Lorabelle nodded, "Yes, I really do hate being in a dismal mood. It goes completely against my inquisitive nature," Lorabelle admitted with a small smile. "Tell me, what is this.. school.. like?"

"Well its several buildings grouped together and some buildings are home to students. There's some that are built for classrooms where we have classes and then there's a large one that's the library with all the books inside." Ben explained as they neared the border of the property. "Though the fountain is set directly in the center and is lit up at night." He described, hoping he would do the campus some justice.

"It sounds like its own private village," Lorabelle said with a laugh as they neared the school, "What do you learn here?"

"Well I'm majoring in veterinary science." Ben explained before realizing Lora probably didn't know what he was talking about. "Well I'm studying to be a vet which is basically a doctor for animals." He said as they wound down the lighted path that wrapped around the entire campus.

"You mean you have to study to learn how to help animals?" Lorabelle laughed, "Oh honestly, it's not that difficult. All you must do is focus your life energy with theirs to heal them."

"Well not exactly." Ben said with a raised eyebrow. "Humans don't have powers to heal animals. We have to use science in order to help them." He said as they approached the small courtyard area that encircled the fountain.

Lorabelle sighed, "Humans are very limited... aren't they.." Looking up, Lorabelle saw the fountain, instantly lighting up her eyes. Grinning from ear to ear, Lorabelle ran to the fountain and looked it over. It was as breathtaking as she had imagined. "Why is it humans can create something so beautiful, but cause so much destruction?" Lorabelle wondered allowed as she dipped her fingers into the fountain's water, laughing as she made swirls in the water, distorting her reflection.

Ben grinned that Lora's excitement and stepped forward to stand beside her in the fountain. "Because no matter how stubborn or selfish they are everyone knows how to appreciate beauty." He smiled happily into the water as Lora's fingers created small ripples to wave across the surface.

Lorabelle smiled as she looked up at Ben, "I suppose that could be called the 'silver-lining in humanity', hm?" Slipping off her shoes, with a bit of difficulty, Lorabelle stepped into the fountain, feeling the cool water on her feet. Smiling, Lorabelle laughed aloud, "It has been so long since I've felt so close to home." Twirling underneath the cascading sprinkles of water, Lorabelle grinned as she studied the center of the fountain, feelings the stone's soft, smooth contours. "Are all fountains like this?" Lorabelle inquired as she looked back over at Ben.

Ben couldn't help but laugh at Lora's strange behavior as she danced in the fountain. Hefound that he could honestly say he'd never met anyone like here before. "No, not all fountains but there's some that are just as beautiful, if not more so." Ben smiled from the edge of the fountain.

Lorabelle smiled as she sat on the fountain's edge and looked up at Ben, soaking wet from the water, "I'd very much like to see them. Are there any more in this city?"

"There's one ouside the city's library and another across town in the park but other then that I'm not sure." Ben told her with a smile as he looked over her black curls which had become damp from her playing in the water.

"I'd like to see them one day, if you would not mind taking me," Lorabelle said with a smile. "Though I do not think tonight would be a good night, "Lorabelle said with a laugh, "I think I would look rather strange walking around the city drenched from head to foot when it is not raining, don't you?

"Perhaps." Ben laughed. "But if you want we can go backt the apartment and I'll get you some dry clothes." He offered as he held out a hand to help her down from the fountain.

Nodding, Lorabelle took Ben's hand and slipped from the fountain's edge. Taking her shoes into her hand, Lorabelle looked up at Ben with a smile, "Will we have to stop by Gina's to borrow more of her clothes? I would hate to have to interrupt her... what did you call it? Date night?"

"I'm sure they've gone out to dinner or something." Ben mused. "But you can borrow some sweatpants of mine or something until tomorrow. If that's alright with you." Ben offered as he led her back out of the campus and back to his apartment building.

"That's fine. I don't really have any preference. I can wear my own dress tomorrow," Lorabelle said with a smile as she wrapped her arms around Ben's waist. Resting her cheek upon his chest as they walked, Lorabelle added softly, "Thank you, Ben, I really appreciate all of this."

"Your welcome." Ben blushed as he returned her hug before opening the door of the apartment building for her and bringing her into the elevator, ignoring the stares of the other residents in the lobby.

Lorabelle blushed as she stood beside Ben in the elevator, "They're all staring at me, aren't they.. But why are they staring so? I am only wet.. I am not improper, am I?"

"Well normally people don't hop into the fountain but I wouldn't take their looks as insulting." Ben explained with a small smile at her disheveled appearence. "I thought it was rather adorable." He said before a faint pink blush reached his cheekbones. "Its not everyday I meet someone like you." He teased playfully as the elevator doors opened and Ben led Lora back into his apartment.
"Here's a towel." Ben said after hurrying into the bathroom and handing her a plush towel before ducking into the bedroom. "And...." His voice trailed off as he dug through his things looking for clothes that would fit Lora's thin frame. |
"You mean no one goes into the fountains to admire their beauty? Not even in the summer to cool off? How strange.." Lorabelle mused aloud to herself with a laugh as she dried her hair with the towel. Standing in the doorway, Lorabelle watched Ben search for clothes. "You needn't trouble yourself so much, Ben, I'll wear whatever you have. It needn't fit properly, I shan't complain," Lorabelle added with a smile.

"Yes but I'd want you to be comfortable." Ben called back as he pulled out an older, smaller pair of sweatpants and a still rather large shirt. "I'm sorry this is all I have." He said simply as he walked back out to hand Lora his clothes.

Lorabelle smiled as she took the clothes, "They'll do just fine, Ben. Thank you." Placing a light kiss upon his cheek, Lora headed into the bathroom to change her clothes. When she was finished, Lorabelle hung her wet clothes upon the shower rod. Picking up the towel once more, Lorabelle continued trying her long, thick hair as she walked barefoot out into the living room and sat upon the couch.
"Am I really so different from normal humans?" Lorabelle asked quietly, almost to herself, with a sigh. |
"Yes." Ben said honestly as he sat beside her and put an arm over the back of the couch. "But don't think its a bad thing. You stand out in a good way...at least to me." Ben smiled at her. "Don't be sad." He urged softly.

Lorabelle blushed a deep scarlet, "Forgive me, I do not mean to sound so pitiful. I just.. I feel so at a loss. I do not fit in well with humans, yet I must live with them for the rest of my life. How am I to be a part of this world, if I cannot even act properly?"
