Lorabelle grinned as she popped a piece of popcorn into her mouth, her mouth getting a bit sticky as it grew dry from all the butter and salt. After a minute or so of trying to figure out this new sensation, Lorabelle asked softly, "Ben, I think I am defective. My mouth feels very..... strange."

"Its probably just dry from the salt. I'll get some water." Ben offered as he got up from the couch and disappeared into the kitchen.

"So, Lora." Jack said with a friendly smile at the new girl on his couch. "How are you liking it here?" He asked curiously.

Lorabelle blushed as she looked over at Jack, "It takes some adjusting, but it's nice so far. Everything is so.. magical. There are so many new things here that I just.. It is so overwhelming, but so fun at the same time. It is hard to believe this was meant to be a punishment, it is more like a reward!"

"A punishment?" Gina asked curiously before getting a small pinch in the side from Jack. "I'm sorry." She said quickly. "I don't meant to be nosy. Its a habit I'm trying to break." She explained to Lora. "Has Ben showed you the school yet? I swear he practically lives there." Gina teased as Ben walked back into the room with a glass of ice water in his hand.

"Gossiping behind my back?" Ben laughed at the couple as he sat down and handed the glass to Lora. "What lies have they been telling you?" Ben asked playfully.

"Only that you live at school." Jack smiled at his best friend.

"I don't live at the school I just have alot of work to get done and I'm more focused when I'm on campus." Ben countered as he settled himself into the couch again.

After sipping the water, Lorabelle asked, "School? What is... school?"

Gina and Jack exchanged a strange glance but Ben didn't think twice before answering her. "School is a place where I go and they have people who will teach me about history and plenty of other things." Ben explained. "I think you'd like it there, I can show you around tomorrow since I have class at 4." He offered with a warm smile.

"I would like that very much, Ben." Lorabelle smiled happily as she thought of the prospect of learning something new about the human world. She was definitely believing that this was less of a punishment and more of a reward after having met Ben. He was kind, he was gentle, and he was understanding.

Were all humans like him?

Gina and Jack seemed to be just as kind.

Would everyone in this ... school ... be the same as them?

"Perfect." Ben grinned happily as the movie credits began to roll across the screen. "Well we better go Lora, we don't want to intrude on Jack and Gina's 'date night' tonight." Ben teased.

"Hey, now. No dissing date night." Gina laughed as she leaned into Jack who gave her forehead a kiss.

"I thought it was weird too, man. But she's converted me." Jack smiled hapily at his girlfriend.

"Alright so we'll see you guys later." Ben said as he stood from the couch and put a hand out to Lora. "Do you want to see the city tonight? I could take you on a small tour." Ben offered.

Taking his hand Lorabelle nodded with a laugh, "Sure, that sounds fun!" Looking at Gina and Jack, Lorabelle smiled, "Thank you for having me over. I had a wonderful time."

"It was nice meeting you too." Gina smiled as she stood up, Jack giving a small wave behind her.

"Feel free to come down whenever you get sick of Ben." Jack teased as Gina walked the two towards the door.

"He's kidding." Gina laughed as Ben slipped into his shoes and helped Lora put her's on again as well. "Ben's an awesome guy. He'll take good care of you."

"Thanks, Gina. I'll see you guys later." He said before opening the door for Lora.

Lorabelle blushed as she excited the apartment and waited for Ben. When they were alone, Lorabelle asked softly, "Do they always tease so?"

"Afraid so." Ben smiled. "But its all in love." He promised as they walked over to the elevator and hit the button, making it light up a bright orange.

"All in love?" Lorabelle repeated as she followed Ben, her brows furrowed in concentration, trying to make sense of his statement. "I don't understand.. How can Gina love you, if she loves Jack? And how can Jack love you, if she loves Gina? And how can they love me, if they don't even know me? I don't understand..."

"There's different types of love." Ben explained patiently as the elevator doors opened in front and led Lora inside, hitting the button for the lobby. "There's love that you have for friends that's not as passionate physically but you still care about someone just as much." Ben said with a blush. "I'm sorry if I'm not very good at explaining these things. I'm not exactly an expert on love." He said shyly.

Lorabelle sighed as her brow furrowed deeper, "So, when you love someone you kiss them, but that's only when you're in love passionately and physically with that person. But when you love someone else, it's more like a friendship, and kissing is wrong. How do you know which is which then? And what do you mean by when you're in love you're very passionate and physical?"

By this time, Lorabelle was so utterly and completely confused, she wasn't even aware that she was riding in the scary moving box.

"Its just something you know." Ben said. "Its very difficult to explain, its a feeling you have. When you are passionately in love you get those little butterflies in your stomach sometimes and hearing their voice alone can make you smile. Even just thinking of them gets you all warm and fuzzy inside. But when you're really in love with someone you just know. Its a feeling really." Ben said as the elevator doors opened at the lobby and he led Lora outside onto the streets which had calmed down after the busy rush during the day.

Lorabelle shook her head with a sigh, "If you say so. You humans are truly incomprehensible. Now, where are we going?" Lorabelle asked, forgetting about what they were talking about and focusing purely on the adventure ahead of them.

"I could take you up to the school that Jack and Gina were talking about to show you around or we could go to an ice cream place that's a couple blocks that way." Ben said, pointing off in the direction behind Lora. "Or I could take you around to some of the shops. They're mostly closed now but the window displays are impressive. Anything particularly interest you?" Ben asked curiously.

"Ice-cream... Is that the soupy stuff you see humans get all over themselves in the summer? I'd very much like to see what all the fuss is over if you wouldn't mind showing me," Lorabelle said with a smile as her eyes lit up. "And thank you, Ben, for everything. I really do appreciate it."

"Its not a problem, Lora. Its nice having company." Ben smiled as he steered Lora towards the direction of the ice cream shop. "Ice cream sn't quite as soupy as you might think. Only when its hot out it'll melt." Ben explained as they approached a colorful shop with a window filled with candy in the same style of old fashioned candy shop; complete with tinkling bells as they entered the store.

Lorabelle's eyes grew wide, her jaw slacking slightly as she looked around the shop. "It's so beautiful.. And you can eat all of these things?" Lorabelle inquired as she began inspecting every inch of the store, despite all of the looks she was getting.

"Everything except for the walls and floors." Ben smiled, ignoring the glances other people were giving Lora. "Two strawberry waffle cones." Ben called to the boy behind the counter who nodded and began to scoop their order. "Do you want to try some candy as well?" Ben asked curiously as he followed behind Lora.

"I'm not sure where to begin! It all seems too beautiful to eat. I'd hate seeing it's beauty destroyed by my eating it," Lorabelle admitted with a laugh as she looked over hard balls in dishes, long sticks with hard circles on them, soft brown candies in all shapes and sizes, and gooey concoctions that stretched for what seemed miles.

"What about these?" Ben asked, holding up a string of tiny hard candies for Lora to see. "They're rainbow jawbreakers." He explained as the boy behiind the counter called over that their ice cream was ready.

"Sure!" Lorabelle said happily as she skipped over to Ben and wrapped her arms around his neck, hugging him with a laugh before taking the jawbreakers. Skipping over to the counter where they had ordered the ice-cream, Lorabelle waited for Ben as she studied the jawbreakers.
