properly had a fruit meal. Oh! And cheese! Then I can make more of those sandwiches!" Lorabelle rambled excitedly as she rattled off different things she had been experimenting with, as well as a few things that the magic box had bee talking about on the cooking channels.
"Cheese and apples it is then. What sort of fruits did you eat before?" Ben asked as they stepped into the street, putting a friendly arm around Lora to keep her from being lost in the crowd.
"Well, we have all of the fruits that humans have growing back home so I've tried all sorts of fruit! I've tried raspberries, blackberries, apples, grapes, pears, apricots, cherries, peaches, plums, blueberries, cranberries, figs, pomegranates, passion fruit..." Lorabelle listed excitedly as they walked along the street, "But we always had trouble getting the oranges peeled and the bananas open, so those were only treats on special occasions."
"Do you have all of that here?" Lorabelle asked as she looked up at Ben and wrapped her arms around his waist, "I've always wondered what humans do with the fruits and what they can make with them." |
"We have all of those and more. And I can assure you oranges and bananas will be alot easier to peel now." Ben told her. "And we do all sorts of things with fruit, we put them in cakes and on yogurt and we bake them sometimes in pies." He explained as they walked. "Here's the little sandwich place." Ben nodded to a small restaurant a few feet ahead. "I think you'll like it." He told her before leading her inside.
Lorabelle's eyes widened as she looked around the shop. It was decorated in a green and white theme, semi-business semi-nature, and was filled with people. Looking at all of the food laid out across the deli stand, as well as all of the drinks in large boxes with words written on them, Lorabelle grinned as she looked up at Ben, "What is all of this?"
"Its a shop that sells sandwiches. They have tons of choices and they're all delicous." Ben smiled at Lora before a petite girl with brown hair, the same color as Ben's, and bright emerald eyes tossed her arms around Ben.
"There's my long lost cousin, thought you'd forgotten about me." She laughed as she left a few pats on Ben's back before pulling out of their embrace and turning to Lora. "Hm, and with a pretty girl no doubt." The girl smiled politely. "Lora, this is Josie." Ben said, turning to put a hand on the middle of Lora's back. "She's my cousin and owner of this shop." He explained. |
"Nice to meet you, Josie," Lorabelle said with a blush as she held out her hand for Josie's. "You have a beautiful shop! All of the green reminds me home. How did you learn to make so many different sandwiches?" Lorabelle asked sincerely as her eyes wandered over the large spread of meats, cheeses, breads, and the like. It overwhelmed Lorabelle, and it made her very eager to experiment.
"Oh well we just picked a bunch of things to put inside bread and honestly the customers put together the best sandwiches." Josie laughed as she took Lora's hand in both of her's. "My favorite customer made sandwich was a pregnant woman who asked for pickles, cheese, and lots of ranch." She laughed, shaking her head.
Lorabelle grinned curiously at the woman's enthusiasm over the sandwich, though she was unsure of what most of the ingredients were, "Pickles and.. ranch? What are those? Do they taste good together? I'd very much like to try them!"
"They taste quite gross together." Ben smiled as he stepped closer to Lora. "But when a woman is pregnant they have these odd cravings." He explained before turning back to Josie. "Well we're going to get something to eat. I'll make sure to say goodbye before we leave." He promised but Josie was already half in a conversation with another customer.
"Yes, yes. No sneaking out." Josie waved before turning back to the customer. "Alright, up here to pick out our toppings." Ben said as he lead Lora up to the counter. |
"Is that a human thing? Being easily distracted?" Lorabelle laughed as she took in the wonderful smells of the breads. "And is it a human thing to have strange cravings for disgusting food?" Finding a bread that was dark and some sort of brown in color, Lorabelle pointed at it and asked with a grin, "Oh! I've never see that before! It looks yummy, what is it?"
"Being easily distracted is a Josie thing." Ben laughed and shook his head. "That's rye bread. It's got a more intense flavor then regular bread." Ben explained before pointing out a loaf with a firm crust. "It's a french bread and by far the most delicious." He said as he pointed at it through the display case.
"I want that for my sandwich, then," Lorabelle decided with a grin before looking at the array of meats and cheeses. The selection was just as vast as the breads, and Lorabelle grinned at the display. "I've never seen any of these before! What are they? Are they yummy? Do you mix them together on a sandwich?"
